I had my reservations about these when comparing the price to other, rigid Kayaks. But after using the two that were purchased, I was actually very surprised at how decent they were.Easy to inflate with a double action pump, only needing a couple minutes, so it is no hastle blowing them up on the bank of the river/lake where you want to use them. They are also super easy to deflate.Only slight issue I found was that as these are blow up, ypu obviously lose the rigidity, thus meaning you need to paddle a little more, but hey a little extra excercise never hurt anyone. And the kods absolutely loved them so for me these were a massive win, and at the price, you cant go wrong, especially if you arent wanting to spend alot on something you arent sure ypu will enjoy!

This is a relatively cheap introduction to kayaking and you get what you pay for. The kayak itself is pretty good, relatively sturdy on the water and capable of carrying about 160kgs (two adults and a dog). The setup is easy enough but the pump left a lot to be desired, falling apart for no apparent reason or easily popping the shaft out if pump stroke was a little too long.Upon pack up, it is hard to remove all the air out of the chambers so it feels a lot bulkier when folded - fortunately the carry bag allows for a little extra room.We experienced a puncture and used the included patch to stem the air loss however the patch did not hold for too long and needed to be replaced on the fly.Overall, they did what we expected them to do - enabling the family to ... MoreThis is a relatively cheap introduction to kayaking and you get what you pay for. I recently bought this one. It is a 2 seater but can easily used by one person too. I am over 70kg so most one seaters were not an option for me.Assembling is very easy (but there are YouTube videos if needed). The paddles are easy to put together and different settings are possible. Deflation is a bit more tricky (or I haven't figured out the best way) but doesn't take long either. Takes a bit of practice to get everything back into the carry bag.I highly recommend it if you don't have much storage space or not too sure yet if kayaking is a sport you would enjoy.

Bought 2 kayaks for my family. I was very impressed with the quality for the price. Comes with everything you need. Very easy to set up and inflate, quicker than I thought and now we know what to do it will be quicker next time (10 mins). Very buoyant even with my 16.5st husband. Comfortable seats, we were out in them for an hour out and an hour back with a break in between. It comes with an indicator for how much to inflate them which is a great idea as we over inflated them first time. Everything packs in reasonably well to the carrier bag but not sure the bag will stand the test of time. We dried the kayaks before packing them away to make sure they last as long as possible. Only taken them out once so far so hopefully well have the same experience next time. The ... MoreBought 2 kayaks for my family. I was very impressed with the quality for the price. PLUS these paddles can be stored in 4 sections, which makes them so much easier to carry around, especially public transport, than other collapsible paddles, which only fold in two.nb, the paddles are 220 cm, and one was used for a full day by a 7yearold tooAlso the pump is useful, more compact and with more volume than the Tribord one you can get off decathlon mover volume, less pumping, but we preferred to take the Tribord pump with us, as it looked sturdier. The kayak comes with a smallish skeg, to help it tracking moving straight. Its removable and comes with a sort of safety catch so that you dont lose hitting underwater obstacles. It worked we went over some submerged logs, as well as when stuck on some hopping in the kayak to get over them and the skeg didnt get dislodged. I cant say how useful for tracking it really is, as we never tried the kayak without it. The wisdom of crowd says use a skeg, because youll never be able to go straight without. So we do.Theres also a conically shaped floatation bag which you can insert in the front or back, presumably helps in emergency if one of the main chambers gets a puncture. We used it, just because it was there. Takes up some, but not too much space, perhaps 10 l.I THINK although Im not sure now that the kayak kit also included a patch or two and a tube of glue. Absolutely essential to have at handBuild quality the kayak looked fine, survived a week on a river 8 hours a day. One seat did start to split back and seat sections are joined by a piece of plastic, but that was due to my daugher taking a VERY reclining position, I suppose.Features the net around the front is useful, in principle, but very, very poorly designed. The sides are bungee cord, but very loose, and no way to make them stay close to the board, so in theory some smaller items tucked away there might slip overboard.A drawback the kayak has no bilge limber hole. This is VERY useful to drain extra water after a days trip, and this water can hardly be removed by tipping kayak upside down. LARGE sponge helps solve this problem.Comfort my wife and kids took turns didnt complain. Definitely the seats were MUCH comfier than those on Savylor Tahiti which are disastrous.Safety stability control its very stable, like any inflatable kayak. Apparently much stabler than any rigid one I dont know, havent been in rigids for 30 years . There was never any danger of it capsizing that said, we didnt test it by standing up or trying to capsize it on purpose. Its definitely much easier to control and responds quicker, than our Tahiti 2 3 person, longer kayak though. It seems tough, we did hit some underwater rocks and tree logs and branches, with only minor scratches to the bottom.Theres one thing that is potentially unsafe there are only two chambers, i.e. bottom and top ones. With three chambers left board, right board, and bottom, you stay afloat better if one of those three goes puncture. Fewer chambers more chance of a problem. Thats theory for us, as we never got either chamber punctured, even though the kayak took some abuse from submerged branches and rocks relatively speaking, of course.Storage somebody complained it has little storage for longer trips. I would disagree. Even with the floatation chamber under the bow, we were able to fit a large around 15 20 l fabric coolbox with stove, cooking utensils and days food under the bow, PLUS 2 x 2 l water bottles, and then, you still have plenty of space under the netting to fit bulky, but lighter items, e.g. sleeping bags, etc. And then, theres v. similar storage space behind 2nd seat. You can also fit some bungee cords or netting around the back, although in our case most of the gear went in our tahiti 2.While this is not an expedition kayak, with some planning I would be able to fit all gear and food for a 2person, selfcontained trip for a week or more.Portability this is a letdown, as the kayak is about 5 kg heavier than our Savylor Tahiti 2, which is, after all, a three person kayak. I reckon the K2 is around 17 kg inc. seats and floatation bag, but ex. paddles and pump. Not much heavier than many other inflatables, but somewhat disappointing in comparison with Savylor. That said, the material felt stiffer and thicker than Savylors Tahiti perhaps you get better durability for extra weightLastly, a couple of tips1. You WILL get wet. When its warm or hot, its fine or great. In colder weather, getting wet means staying wet and the mood plunges. Do yourself a favour and pack EVERYTHING of clothing in proper waterproof roll bags. These days you can buy cheap Chinese ones off ebay, or splash out on branded ones, e.g. Ortlieb best in the world, probably the priciest too2. Sandals webbing, not leatherstrapped are essential footwear see above you WILL get wet. Flipflops are fine until the stream takes them. Shoes are fine until they get wet and stay wet Sandals will chafe your feet when wet, but theres nothing better I know. Proven waterproof plasters help.3. This kayak is v. quick to inflate around 1 2 min but a pain to clean of sand, grit, leaves and dead spiders, also a bit hard to deflate and fold, as the fabricplastic is very stiff. HOWEVER, if you have a chance to expose it to hot sun for several minutes, it becomes very pliable and folding is VERY easy and in the sun it should dry best still semiinflated in several minutes too. Btw, we store both kayaks jointly, in an oversized Ortlieb canoe bag 130, both fit with paddles and seats, just. And you can carry the bag as it comes with shoulder straps. If you enjoy carrying 80 lb on your back, that is.

