Bought the Totem Max 60L at the end of Nov 2022 to replace an old plastic waste bin and to help free up space under the sink (where we were storing our recycling in a bag provided by the council). So far so good. It feels sturdy and the stone colour looks modern and blends in nicely against the white halls of the kitchen.Height – About right. Not too tall that it's imposing, not too small that it fills up quickly.Load – We're 2 people and tend to empty both bins every fortnight or so.Investment – Definitely. Waste is inevitable (at the moment) and this has helped us streamline and free up space. We were considering this bin for a while but waited until it was on sale; got it for £140 with £15 cashback. Very pleased with that. Also – We already had a Joseph Joseph ... MoreBought the Totem Max 60L at the end of Nov 2022 to replace an old plastic waste bin and to help free up space under the sink (where we were storing our recycling in a bag provided by the council). So far so good. This bin is brilliant when it is functional - it works perfectly for our family being able to separate our recycling and non-recycling. It's really neat and blends into the kitchen.HOWEVER, we are now on our 4th bin in ~2-3 years. It is always the lid opening mechanism that fails. Joseph Joseph offer a 10 year warranty on the product, so it is replaced but is a total faff having to arrange a replacement and then send back the old bin (too big for most the return options). I had hoped for better build quality considering the price. It's also extremely wasteful not to off just a replacement piece!

Pros:- Overall a great investment piece.- Perfect for my apartment taking up less space, looking neater than having a separate recycling bin.- Feels sturdy and the inner containers work well- Brings joy as the bin doesn't take weeks to fill up and stink!Cons:- Not sure the use of the food container in the main bin compartment, I've taken it out to use on the side but then swapped to the normal council one as I didn't like the triangle shape or loose (unhinged) lid. The videos of people using the bin show them taking it out and putting it on the side which I think is a tad unhygienic- Very minor but for an expensive bin, I would have liked the bins to line up perfectly, probably my neatness obsession kicking in rather than anything else.- Coating might be ... MorePros:- Overall a great investment piece.- Perfect for my apartment taking up less space, looking neater than having a separate recycling bin.- Feels sturdy and the inner containers work well- Brings joy as the bin doesn't take weeks to fill up and stink!Cons:- Not sure the use of the food container in the main bin compartment, I've taken it out to use on the side but then swapped to the normal council one as I didn't like the triangle shape or loose (unhinged) lid. Lid flings open when empty- Less nooks and crannies in the frame under the recycling box

Having wanted one of these for several years, I treated myself to a 70th birthday gift during Black Friday.I would say that on the whole it’s a ‘thumbs-up’ from me re: convenience and space-saving, but with 2 niggles:• The top compartment is fixed. The lower one is a ‘wheelie-bin’ which can be rolled out to fill or empty. My solid matt-tiled floor is level, but when I return the bin to its original position, I have to manipulate it back into the correct position, and then fiddle with it throughout the day because it’s always straying forward or sideways out of line with the upper compartment, making it look like a 2 drawer filing cabinet with one drawer that won’t close up properly. The lower one seems to stick out a fraction even when in the correct position - ... MoreHaving wanted one of these for several years, I treated myself to a 70th birthday gift during Black Friday.I would say that on the whole it’s a ‘thumbs-up’ from me re: convenience and space-saving, but with 2 niggles:• The top compartment is fixed. The lower one seems to stick out a fraction even when in the correct position - not quite in line with the top -see pics.• I wish it had come with a movable separator for at least one of the compartments to maintain separation of different materials, e.g. paper/ plastic. I am using an old plastic chopping board for the purpose, but it’s not quite wide enough to be totally effective.
