My 90lbs rescue dog has a lot of anxiety, and has random bursts of anxious energy, running in circles, and pacing the room. Being able to chew on something, and tear it apart is very soothing for her. I figured that if I could give her that sensation of tearing things apart, without just constantly having to replace her toys, we could save some clean-up, some money, and give her the opportunity to puzzle-solve and have enrichment time as well. This ball is flexible enough to move and bend well, while also being durable enough to withstand a strong chewer. I like to push a small squeaky Kong ball inside for my golden retriever to try and get. They love it! Helps with boredom and brain play. Plus I like that they can still breathe instead of having a stuffed mouth. I watch others dogs so I’ve had different types of chewers here. Mine just plays with it. My daughters standard golden doodle actually chewed it apart to get to the hall then demolished the ball lol. My 20 lb golden doodle loves to shake it and I laugh because it’s bigger than her head hahaha

My Dalmatian LOVES Hol-ee Rollers. She has at least 4 of varying sizes. She particularly loves the jumbo size because we put smaller balls in it and she, then, rolls the ball around with the nose and paws, trying to get the small balls out. For the first 5 hours, this jumbo Hol-ee Roller was the biggest hit. Unfortunately, after only 5 hours, one of the rubber strands ripped. My girl, Sailor, doesn't even like to chew on these, so, we don't even know how it ripped. I am going to order another one to see if the same thing happens, again. Just because Sailor was having so much fun trying to get the balls out.

It's always a roll of the dice on what a pup will like and what he won't. These Hol-ee Rollers are available in numerous sizes. I have small dogs, so the very large sized ones are pretty much lost on them. I bought one of these mini ones a couple years ago, and he LOVED it. It has been his favorite toy for at least a couple of years. Not unexpectedly, it started falling apart after the many, many hours of play. So, I went to every local pet shop I could find in my area and no one carries them in this size anymore! So, I was thrilled to find them on Pet Mountain's site. I'm glad they're still available somewhere, because this has been by far one of my baby's favorite toys of all time.
Love that it is light weight & my terrier can toss it around & play with it indoors. It probably helps clean teeth although not the intention of the ball. I do have to watch my terrier playing with this toy as she gets her bottom jaw stuck through the larger holes. Often she can remove the ball herself & sometimes she comes to me for help (have to lift the ball up over the eye teeth to release her jaw. It's only a light balI so isn't doing any harm - just frustrating for her when she wants to play with it. I didn't realise how large some of the holes are. Not really a treat ball appropriate for a small dog though.
I only opened my delivery about 15 mins ago, and my dog has already started destroying this toy!My dog (a Maltese X Shih-tzu) really enjoys this toy, but it's not safe to let her keep it!Initially I was allowing her to have supervised play with it, but only a minute or two would pass before she was already chewing on the next fully torn off piece, and the pieces were tearing off faster and faster.I was considering getting the larger version, but I think it would be a similar problem, so unfortunately I won't be buying this again! If this came in a stronger and longer lasting material I would definitely but it again though, since she really did enjoy playing with it!
Not all dogs noses and mouth shapes are the same. Because of the shape and tilt of my English Bulldog's mouth and jaws I had to really look to find her a ball she could easily pick up in her mouth and hang onto. Someone bought her this ball in the large size ( 5.5") when I brought her home at 4 months and she has loved it ever since. Her jaw strength is impressive, she can clamp onto this ball so hard that I can lift her off the ground ( she weighs 31 lbs now, at 9.5 months) but this ball hasn't ripped at all. She grabs this ball and shakes her head from side to side so hard I have worried that she will cause a brain injury but her vets have assured me it is a bulldog thing and she won't hurt herself. My point is that this ball is very definitely sturdy enough to ... MoreNot all dogs noses and mouth shapes are the same. My point is that this ball is very definitely sturdy enough to withstand the teeth and antics of an English Bulldog. After reading some of these reviews I'm going to try wrapping treats in cloth and stuffing them inside the ball. Hands down her favorite ball. I wish it came in pink.
I put bits of roo jerky or cubes of beef lung or other biscuits into this, and my dog loves chew at the treat inside. My dog doesn't generally destroy toys, he enjoys the challenge. So his has lasted him quite some time. But when I ask him to 'go get the purple ball' he knows he's going to earn a treat from it. I pop it in the dishwasher occasionally to keep it clean. We also have the larger size one, and I'll get a larger treat like a pigs ear onto it. It keeps my dog occupied for ages! Highly recommend for dogs that enjoy the these kinds of puzzles. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for dogs who prefer to chew through toys to get to their reward.
Wish I had read other reviews. I bought this product to play fetch inside with our dog. In about 5 minutes of tossing and retrieving there were multiple tears and teeth holes. I had to stop playing when pieces started to break off in her mouth. This damage was simply from the dog chasing and picking it up, and chomping as she ran back to me, and light playful tugging. The dog was not left to chew on the toy, and in total it lasted maybe ten minutes. Our dog has never had a toy fall apart like this. Absolutely terrible quality and a waste of money. Unacceptable for an item listed as “durable”. Steer clear of this product unless you have a toothless dog…
These are my dogs favorite toy & I have purchased them for a few years now. My issue is relating to a tag that is now aafficed to the toy & I think it is an extreme safety hazard that you need to be aware of. There is a new tag on these items. Beware!!!! 2 of the tags are attached to the toy, tag holders looped through the holes in the toy which are easily removed. One tag "HACK YOUR HOL-EE is attached with a very short tag holder that actually goes through & punctures the rubber on the toy. Since it's so small, most people will simply cut the tag off on the outside but PLEASE notice that the tag holder, a T if you will, is still present on the inside of the ball. Mine are extra small & it took considerable effort & tweezers to reach inside the ball to remove this. ... MoreThese are my dogs favorite toy & I have purchased them for a few years now. Mine are extra small & it took considerable effort & tweezers to reach inside the ball to remove this. Since dogs fetch & run about with the balls in their mouth, breathing strongly, I can see how easily a dog could aspirate this piece of the tag holder and get it lodged in the esophagus or lung. I really think this is a serious issue & the manufacturer needs to fix this problem before one of our dogs falls victim.
