The reason I agreed to review these earbuds is because I wanted to try something new. My current earbuds have a limited amount of battery power. Only four and a half hours of maximum playtime. Then I opened the app and since I’d already connected them previously they were already displayed and connected. The JBL app has a multitude of different settings that outperform all others I have used. You can easily open it and change the settings to your liking.Within the app there is ambient sound control. Which is where you can activate noise canceling, ambient aware & talk thru. I found the best sound came when I had the active noise cancelling activated. These earbuds advertise as having “pure bass” and “zero noise”. The bass on them is superior and the zero noise feature (active noise canceling) is on point. In order to have these fit in my ear I had to remove the pre installed “open” ear tip and replace it with large “sealing” ear tip. This was not easy to do. It made me really frustrated and it took me way too long to replace. As far as touch controls on the earbuds it’s the typical standard of one tap for play pause, two taps for fast forward, three taps for rewind. Double tap to answer or hang up an incoming call. And long press for mic.My expectation for these earbuds was average based on their price point. Their sound quality, active noise cancelling and battery life exceeded my expectations. However, I don’t like that they don’t automatically stop functioning when I pull them out of my ear. It has to be done manually. The touch control on the ear bud is activated accidentally when handling them. The earbuds were not easy to pull out of the charging case each time. I expected them to have better grip but was disappointed when I struggled to grasp them. The charging case is very lightweight. It has a matte finish which also makes it difficult to hold onto. But I am fairly pleased overall with these JBL tune flex earbuds. Definitely the best features are their sound quality (including bass), active noise cancelling, and extra, extra long battery life. Thanks JBL!

My lovely mother bought me this and I do quite enjoy it!! To turn on and off the sound cancellation, you have to hold the left earbud down (make sure your hair isn’t in the way) and count to one Mississippi. It works to turn the audio both on, and off. To pause what you’re listening to, you hold down the right earbud for one Mississippi and it will pause. The battery life is one thing I really enjoy about it because out of all the headphones I have ever used (which is a lot) this has the longest battery. I can go through a nine hour school day without it dying plus I wear it a bit before and after. I like the fact that if anyone around me is bugging me while I’m trying to get my work done I can just silence them, and whenever the teacher is talking I can unsilence ... MoreMy lovely mother bought me this and I do quite enjoy it!! However, when it comes to calls, the headphones don’t have a built-in microphone meaning that the audio your device picks up is from the audio sucker thing on the device. Overall though, if you don’t expect to have perfectly clear audio quality like other headphones, I absolutely love these. I’m not positive about the microphone thing but I just think so bc it doesn’t work on my iPhone XR (it could be because my phone type) or a handful of others device. But I’m not a NPC just in case you were wondering (honestly I ’m only saying this bc I feel like there are a few npcs). If you read this i hope this helps you out, have a lovely day, night, evening :)) If your the maker of these, I would recommend putting a microphone in it then they would be by far my dream headphones but otherwise your work is pretty impressive so good job, have a good day even if your a robot responding :))

Great for glove-wearing city commuters
6 March 2023

The buds themselves are pretty large which are great for glove-wearers like me during my commutes by train/bus. Buds came with three different earpiece sizes and I ended up using the smallest ones. They work although I wish there were a size between small and medium. The touch-buttons on each earbud work as intended to activate the noise modes, play/pause, and answering calls. Again, these are pretty large so great for glove wearers (easy to press). The noise-cancelling mode is just ok, definitely not on the level of some of the other higher end headphones, but at this price, it still helps cut out more than half the noise/drone from the train/bus engines. What surprised me was the active awareness mode, which acts as like an hearing aid effect, to amplify your ... MoreThe buds themselves are pretty large which are great for glove-wearers like me during my commutes by train/bus. I would definitely recommend for your first pair or again, glove-wearing commuters. Perhaps I'll look into a higher model next time for even higher noise-cancelling performance.

