If you have an acoustic act or band that does not play super loud these are great. I plug my Taylor guitar into a single system with a mic and it is all I need. If you have an acoustic act, you can stop reading here, and go and buy these. One system will sound great for you. Two will give you a huge sound. I compared these to the Bose L1 and these are better. They have significantly more bass and their overall presence is impressive for such a small footprint. I was blown away by how good my Taylor Acoustic guitar sounds through these. They were designed for acoustic guitar and do not disappoint. I was blown away by how good my Taylor Acoustic guitar sounds through these. They were designed for acoustic guitar and do not disappoint. I also have a Motown band with bass, guitar, drums, 3 horns and male and female vocals and for me, the question was whether they would do the job for the band. I bought two of these because I was tired of carrying around a huge PA. I am glad I bought them. So far, I am pleased if not blown away. They have a great sound and do the job. Because the mixer section of the JBL is not sufficient for a band. I am continuing to use my Berringer powered mixer along with these. I have used them two ways. In one configuration, I run a single cable out of the main, preamp out, to a single JBL Eon One and then "daisy chain" the second JBL via a long RCA cable. This allows me to use a second set ofsmall PA speakers that I connect to the powered output of the monitor side of the amp. I used this configuration when I employed the system for a blues jam during which the players were obnoxiously loud and I thought I might need the extra speakers. I set the JBL's up behind the band and even though the guitar players did their best to play slightly louder than the vocals, the JBL's were loud enough and did not feedback. When playing with my band, who are professionals who, usually, do not overplay the vocals, I simply run a single cable to each JBL from the left and right preamp of the mixer. This allows me to have as many channels as I want and also allows me to use the vocal effects that are built in on the board. I noticed that they disperse sound really well and you do not have the issue of the speakers being super loud right in front of them and then not so loud a few feet to the side. There is one caveat. These are really built for an acoustic setting and I generally end up setting the JBL's pretty close to full volume. However, they have handled it just fine so far and they sound good. I have only used them twice so far and am still working on the E.Q. and vocal effects settings a bit. They have plenty of bass and do not feedback. I do wish that they had a bit more power so that I would not have to drive them so hard. However, they weigh about 40 pounds each and I can carry the entire PA in one trip. They don't distort, get hot or show any other ill effects of being driven hard so I am not sweating it and I am thinking that they will be okay. To give you an idea of how we use them, generally, we play venues where we play rasonably loud, as we have 3 horns, but not so loud that people have to shout at each other to be heard. If you have a pro band that plays at a reasonable volume you should be okay. If you have a really loud rock or metal band, you should probably keep your 1 x 15 and horn cabinets. By going to a single 2x10 bass cabinet and using this PA, I can fit my whole setup in my Cadillac. I no longer have to wonder if my old truck is going to make it to the gig. I hope this has been helpful. If you have a band that plays at a reasonable volume and are tired of carrying the two cabinets, poles and monitors, two of these will do it for you. Ultimately, for the band, I think it would be great to have 4 of these. However, I am thinking that my wife would kill me if I bought two more.

Does OK for what it's designed for.

Great for Solo Artists. Not so much for others.

I bought an EON One two weeks ago with hopes that it would work great for my acoustic duo as I was tired of lugging 120+ lbs of PA equipment to gigs. As other reviewers have noted, there is a serious lack of gain available for channel 3 & 4. You need a very strong pre-amp (i.e. stomp box boost/compressor) if you intend to plug your instruments directly into these channels and have any volume.Channel 1 and 2 are great for vocals. The best attribute about this unit is that the vocals are crystal clear. In fact, this unit seems to be designed for 1 vocalist and 1 guitarist. When used for two vocalists (channel 1 and 2) and two instruments (channel 3 and 4) the unit could not maintain that great, transparent sound that JBL is known for.Despite having a dedicated ... MoreI bought an EON One two weeks ago with hopes that it would work great for my acoustic duo as I was tired of lugging 120+ lbs of PA equipment to gigs. I am not talking about the internal limiter which will indicate/light if the system is driven too hard, I am talking about obvious internal compression that is applied to overall mix to the determent of bass signals. You would never know that the system has a subwoofer because the bass was serious lacking... so buyer beware.Other nits... the reverb is not great (Harmon also owns Lexicon). In fact dialing in more than 9 o'clock is unusable. As others have noted, JBL needs to add more "real channels" (separate pre-amps/EQ), more power (no way the LF is 280W) and a couple of mid-range drivers to the array and it would be a real winner.

Great idea, weak implementation of mixer.

