I bought this at a local Target on clearance for half price. It didn't appear to have been opened previously. It worked fine the first time we put our three-month old in it, but it stopped working after that. We changed out the batteries for brand new ones twice but that didn't make a difference. The music works fine; it's the bouncy mechanism that does not. It's too bad because our twins like it when I bounce it for them and have even fallen asleep in it. Aside from the bouncy mechanism, another aspect that could use improvement is the strap system to hold the baby in the seat. To tighten it you have to pull the strap away from you toward the seat rather than toward you, which is awkward. Maybe they do this on purpose so you can't make it too tight?? I read another review prior to purchase stating that they had to replace the batteries once a week...well I've been using this a couple times a day for the past 5 months and today was only the 3rd time I've replaced the batteries. I'm using the Energizer Max batteries, maybe if your using the cheap batteries they don't last...? Also, I don't park my baby in it all day long, or have him sleep in it, as it's not intended for that. I took off one star for the issue with the overhead bar. It falls off too easily and is very difficult to reattach. Also, as another reviewer stated, the hanging animals are backwards (not facing the baby). To solve this, I unscrewed the attachment pieces on the bar ends and reversed them, now the animals are facing the baby! Some things to note... Cons You cannot manually rock this bouncer because it makes a ruckus with all the heavy plastic parts. It reclines almost flat. There is no vibrate option. I have twins with different preferences and this didn't work for either of them. One twin requires vibration, but both prefer the bouncer that sits more upright. Probably because it's better for their tummies post feeding. I can see it working for sensitive babies that need to be held and swayed to sleep. If your baby is already asleep and easily wakes outside of your arms this can be helpful. I used it for that a few times with my already asleep baby and it was nice because it's similar to how I rock them.