Great for on-the-go listening!
24 February 2023

Regarding sound and usability, these headphones are perfect for the casual listener; they’re a great value for the quality they supply. They have an even balance and a moderate soundstage. While they lack the really deep bass of higher-tier earbuds, I think that only improves their usability as on-the-go and background music headphones. Listening through these doesn’t feel obtrusive like other earbuds I’ve used, both in sound and the actual feel of them in your ear. The touch controls are responsive, but not overly so and I didn’t have issues accidentally pressing them. They also have a pretty solid noise-canceling effect (ear tips impact this heavily), so overall these are great on-the-go headphones! And the look and feel? I find it to be quite nice. I love the matte black look and while the build is very plastic, they look classy. The shape of the case, being wider rather than taller, I find to be a benefit.I would like to mention the way they sit in the case, which is a bit strange. It can be a bit cumbersome, especially if you have thicker fingers. I’m able to easily remove them from the case, but my boyfriend had a bit of trouble. Also, when you pull them out, they are facing backwards, so to put them in your ear you either have to finagle them around or use both hands to really get one out of the case and in your ear. The ear tips run a bit large on these, as well, so they had a tendency to slowly push back out of my ears as I wore them and moved around, even while using the smallest rubber tip. I have little ear canals and this happens with all ear buds I’ve tried with the rubber tips, but my boyfriend had the same issue. Will that stop me from using them? Definitely not!

Pairing to a Windows laptop was similarly seamless, and being able to switch between the two devices was simple - a necessity for most work-from-home individuals. Most important to the Tune Flex product in particular, there are different types of ear tips which provide drastically different listening experiences: open ear tips and sealing tips. Be sure to download the JBL Headphones app to toggle between these audio settings when using different kinds. The open ear tips are on the product when the box is opened (they don't even appear to be removable unless viewed closely). These are best used to hear external sounds, and were dynamite while riding a bike, taking a walk, or doing chores while on the phone. The other tips are sealing which deliver a significant boost in base and sound quality. In addition to the sound quality, the battery (8hrs unit + 24hrs case) lived up to expectations and didn't need to be charged once during a full weekend of hiking. Charge time was relatively quick to both the earbuds via case and to the case with the included USB-C cable. These were comfortable in a variety of uses, and truly were able to be "forgotten" in the ears for long periods of time, unlike many other earbuds which can cause soreness or a dull ache after long periods of wear.Overall, the Tune Flex buds did a fantastic job balancing everyday features at a competitive price point, all while delivering the quality JBL sound - would highly recommend.

The sound quality deteriorated so quickly
27 April 2023

I bought this last year, and was excited to get some earphones that block out sound. They look cute & the case is pretty. They don’t block out sound so i figured it’s better for my safety. While on the move, specifically on public transport that’s going anything faster than slow, the earphones actually jump and skip like the cheap old school earphones from a decade ago. I put up with this and mostly used them while cleaning or walking, but now the sound in the right ear has all but gone. So these just really aren’t up to the job of providing the user with any sort of decent music listening experience in the long term. What’s worse is when you try and find assistance online to try and solve the sound issue, all the companies suggest the user should clean their ears ... MoreI bought this last year, and was excited to get some earphones that block out sound. So these just really aren’t up to the job of providing the user with any sort of decent music listening experience in the long term. What’s worse is when you try and find assistance online to try and solve the sound issue, all the companies suggest the user should clean their ears or the buds or that their ears are a strange shape. Rather than the countless users reporting the same issue being proof that their is in fact a product issue with the dominant ear piece losing sound. I don’t know if i just received a bad pair, and that others have been able to enjoy using the earphones, I’ve found the only positive in terms of how they operate as a product is that they charge relatively quickly and connect almost instantly to my Iphone.

