My Z97 motherboard w/ 4690k finally died (bad VRM cooling + 9 years of use) so I reluctantly had to upgrade.. Was super lucky to pick up one of these this week. Insane performance, beats Zen 3 cpu's in single-threaded workloads, perfectly adequate for 120hz+ 1080p gaming with a decent GPU. I'm running it with 16gb 3200mhz CL18 ram, and a B660M Gaming AC gigabyte mobo. I can see this thing lasting me another five years at least, and for the price, it's probably the best value computing purchase I have ever made - maybe will ever make. Highly, highly recommend for most users, especially at 1080P.

Used for my first build, I didn’t really care about it being the base model, it performs well in CPU intensive tasks.I haven’t enabled XMP yet but it is already fast enough for what I need.Stock cooler is sexy, would prefer it over most custom air coolers. Was recommended by Tech Source in a build video, runs great

The Core I3 12100f is roughly 2021-2022s best budget CPU. Worth every cent if you plan on upgrading to a more high Raptor Lake CPU as soon as they release. Or if you just want that sweet feeling of a new socket projected to be used up until the 14th or 15th generation. However, note that the CPU is quad core, so you shouldn't expect your multicore/(multithreaded?) performance to be THE best. Single Core performance is a whole different story, and I would highly recommend looking at the benchmarks online for the i3. Overall, i'd recommend this CPU for people/gamers on a tight budget or people who spend more money on other components like the Motherboard, GPU, RAM, etc.

Have been running this CPU for a few weeks now, super fast for pretty much everything, up there with the fastest CPUs available for tasks using 8 cores or less. Using the stock cooler and it is significantly quieter than my old i7 (also using the stock cooler, has 25w more TDP) even at full load, temps don't get that high. For anything that uses the graphics card (1070ti) the fans on that are louder.
Coming from a 4th gen Intel, this upgrade has made me realise what I had been missing out on for so long! I am so impressed with its ability to keep up with everything I throw at it, and while I'm no big gamer, I appreciate the speeds and the energy savings from this CPU. I find the i3 most adequate for my photo/video editing, internet browsing and gaming every now and then. Paired with a brand new motherboard, I am now fully reaping the benefits of my graphics card, DDR4 RAM, along with the lasting support of the latest PCIe revisions etc. I'm comfortable knowing that this CPU will last me for a good while before I need to consider buying even more powerful processors from Intel in the future.
Pros:-Really great single core IPC performance-Cheap and outperforms old-generation Ryzens easily-FREE RM1 cooler looks mean-Runs cool on my tests even with stock coolerCons:-Doesn't have iGPU-Suffers from the dreaded 'i3 branding'-Poor resale value because most 'normies' will see i3 and dismiss it-You can't remove the i3 branding-Your self-esteem stats will decrease because of i3 branding-Box comes with same colour scheme as 11th gen, so you will really struggle convincing people about that this is 12th gen CPU-Don't know why they made i3 font bigger over 12th Gen-Your mates will judge you because you have an i3, even though they have 2nd/3rd gen i7's (which are waay slower)TLDR - it's good, like really good... just be sure to find an i7 sticker and ... MorePros:-Really great single core IPC performance-Cheap and outperforms old-generation Ryzens easily-FREE RM1 cooler looks mean-Runs cool on my tests even with stock coolerCons:-Doesn't have iGPU-Suffers from the dreaded 'i3 branding'-Poor resale value because most 'normies' will see i3 and dismiss it-You can't remove the i3 branding-Your self-esteem stats will decrease because of i3 branding-Box comes with same colour scheme as 11th gen, so you will really struggle convincing people about that this is 12th gen CPU-Don't know why they made i3 font bigger over 12th Gen-Your mates will judge you because you have an i3, even though they have 2nd/3rd gen i7's (which are waay slower)TLDR - it's good, like really good... just be sure to find an i7 sticker and slap it on your PC.
What more can you ask out of a cpu in the $100 range? Nothing cause this thing checks all the boxes. Handles games AAA games with fps right in line with 11600k. Also the new Intel cooler looks way batter and actually keeps the chip at low temps no matter what is thrown at it. My pick for a cheaper 1080p build.
This CPU has excellent performance. Everything loads extremely quickly. So far it can handle games that my prior FX-8120 would struggle with and is very capable at video rendering. The only con I have is regarding the included CPU cooler: the way it was packaged allowed for cardboard particles to be stuck in the pre-applied thermal past. This can be ignored if you're going to get an after market cooler.
I upgraded from an I7-4790k and it blows it out of the water. At the time I was playing Death Stranding : Director's Cut, and went from getting 60-70FPS to getting 120FPS with full GPU utilization (before, it was at 30%). Now I can finally put my GPU to use.I got this at $90 in 2021, while I got that I7 for $250 in 2015. This CPU is showing about a 40% increase in speed in most applications.
I was looking for something inexpensive for the time being to upgrade to newer technology. I purchased this 12 Generation, i3 Intel processor to replace my 6 Generation, i7 Intel processor. I also replace motherboard too. I was able to keep everything else the same, including the older DDR4 memory. The memory is slightly slower than what's recommended for this processor, but it does still work. A website CPU benchmark comparison between old and new processor indicates I should see about 30% increase in performance. Results: I am seeing that Windows 10 Pro loads much faster and system overall is more responsive.