I purchased this unit to use with a vocal duo with guitar, percussion and 2 vocal Mics. The unit had the proper inputs to allow me to leave the old PA with mixer, speakers, monitors and stands behind. Or so I thought. I bought this over the alternatives because of the 2 mic channels and other inputs for guitar and percussion processor. The mic preamps (or lack of them) are detinitely an issue. We use a SM58 and Shure wired headset mic and without some type of mixer or inline preamp there's is insufficient level. I wanted a standalone unit and still have to carry a mixer or mic preamps. We played a gig and another act had a competitor's unit that did not require a workaround. We played a gig and another act had a competitor's unit that did not require a workaround. I also played percussion for a band that had a different competitor's unit and again, no problem. Pegging the mic gain and bringing everything else down results in insufficient volume. The issue disappears when using external preamps. Everything else about this unit is excellent. Yes, the tower segments are tight but they don't rattle or vibrate under heavy bass. Sound quality and coverage is great once you work around the mic issue. Bluetooth works great. It would be 5 stars if you could just plug and play.

Great sound! Just what Id expect from JBL
11 February 2020

I have heard a couple of these line array style PAs in live situations in the last year. I thought they all sounded great and for small venues theyre the perfect answer. My son has been getting into music. We have jam sessions in the family room and one of us is always singing or trying to over drums and electric guitar. So I decided to look at purchasing one for our sessions. I ended up deciding on the JBL Eon One because of the reviews and the quality sound I know JBL for. I was very happy the first time we used this for one of our Jam sessions. Its got great sound a very usable reverb and its easy to setup. After hearing the JBL Eon One she asked if she could borrow it for a gig she and the piano player were doing! I got a call from her on one of their breaks telling me how impressed her and Peter were with it. The have a small mixer so they were able to put 2 mics and 2 keyboards through it. They had brought along their monitors because Peter didnt believe they could put the JLB behind them without getting feedback. They ended up not using their monitors! They are in the process of buyingEon One. The ease of use, great sound quality and lack of having to lug around lots of other equipment make the JBL a no-brainer for the working musician and band jams at home! Great product!

Great speaker for price range and design
13 March 2017

It's bit pricey compared to today's general powered loudspeakers and you have to decide what your needs and applications are. For me, this may not handle a larger room with 300 or more guests but it can certainly accompany a loudspeaker setup if you already have one. One big advantage with this design is no speaker stands like you'd use with a standard loudspeaker. The smaller footprint of this design gives you more options for placement in any room, especially where space is tight. Also, as you do not need to raise this type of speaker on a stand, you'll get back about 4 to 5 feet of both electrical and audio cord. As this is rated at 380 watts, in my opinion I'm not planning on using this for crowds larger than 300 guests and also based upon the room size. As this is rated at 380 watts, in my opinion I'm not planning on using this for crowds larger than 300 guests and also based upon the room size. I've played with the various models of Bose speakers over the past year and against the comparable price point and design of the L1 Compact, I think this one beats it down. It simply puts out much more bass and what seems like a cleaner sound coming out of the tweeter stack. Does it compare to something like the L1 Model II with the B2 bass module? Probably not but then again, that's a whole different price point. Now from a design standpoint, I think it defeats all the Bose L1 models in that the stacks get stored into the speaker itself and you're not lugging around different bags to house things like with the Bose brand. I don't use this for acoustical/band performances, but for DJ applications and I think it'll work great if you're looking for really good sound with a crowd of 300 guests or less and a smaller room. If you need something more that will provide louder sound, do your homework on the standard offerings of powered loudspeakers currently out there that provide around 1000 watts on average nowadays. Because I don't use this for performance applications, I did read that the mic-pre's aren't that great on this speaker and I agree, having tried simply plugging in an MP3 player into one of the mic inputs just to see. The other inputs work fine in that instance. Me, even if you're performing, I'd still recommend an external mixer as the supposed 'mixer' on this speaker is nice, but I'm not so sure practical, if I haven't yet gotten the XLR inputs to simply work without some sort of external help. As a DJ, I'm plugging into the speaker anyway from an external mixer. For my applications, this will be replacing my Mackie SRM450 2nd Gen as my everyday speaker for gigs and I'll reserve the loudspeakers for exactly that, when being loud is more important than sounding good. Recommended.

It could be so much better

I've had my Eon now for 6 months and tried it in a variety of performance settings. I was hoping that I could use it as a stand a lone plug and play amp for school concerts. Not so easy....Good things....- fast and easy setup - takes all of 1 minute! I like that!- Sound - sounds great - if only it was loud enough to hear it.- Portability - nice size and package - with the speaker tucked away.- Bluetooth makes it easy to play music from an iphone.Disappointments...- why would someone make a pa that has such weak preamps on the mic ins that the only way to get volume is to add either a mixer or an addition inline preamp. It doesn't make sense. I can't even fill my bedroom with sound with a SM58 with both volumes knobs at full level. Adding a mixer with preamps is the only way to use this amp.- moveability - built in rollers would have made it much easier to move without having to pay an extra $150 for a bag. The bottom is an odd shape that you can't just use your own folding luggage cart, since it won't sit flat and will fall off the cart. A collapsible pull up handle like on all luggage, with back rollers would make this a really convenient package.