These Buds Will Be Your Best Bud
12 May 2023

The JBL Tune 130NC Series are by far one of the best pairs of wireless headphones I have owned in a long time. The charging case is sleek and completely unique from the standard Bluetooth bud case shape, same for the buds themselves. The battery life is phenomenal for both the buds and the case, I only have to charge my case about once or twice a week. I'd say more often twice a week., Keep in mind I always have at least a single bud inI mean that on a literal level. If I'm awake, music is on. I'm a person that goes through multiple sets of headphones every 3 months or so. I lose a lot of things. So, I find it extremely helpful and just downright awesome that the 130NC series has a downloadable app, inside that app if you press a button the headphones make a high ... MoreThe JBL Tune 130NC Series are by far one of the best pairs of wireless headphones I have owned in a long time. I'm a person that goes through multiple sets of headphones every 3 months or so. I lose a lot of things. So, I find it extremely helpful and just downright awesome that the 130NC series has a downloadable app, inside that app if you press a button the headphones make a high pitched screeching beep so that you can locate them. That's why this is one of the pairs of headphones I've held onto the longest. The downloadable app comes with a lot more settings as well. One of the settings that blows the competition out of the water is how uou can switch your headphones from ambient aware to noise cancelling, then from noise cancellation to something called talk thru mode so you can have a conversation whilst still bumping your tunes. There are other brands that have attempted to duplicate this, but I have not utilized a pair of headphones to this day that have more functionality to these specific settings than a pair of JBLs. Now, let's move onto the immediately noticable and most apparent functionality of the JBL app; the EQ. JBL's EQ customization is top notch. The EQ has various pre-set options that you can put it on as well as a customizable EQ setting. If you purchase these headphones, you should try them in their standard out of the package mode before downloading the app and setting up your preferred EQ options. You'll notice that a pair of JBL headphones on their own without any sort of EQ already sound absolutely gorgeous. The bass is bumpin', the treble is clear and crisp. The EQ generously provided by the JBL app just gives most modern JBL headphones that extra edge to blow away the competition, who all have played follow the leader and made their own attempts. Unfortunately, they've all fallen behind the innovation of JBL. I've only noticed three things that bothered me when using these phenomenal buds. The first thing that I had an issue with was the inability to change the EQ settings when only using a single bud, to utilize the EQ you are required to have both buds out of the case and hooked up to your Bluetooth. Sometimes this can be inconvenient when attempting to quickly go from noise cancellation to talk thru mode, because JBLs are pretty loud even with the volume turned down, so I still have trouble hearing with even a single headphone in. The second issue I found with the headphones is the inability to have them make their beeping locator sound if they aren't connected to your phone in that moment. I don't know about y'all, but I am notorious about not putting my buds in the case. Occasionally, this causes the buds to auto power off and I forget where I put them...This leads to a 30 minute session of tracking down an object the size of a dime. That entire time I'm questioning how one would make them traceable with them powered off. Finally, sometimes the JBL app has a slight lag to it. This leads to restarting the application a few times. Other than these 3 issues, which to many of you may not be an issue at all, these are well worth the $50 I spent on them and I can assure they will be for you as well. I've bought more expensive headphones that don't compare to these.

Waste of $100, buyer beware
4 August 2022

In all honesty, despite decent sound quality when you finally manage to connect these, these are on par with any other $5 Bluetooth headphones from the dollar store. Its should be illegal to sell these for $100 let alone advertise all the bogus features it has like "noise cancelation" which is doesn't actually have. The amount of problems these things have for the price tag is ridiculous. Despite no damage or misuse, one earpod will always disconnect or refuse to pair, or somehow pair as a separate device seperate from the other earpod (how is that even a thing), headphones always making random annoying noises every few minutes while in use despite full battery, audio randomly cuts off all the time and resumes, charging these things can be a nightmare with the cheap ... MoreIn all honesty, despite decent sound quality when you finally manage to connect these, these are on par with any other $5 Bluetooth headphones from the dollar store. Despite no damage or misuse, one earpod will always disconnect or refuse to pair, or somehow pair as a separate device seperate from the other earpod (how is that even a thing), headphones always making random annoying noises every few minutes while in use despite full battery, audio randomly cuts off all the time and resumes, charging these things can be a nightmare with the cheap USB port on the case which doesn't grab the charger at all, you literally have to rest the case against something at an angle while its plugged in or the charger will easily fall out of the charging port. On top of this, most of time it will charge for only like 30 seconds when plugged in then stop charging unless you unplug it and plug it back in (really like how?) Oh and the most annoying thing, anytime you plug these these things in to charge, you literally have to jump start the headphones to get them to turn on again. By this, I mean that anytime you plug them in to charge, you cannot reconnect to them via Bluetooth unless the USB charger is plugged in while you're pairing them despite them having full charge already. If you charge them, take the charger out, then try to pair, the headphones will not even turn on when you open the case unless the charger is plugged in, even if you clearly just charged it to 100%. These things legitimately have a mind and personality of their own. Somedays they can be semi-normal, other days they will cycle through every problem i just mentioned. Yes, this happened all straight out of the box. JBL, your company should be ashamed to be selling such garbage, ill never buy a product from this mediocre company again. I knew I should've taken the same amount of money and just bought apple earpods instead which would have actually worked like regular Bluetooth headphones and lasted years, unlike this garbage. These things are good for if you feel like solving a puzzle everytime you want to listen to music, bc thats what these will feel like. Funniest part is everything I said has been said by others in reviews prior to me buying these. I wish I read reviews on these before buying. How these have over two stars for reviews is proof that these childish companies fake their reviews instead of making solid products. Big L, on this product and your company image JBL, ill personally never waste a single calorie of energy even making eye contact with a jbl product ever again. As soon as I buy actual functioning Bluetooth headphones I'm going to stomp on these until I feel like I got a $100 workout from a personal fitness trainer so I can atleast feel like I got some moneys worth out of it.
