Scepter has always had a reputation of making great plastic gas cans and in fact, until recently I was still using one of the J105's I'd bought in 1977!! That said, I purchased some of the new loop handle carb compliant $9.99 Scepter 20 liter cans that come with the self venting spout and have no separate vent. What a pain in the rear! They are hard to fill because the gas wants to spray back on you as the air is forced out and then the plastic itself is very thin and light. They squish and balloon with the temperature changes and scare me! On the other hand, these military style Scepter cans with the rear vent are easy to fill and still are made of much heavier plastic so they feel strong and rigid which also means they don't deform as much as the flimsy ones. ... MoreScepter has always had a reputation of making great plastic gas cans and in fact, until recently I was still using one of the J105's I'd bought in 1977!! It would be nice if they made a 10 liter heavy duty mini rear vented military style!!!!

Bought this to mix and fill fuel for my boat. Certainly is fast to empty but for me this is too fast as I put it through a funnel and so had to manually control the rate of flow and couldn't go full tilt on it.The nozzle being stored internal is both an advantage in that it keeps it clean and you don't lose it but also a disadvantage in that you get fuel on your hands when taking it out. The nozzle must have the breather up as marked on it otherwise it will leak when using it.It seals ok, good locking mechanism but need to tighten past when it engages to ensure no spills. I've used it twice upright on sealed roads ~5 min drive and only had it leak a little on the first because it wasn't on tight enough. Second time seemed fine.Overall does what I need it to ... MoreBought this to mix and fill fuel for my boat. It’s a good quality gas can except it’s quite hard to fill my generator. The yellow nozzle has to be bent to get it into the hole which stops the flow of gas… would be easier if gas tank hole not on the top if generator also though. It’s a bit awkward, especially if full. The yellow nozzle on BBC all the gas cans is too short and not flexible enough in my opinion

You can't really beat it for the cost. I usually prefer metal cans but they tend to rust. This is a very sturdy well built 5+ Gallon/20 Liter Jerry style gasoline container. It's made of plastics of some kind but will not easily rupture. I just received it and filled it with no problems. Used it to fill the generator just in case so worse stuff happens due to people's fear. Have since refilled and stored it safely. It didn't leak or release fumes during transport which was impressive.
I purchased two of these gas cans to store extra fuel for use in the lawnmower, etc. and to top up a vehicle in case I'm in a hurry and running low on gas. I love that they finally brought back the small air vent. Makes it so much easier and faster to use. The plastic quality on these particular cans does seem to be really good as well. I did have another brand of gas can that recently cracked and had to be thrown out. The plastic on it just didn't seem as durable.
Its a gas can and does what it should. A little awkward to use as it is so tall and harder to use when full over a sled for example. Both a side and top handle would make this much better,
My order from HardwareAnd Tool was fantastic. The order process was simple and quick. The product I ordered was a plastic Jerry Gas Can. I needed a thin gas container for a small compartment on my pontoon boat and this can fit perfect. It is a quality product. I was very pleased with the whole process. Two thumbs up from me!
Filled it and then discovered the vent caps didn't work. What I mean by this is that it wouldn't tighten. Has to transfer gas to another container. Will be returning it on my next trip to Grand Falls.
You may be wondering how something so basic as a gerry can could get poor reviews. Well, you're right, the can itself is fine! It's pretty hard to mess up.The problem lies in the design of the spout and cap (spout is available separately PN 28-3060-4). Because the spout is the only part with a sealing ring, you must have it installed in order to have any sort of seal. The spout does NOT have a screw-on cap, so to close the can you have to insert the spout backwards inside the can, place a gimmicky stopper over it, and then tighten the cap. To dispense fuel, you undo the cap, remove the stopper, turn the spout around, and pour it. In practical terms this means that the spout is dripping fuel EVERYWHERE (it's quite a mess), and then when you're done you have to ... MoreYou may be wondering how something so basic as a gerry can could get poor reviews. To dispense fuel, you undo the cap, remove the stopper, turn the spout around, and pour it. In practical terms this means that the spout is dripping fuel EVERYWHERE (it's quite a mess), and then when you're done you have to stick this absolutely filthy spout back INSIDE your fuel that you just got covered in sand and dirt. Not good! Additionally the spout is extremely rigid so it is impossible to bend to get it in most vehicle fuel necks (partially the material's fault, partially the odd shape of the thing). My first few attempts spilled quite a bit. Really disappointing considering the now discontinued Wedco system (PN 02-8306-4) is very simple and easy to keep fuel clean and not spill a single drop. I have a spare of the old-style spouts, but of course, Wedco accessories do not fit Scepter cans...It appears that Canadian Tire doesn't sell an actually useful flexible spout for these cans, so I'll be returning this product and looking for a used Wedco can on Kijiji or something.
They work, but if you insert the spout past the tip a few times, the ribbing on the spout starts the leak. Not a problem with a car, as the opening is too small, but on gens, ATVs, etc. it becomes an issue. I like to replace them with the Sceptor Eco Spout (CT# 028-3018-8) anyway, as the don't pour until you want them to, and work great on everything but automobiles, lol!