Only been out in it once but I am very impressed. This kayak inflates incredibly quickly. Id already blown up the footrest and seats before I got to the waters edge. The kayak itself was done in under five minutes.Once on the water it is relatively easy to get into and with consistent paddling it gets you through the water in a straight line. The included oars are pretty good although a friend of mine who also has this kayak uses a single piece oar and says it is a lot better. I did my research and found that this kayak included a Skeg which other reviewers had said was a key feature of this kayak and reviewers of similar kayaks in this price range had said they had bought skegs as a 1015 optional extra. I did my research and found that this kayak included a Skeg which other reviewers had said was a key feature of this kayak and reviewers of similar kayaks in this price range had said they had bought skegs as a 1015 optional extra. So I thought why not just buy the kayak that has it in the first place.I paddled alone so cannot comment on how suitable it is at carrying two adults. I intend on taking my four year old son out in it eventually and it will be more than capable.I did find it got carried by the wind but that is something that will happen with every inflatable as they just dont have the mass to handle the effects of the wind. This lightness does also make getting out of kayak quite difficult without getting wet. Again this isnt going to be unique to this kayak but because it is very stable there is little chance of it capsizing. I imagine you probably could if you tried hard enough but it would take some effort. I found myself sitting up whilst paddling rather than leaning back into the seat. Perhaps I need to adjust the strap that goes around the back of the seat for better comfort but I did find that this was the only thing stopping me from giving this kayak five stars. I was slightly uncomfortable after about an hour or so.Overall though I am very pleased with its performance and it isnt too difficult to pack away. I gave it a quick hose down when I got home and left it out to dry in the sun for a day or so. You will need to towel down the inner bits to get it completely dry. It packs back down nicely and isnt too heavy once all back in its bag although you wouldnt want to carry it too far.I would highly recommend it.

