The 13th gen of Intel desktop CPUs is really beefy!Only downside? Heat generation. Get a good air cooler or watercooling, because these little blocs of transistors and silicium will easily climb to 95C-100C.A good way to manage the heat is also to throttle the maximum cores speeds with Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. By slowing down your cores a few 0,4Ghz on the P-cores and 0,3Ghz on the E-cores, you can reduce the heat generation by 33% as well as power consumption, resulting in a sacrifice lesser than 5% of your performances. Good trade-off, IMO. LOther than that, the i5 13600K is a good starting point for a gaming PC, not too expensive and quite versatile if you plan on doing more than just gaming.

I had not built a PC in over 10 years and started researching on B&H. This CPU and motherboard combination clearly met my needs at a great price. The shipped packages arrived a day early along with the hard drive and fans I ordered. Computer was built the next day and has been amazing. I found B&H very helpful about compatibility of components so I was assured of hassle free set-up. As I grow my system my first stop will be B&H as it is for my photo and music hobbies.

I wanted something a little less hot than a 13900K that I also own, but also something that would perform well for my work-from-home PC. The 13600K fit that bill perfectly. It still does run hot out of the box, but I undervolted it and I am able to keep temps between under 47 degrees when I process my work apps, and at idle it hovers around the mid 30 degree marks on average. I don't game on this particular PC but I do have a 4060TI card on a Z790 DDR5 mobo if I did want to do some light gaming and I am sure it would be up to the task easily. I could not recommend this CPU enough, but just know it can run hot so keep that in mind.

Fantastic processor. Powerful, fast, runs at great temps. I went to this from a 10850k and could not be happier with it. It regularly clocks itself up to 5.8ghz in single core processes and never gives me a single issue. 12/13th Gen Intel processors are really a fantastic lineup.
This processor is beastly for the price point. Don't let the i5 designation fool you - this processor will do absolutely everything you want it to do unless you work in a field where the higher core counts of the i7 and i9 are necessary. If you aren't sure whether you need the extra cores, then you don't. For Joe Schmos like me, the 13600k is a great value and an excellent performer. A couple tips: 1. Look into custom mounting brackets, as these can lower the operating temperature. Using these can be tricky, but it's worth it. 2. Consider setting a limit on the turbo, otherwise it will run at 184W at all times when under load. This is not usually necessary, the 125W non-boost limit is already great performance, and it will pull 184W for short periods for sudden ... MoreThis processor is beastly for the price point. Air cooling should be enough to keep it cool, but make sure you get a high-end unit! Cheap-but-good won't be enough for the heat this workhorse produces.
Solid performance for a mid range system, no complaints! Stays pretty cool with a 240 AIO even when running multiple applications and gaming. If you don’t NEED the best or the best, this is a good budget option. Would still like to see the prices come down more in line with what budget/midrange Intel was like a few years ago, but in the current market it doesn’t seem like we will see that any time soon
I recently upgraded to the Intel Core i5-13600K 13th Gen processor and it's been a huge step up. The 14 cores make my computer really fast, whether I'm gaming, working, or just browsing the web. It goes from 3.5 to 5.1 GHz, so it's super quick but also flexible depending on what I need. I noticed everything runs smoother now, even when I have lots of programs open. It was easy to install, and it's been reliable since day one. This processor gives me exactly what I need for a great price. Couldn't ask for more.
Solid cpu. Best cpu I've ever used. Amd can't touch it at the price. It's about to go down in price due to 14th gen. The 14th gen isn't any better. Just slightly more power efficient. Save your money and get the 13th gen. Just know you absolutely NEED at least a 240mm aio to cool it. If you have a water cooler, great but get ready to spend more on a cooler. Once you get it properly installed and cooled, it's a big boy cpu with big boy pants performance. Don't hesitate, just buy it. It's that good. I have a feeling, it'll be hard to replace in the future. I think we're looking at the next 2600k. I'm betting you'll use it for a decade and not think twice about it.
I recently invested in a new processor, and it has exceeded my expectations. The performance boost is palpable across various applications and tasks. Whether it’s demanding software or intense gaming sessions, this processor handles everything effortlessly. The multi-core efficiency is commendable, ensuring smooth multitasking without compromising speed. The energy efficiency is a welcome feature, contributing to a cooler overall system. In summary, this processor stands out as a powerhouse solution for users aiming to elevate their computing experience to new heights.
The i5-13600K is a great value and punches above its weight. If you play videogames and have a RTX 4070/4070Ti, these two pair up extremely well. While an i7-13700K may seem like the better CPU, it is at least $100 more. The performance difference in videogames is very minimal. A few frames per second. It has been able to run everything I have thrown at it including workstation programs. Video editing programs run smoothly.Highly recommended for price and performance, without sacrificing performance. A great value.
