Price is good, but LGA1700 motherboards cost so much that the same $$$ will get you a 5600X + motherboard as a 12400F+motherboard.Intel have significantly improved their bundled CPU cooler!Runs well in Win10 due to no "Efficiency" cores.Benchmarks pretty much within the margin of error between this and 5600X

This may be the best bang for buck CPU available at the moment. Pair it with a nice 600 series socket 1700 motherboard and you have a solid 12th generation platform. Paired with a low end RTX graphics card there seems to be very little as far as gaming is concerned that can hold it back. thoroughly recommended for economy gaming build.

I currently have this paired up with a 3070 and there is zero bottleneck. Easily get 100+ FPS @ 1440 on majority of all games I through at it at Med/High settings. I get about 110 average on Warzone 2/MW2, 150 on Destint 2, and 165 (capped) on Siege. Very strong budget CPU for gaming.

Cost to performance you still cant beat the I5-12400f. I have this paired with a 3070 and could not be happier with the gaming power. Only recommendation is to pick up an aftermarket cooler as the stock one can get loud/audible under load. I ran the stock cooler for 2 weeks before I switched it out for a Dark Rock.
This processor is very fast and a major upgrade for me from an older i7.The retail box cooling solution works very well. Keeps my processor cool and is not that loud under normal conditions and while gaming. The loudest I can get the fan is under prime95 and cinebench r23 which is max load. The temperatures under max load remain in the 70's c. Idle is 40 c or high 30's c.
Just built a new PC and i ordered this processor. The fan it came with had very little thermal paste on the bottom and it didnt come with extra. I figured that would be fine to put it on still but as soon as i start up my pc it states the cpu is getting hot up to 89 c
I was uncertain of the quality of the stock cooler, based on other reviews here. However i believe they may have had inadequately mounted the cooler. I was seeing temps of idle around 40c, load around 60c, Which varies greatly with what some have said about this cooler. As for the chip itself, i was looking for similar performance to my 9900KF at lower thermal load so i could downsize. This fit that bill. for under $500 CAD, the H670M-ITX/AX and this chip bundled together is a solid ITX build for gaming, without needing extra cooling in most cases.
Highly recommend on a budget, unless you're trying to run Ultra 4K settings, you won't see any issues with this processor. Switched over from an AMD 6300, my life is changed. Effectively doubled/tripled my FPS in every game I own, and not worrying about overheating is a godsend. Recommend this completely as a perfect budget processor.
Picked this up on sale for a great price and paired it with the RTX 3080 for 4k gaming. This is just the right amount of CPU for 4K since most games are GPU bound and this CPU does not bottleneck the 3080 very often. I used a $20 ID SE214 cpu cooler with this CPU and the temps don't exceed 65C at 100% load in my Fractal Torrent Nano case.
On the 12400f SA volt is locked at 0.89-0.98v.This means if you are unlucky and get a 12400F locked to 0,89V you won't even be able to run your XMP profile of 3200 of your ram in gear 1.Unknowingly to you (or at least most users) your motherboard will switch to the slower gear 2 which results in a massive performace loss of your memory latency. (instead of 60ish nanoseconds stuff will take 75ish nanoseconds - that's 25% worse)The reason for this is that the IMC (Memory Controller) of this CPU doesn't get enough voltage as Intel for some reason thought that's a great idea to lock this Voltage to previously stated values. If you release a CPU in 2022 that doesn't guarantee to run DDR4 RAM at 3200 in Gear 1 then you are doing something very very wrong.I found ... MoreOn the 12400f SA volt is locked at 0.89-0.98v.This means if you are unlucky and get a 12400F locked to 0,89V you won't even be able to run your XMP profile of 3200 of your ram in gear 1.Unknowingly to you (or at least most users) your motherboard will switch to the slower gear 2 which results in a massive performace loss of your memory latency.