NONE's better than EON!
9 January 2019

I've played my Les Paul thru it, my classical/electric thru it, sang thru it & listened to YouTube thru it. This EON is incredible. The 8" speakers put out ear-piercing 300 watts of sound. Plenty for any backyard party or indoor party. The setting which includes reverb balance it all for any tone you want. Even though you can play your electric axe thru it, the EON is not designed for this. The Les Paul sounded too bright, even after adjusting the EQ settings. You can get by if you need a quick plug-in to work on a song with out plugging into another amp. Each channel has its own settings. The EON is very portable & snaps together nicely in a suitcase-style fashion, making it easy to carry, set up & take down. I keep the mixer & speakers apart in the bedroom for solitude practicing & listening to YouTube. Then, I just snap it all together & go. when I discovered this had Bluetooth, I was sold right there! You can play along with any song thru your mobile device. The Bluetooth does not interfere with my XViVe U2 wireless transmitter & receiver. Vocally, the sounds are awsum, too. The accompanying AKG vocal mic works brilliantly! The speakers have a 38mm pole socket for mounting onto speaker poles for maximum outreach. They're also light enough to sit on any cabinet or table. The 2 speaker cables, wall cable, AKG mic & mic cord all fit in a nice, stow-away compartment behind the mixer. Bottom line: I recommend this for any singer-songwriter, DJ, or party host. The price is worth it with the Bluetooth capability.

I got this in 10 days ago and put it to its paces, my findings overall are good for the most part. I feel the structure is not as I'd expect of a pro style equip, very plastic and the arrays and extensions are so very hard to separate as the plastic material is such perhaps over time they may loosen up , im just hoping that it won't mess up the connections having to pry it open.certainly there are some missing elements like perhaps an xlr line out, not sure how they call it a 6channel mixer perhaps because of the left and right RCA inputs or the 1/4 inputs but I'm not sure u can use them both together the rca and 1/4inch inputs same with Bluetooth and the mini stereo jack input, not sure u can plug in something and use Bluetooth at the same time or is it because ... MoreI got this in 10 days ago and put it to its paces, my findings overall are good for the most part. The base is good, sadly almost too much, wish there was a way to control the base output(without an external mixer), the midrange leaves a little to be questioned, however it does sound great out doors. Indoors it takes on a different feel. Bluetooth seems to constantly noticeably drop and can be rather annoying. I yet have to call customer service to ask about that, not sure it's a manufacturing defect or it's just not a well configurated element in the whole system?get used to disconnecting Bluetooth every time u use a different device even tho only one of them is being used, small but annoying something to do, doesn't happen in other JBL products. Great portability factor ,ease of use and set up,is what I went for and I have that. Overall decent sound I'd say ,poorly constructed (the cheaply plastic feel/look does not effect sound) but I'd expect a little better from JBL.(The smaller components they make look and feel sharp)

Worst purchase I've ever made in my DJ Career
14 October 2019

I first purchased this speaker on 9/15/18. On the night of 9/15/18, the same day I bought it, the speaker gave me trouble at a paid gig when we couldn’t hear the music come out of the speaker. Thankfully I was DJ’ing a close friend’s 50th birthday party, and I told them I would drive home (10 miles drive, 20 minutes each way) to get my two reliable (but heavy) EV speakers. Halfway en route from party to home, I got a call from the party that they got speaker to work and to return to the party. Turns out the speakers weren’t aligned correctly. I began DJ’ing half an hour later than I was hired. I bought this speaker to use at small events. It gave me trouble again when it would not play even though the XLR cables were connected correctly from my mixer. I turned the ... MoreI first purchased this speaker on 9/15/18. I began DJ’ing half an hour later than I was hired. I bought this speaker to use at small events. It gave me trouble again when it would not play even though the XLR cables were connected correctly from my mixer. I turned the JBL speaker off and then back on, and it then started playing.I was hired to DJ a small outdoor wedding on September 29, 2019 for which I was relying on this speaker for the outdoor wedding ceremony. The night before the wedding, I connected the speaker to my Pioneer DDJ-SSR mixer with the two XLR cables. No sounds. I did trouble-shooting, replacing XLR cables in case it was the cables, nothing. I connected my laptop to the JBL with an aux cord, nothing. No sound at all. We had to use a small portable bluetooth speaker for the wedding ceremony, which was barely audible. The JBL FAILED ME COMPLETELY. I am not happy with this product at all and should have purchased a Bose as advised by friends in the DJ business, but was convinced at Guitar Center that the JBL would be a better fit for me. Unfortunately it is the most unreliable product I’ve ever purchased in my DJ career, not to mention super expensive. I don’t mind paying money for reliable products, but wasting money on garbage is painful.Thankfully I purchased the extended warranty/insurance from Guitar Center. Unfortunately, Guitar Center makes you ship the speaker via UPS, a huge inconvenience since you have to find a way to wrap up the speaker and box it yourself, since UPS charges $60 to do it. Had I known what an inconvenience and nightmare this purchase would cause me, I would have never in a million years purchased it.
