Using the 10700f with and rtx 2070 super, 32gb gskill aegis, Asus b460prime, TG 1tb name. It's ridiculously fast, especially considering I went from a xeon e5 2680v2 (10 cores). My fps in most games literally gained by about 60-80 percent. Don't hesitate to get with the times, use quad pay if you have to.

Great CPU, despite Intel's current state.

Bought this because AMD's 5000 series is out of stock. Never really overclocked, so getting this over the 10700K/KF was a no brainer. 8c16t and 4.6GHz all core turbo are already extremely solid as is. While Intel might not currently be on its A-game, this CPU is leaps and bounds ahead of where we were just back in 2017.

Great for a little above average use

This product is niche, but if you fit that niche, I HIGHLY recommend it. Great balance of value and power. If youre looking for strictly the best value then look downward in the intel line, and if youre looking for strictly the most power then look upward in the intel line.

I have assembled several desktop computers myself before. I remember having an AMD previously, but it seemed to ran hot, and had some other minor issues, so I like to stick with Intel. But this is a first time, that an Intel CPU was giving me temperature issues. Per other people's recommendations, I replaced the stock fan with some $60 third party fan. After replacing the CPU fan, temperature issue is gone. CPU frequency is more stable at lower temperature, and runs very fast.

I paid $229.99 for this. It's an 8 core, 16 thread processor that you can clock up to about 4.733ghz all core by upping the base clock on a z490 motherboard to 102.9. Good news - BCLK isn't tied to anything but CPU + memory frequency on Intel! They've separated all the other stuff that breaks. Paired with Micron Rev E (Crucial Ballistix 3600cl16) w/ memory overclocked to 4390mhz, it's fantastic (couldn't go further because of memory controller in the CPU.) But why isn't it unlocked? It would cost nothing for Intel to sell every CPU unlocked like AMD does, and overclocking an Intel processor right now actually gives you gains, unlike AMD with their already efficient boost algorithms. I would still hesitantly recommend this at $270, but it lacks PCIE 4.0 and is ... MoreI paid $229.99 for this. I would still hesitantly recommend this at $270, but it lacks PCIE 4.0 and is severely limited by that stock 4.6ghz boost clock. One of these at 5ghz with tuned memory would handily outperform a 5600x in games.

I wanted today a powerful CPU that can match or even surpass the performance of the Xbox series X CPU, someday games will requiere 8 cores 16 threads as a minimun, so why not get it today? That's why I went with a core i7 instead of a more cheaper 6C12T core i5. But beware, is hot as hell, it requires an excellent cooler to achieve sub 60C temps.

Standard cooler with a copper core. Very loud cooler when the CPU is in automatic booster. Immediately change the complete cooler, for example, to Noctua NH-U14S. It gets very quiet and max 70-75 degrees under load. The standard cooler gave out under a load of 100 C.

There is nothing wrong with this processor. Depending on the motherboard you choose you will see a difference in performance. I choose the AsRock W480 Creator. Anandtech.com has a great article on this processor. Also Steve at Gamers Nexus has great information on the behavior of the 10700k with different motherboards. With my board I have seen the power draw go to 183 watts at 4.6mhz during cinebench r23 for around 50 seconds, then the processor's power draw drops to 95 watts and it slows to 3.6 mhz. When I actually encode a video it uses 82 watts at 4.6mhz. So it depends on what you are doing. I use a Noctua NH U 9s cooler with dual fans. Temps average 68 c at the highest. I like it and would not hesitate to purchase another if needed.

Working as intended
6 July 2021

- so far the work I do is minimal on photo editing and this has made things run beyond better then the old surface 3 I had. Of course with the nvme ssd also helps along with an MSI board and 16gb 3600mhz. Motherboard has features to add more juice to the cpu up to the 4.8ghz that the CPU is capable of. So far I have not run into many jobs needing more horse power. Once I get a better gpu then I can comment on the performance for video editing and gaming. But till then I am satisfied.

one great gaming CPU, if you own a graphic card. Fast and reliable, it can manage every task without any issue. It is better to use a third party coooler: the one included is very poor.