I bought my bin from John Lewis just in case it developed the issues with the lid that others have mentioned. Part of me can't believe I spent so much on a bin, but I can tell you, having ME, this bin has really made a difference to me.- I no longer have to bend over and lift and hold the lids of my two separate bins, I can stand up straight while emptying food in. The lid stays up on its own. That's priceless for me. I just close the lid when I'm done.- The shape of the bin makes a real difference. My other bin was rectangular.... recycling wouldn't fit in and had to be squashed or ripped up. Everything fits in this bin.- With the filter, no more stink because I can't change the bin often, it's been full for a week and no bad smells.- so far no problems with ... MoreI bought my bin from John Lewis just in case it developed the issues with the lid that others have mentioned. For the price of this, I treat it like a queen and I'm very gentle when opening and closing. I actually love this bin so much, I wish I'd bought it sooner.- the only issue is that it doesn't really feel very robust. I pull out the bottom recycling unit and the whole bin moves. It's not very heavy.
I bought this bin to replace an existing Joseph Joseph Totem 58L Recycling bin purchased in 2016. I have to say - absolutely NOTHING wrong with the existing bin - looks as good as the day I bought it, but living in a small apartment I wanted to relocate the bin into an area of specific dimensions so the hunt for a smaller bin was on. I scoured every website I could think of and after lots of time with my tape measure conceded that Joseph Joseph had done it again and they had the right bin for me.This time I went with the colour stone so that it blends in nicely with the kitchen cupboards. I LOVE how they've managed to reduce the materials to make the bin; under the removable bin buckets there is clear space rather than unnecessary dividing material, similarly for the bottom part of the bin the wheeled outer forms part of the bin rather than the wheeled section slotting into an additional 'outer' bin. Even though the materials used to make the bin have reduced it's still superbly made and I'm sure will last many years to come - very happy with my purchase (and my parents are happy with their gift of my previous Joseph Joseph bin!).So despite this being my second Joseph Joseph bin purchase I stand by the title - these bins will last forever!
This was a second purchase of a JJ Totem bin. The price is crazy but I could not now live without the life enhancing design of this bin. No-one else puts 2 recycling bins and a food waste caddy in one neat stack. The design has changed a bit with the tower both bins previously lived in now replaced by a sort of stand. The lower bin is therefore not as enclosed as on the earlier model, but does slide out more freely. The lid is slightly convex plastic instead of flat stainless steel- maybe easier to keep clean, but the curve is inexplicable and not as good looking. The catch feels less robust than previously- so will jave to handle that carefully. The dividers that used to be provided are no longer supplied, but clip points under the rim of the bottom bin allow two ... MoreThis was a second purchase of a JJ Totem bin. I have been after one of these for a while, I was looking to buy the larger one but when this was 50% off I n a Black Friday deal it was a no brainier. Although a little smaller than my previous bins this is just the right size and easy to empty. I am using the top for general waste and the bottom for recycling. The bottom bin rolls out smoothly and the top one has a nice opening and closing mechanism with a filter in the top. I am not using the food waste small bin at present as I have a separate one I use. I like the way it takes up so little room compared to other split bins . Even full price I would say this is a good investment. Very happy with product
I purchased this bin, as I had, had enough of hanging several different bags on cupboard doors, due to having a small kitchen. One day searching the Internet for a bin, I came across this website, they had several bins to choose from but I purchased the Totem max 60L waste & recycling bin in stainless Steel. Its the best thing I've purchased in a while, its fantastic! Its features, all my waste & recycling in one unit modern looking. The price was a little high but I got it when they had a cash back promotion on. Which was also a bonus!I wish I had found this bin ages ago, its worth every penny. I'm really pleased with it ☺
Need to make space in your Kitchen, fed up with a waste bin and a recycling bin, then this is the answer.A quality made metal outer and heavy duty plastic inners. A slow open top for standard waste and odour neutralizer in the lid keeps those nasty smells at bay (will need replacing at periodic intervals). The recycling compartment at the bottom pulls out on slide out wheels, are smooth and noiseless. Capacity of the 60 litre is more than enough for most medium sized households. The painted finish is wipe clean and the grey colour I bought is very nice. This is a quality product and yes is expensive, but it certainly makes your kitchen look a lot more upmarket than any swing top, plastic bin or even other well known bin manufacturers