I decided to purchase the Mk2 K2 because i will be using it for a week long excursion around the Norfolk broads and will be taking both the dogsuseless navigators but EXCELLENT ballast. The MK2 is an improvement over what was already an incredibly good kayak for the money. The MK1 didnt track very well and had no fin. The MK2 benefits from having a fin and it tracks quite well. I have scraped along stony bottoms in shallow water, hit a jagged log that was submersed around 3 below the surface and i really thought that was it for the kayak. Nope. A long scratch but no breach. There is loads of storage space both aft and bow,the seats gives reasonably good back support but i would recommend that you fully inflate the back rest and only semi inflate the seat. This is simply because the seat sits a little high if fully inflated and the sides of the backrest tend to ride up against the inside of the craft. Or maybe I just need to lose weight...A few does and donts DO NOT overtighten the Boston valves that inflate floor and sides. If you cross thread them they will leak and that is about it for the kayak unless you want to be pumping it up every 15 minute or so. Turn the male part until it is finger tight and then maybe another quarter of a turn. They dont need to be tight for a seal to be created. DO NOT take this kayak out on the ocean unless you are absolutely certain of calm sea conditions,it is a low profile kayak and has no drainage. A few good waves and your going to fill up.DO NOT over inflate. You risk splitting the seams or stretching the body out of shape, causing it to list to one side. Use the 10cm calibration stripyoull find it inside the manual package and if you lose it,inflate the kayak up to the point that you can press your thumb into it about an inch.A little on the soft side will still float you 100 fine. DO use a lifejacket and invest a few pounds in a paddle leash. The paddles. Ive read a few negative reviews on the paddles that are supplied with this kayak and i think that the users were eitherA clubbing other kayakers with themB unlucky to have got part of a dodgy batch. I like them. They can be feathered, the blades are a nice shape, they are quite light and as long as you use them sensibly, they will do the job..To concludeThis isnt a rubber duck. It is strong, portablenot too heavy, around 20lb or soand incredibly good value for money when compared to kayaks three times the pricei have a gumotex Helios K1 that cost me around 350.Superb, but the Intex gives it a run for its money in the strenght department at LEAST,has a gaurantee and if used within the manufacturers stipulations, should last you for a good long while. Oh and the pump is pretty good.Inflation time of around 510 minutes. No hesitation recommending this kayak, based upon experience and not just what it looks like.Have fun and be safe

So, its ok. We got it to see how much we liked it, before investing a bit more in a Sevylor kayak. For this purpose it is excellent. It comes with everything you need, including two sets of paddles and a pump, so you can literally be going 5 minutes after it arrives. Assuming of course that it doesnt have a hole in it. The first one to arrive did have a hole fortunately I tested it out in the living room, so we avoided major hassle, and Amazon refunded the postage although you do have to ship it yourself first. Happily, the second one works like a charm we have taken it out on the sea several times in still conditions. Here are my observationsProsQuick to inflateLoads of room for storage at the front and backTwo sets of paddles that fold up really smallPump feels cheap, but works really well.Tracks well with the included skeg finAdjustable seat positionsConsSingle skin, which feels a little vulnerableOnly two chambers, and it feels like if the bottom one burst out on the water you might have trouble getting back. The side wall is quite fat, so you rub it when you paddleThe cargo net is rubbishThe carry bag is made of cheeseMassive pain trying to get it back into the bag when wetsandyIn summary, I wouldnt pay over 100 for it, and I would be careful about where you use it. Goes without saying that you should wear a buoyancy aidjacket. After a few months use on the sea it is still doing well we hose it down and dry it after each use. Over inflating seems to be a big issue, so watch out for that. It has given us the bug, and made us invest in a better one, and that was really why we got it, so Im pretty pleased. The main benefit of inflatable kayaks is that it folds away fairly small, transportation is easy, and you dont need to be Heman to lift it. That said, it weights just over 20kg, and unlike other brands, doesnt have any way of carrying it on your back, so its easier to carry with two adults.

Leaked before it was even used.

Bought at Nunawading store for Christmas present to take on annual holiday to Merimbula. First time we used it we pumped it up in the evening for use next morning and when we went to get it we found it deflated with a leak on the inside of the floor before we’d even gotten into it ???? Given nearest store is Canberra 3hrs away we used supplied patch and tried it anyway but deflated again over a few hours. Was fine for the short time it was inflated and paddled and tracked well. Very poor quality product which we will be returning for a refund as soon as we go back to Melbourne. We’re not alone, read the reviews on various sites and others had similar problems. Pay for the quality you get, so won’t buy inflatable again, despite the convenience of not needing racks.

Macpac failed me
16 January 2022

This review is more of a reflection of the brand than the product. We had used our Kayak 2 times and it was great, kids loved it. However, we had a wildlife issue when a koala used it to get up a tree and put a hole in it (very unfortunate). I asked Macpac if there was anything they could do in this circumstance but as it's not a manufacturing fault they would not help me. I guess I thought as they are an outdoor brand they might have some compassion for this very unfortunate event. I have patched the kayak as they said to do. But worry that in the future the patch will fail and could put my family in danger. I guess that is the risk when buying inflatable products. So tip don't place it at the base of a tree.
