K&F Concept ND2-ND400 Blue Multi-Coated Variable ND Filter 67mm, 1 8.6 Stops
Variable Neutral Density Filter, Reduce Exposure by 1 to 8.6 Stops, Darkens Entire Image, Greater Control over Exposure Settings, Allows Wider Aperture, Slim Design, Multi-Coated. This ND2-ND400 Blue Multi-Coated Variable ND Filter from K&F Concept is a 67mm variable neutral density filter providing an adjustable light reduction of 1 to 8.6 stops. It darkens the entire image evenly allowing a photograph to be made with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing the exposure time or increasing the aperture it is possible to control the depth of field and blur movement easily creating a dynamic look for streams waterfalls landscapes and more. This multi-coated variable neutral density filter does not affect the coloration of the image. The filter's slim design reduces possible vignetting on wide-angle lenses.

Many have written about this and other similar variable ND filters. This one, like many others, suffers from vignetting and the dark cross, but only if used at its extremes. Unfortunately, I could not use the maximum ND value without first vignetting and second the dreaded cross. But, for my usage, the in-between values are ok and do not exhibit visual problems. By far, the worst problem is that I cannot fit my 72mm lens cap and neither the lens hood. If I could, I would prefer fixed ND filters but for run and shoot videos, a variable ND filter is great.

New to photography, and wanted to try out a ND filter. This was a good way to see if I could benefit from one without committing too much money. The filter feels solid and has smooth rotation. My only gripe is that the lens cap can't be used. Now using a lens hood and just being extra careful to avoid scratching. Good deal!

I wanted a decent variable ND filter that wouldn't break the bank. I primarily use this filter for motion blur in long exposure images as well as portraits in sunny conditions using OCF with low aperture settings. I am quite happy with the results.

First the good - the color is even across the lens, which I'd expected having used the somewhat more expensive and higher quality Nano-X.In general, the X pattern is less noticeable than other VNDs EXCEPT in cases where polarization kicks in and the X jumps out aggressively. This is mitigated by sticking to no more than the third dot from the end (ya, the markings could be better) which should, honestly, be the last point the filter works at reasonably.Which brings me to the second point - no hard stops on the filter. The Nano-X does have hard stops and so I expected the same - my bad. Without a decent monitor or in bright light (when you would use the filter) it can be hard to see the X pattern showing up, so just be aware of where you're at.
I wanted to try taking long exposures during daytime and bright light conditions, so this filter is a good investment. Comes with a nice case to hold it. It takes a little practice to get a sense of what the right level of filtering is depending on what you're trying to shoot. One thing I've noticed it that the filter rotates 360 degrees and not just within the range denoted on its side, so be careful of that when using it.
This variable neutral density filter is great for allowing a slower shutter speed when filming outdoor scenes. I can set the aperture, then dial in the amount of density I need to accomplish the shot I am after and I can even adjust the speed and the density to get is just right. This filter makes many of my photos even better.
The filter works great, but there is an issue that is somewhat annoying. The filter fits on my lens, but the lens cap doesn't fit on the filter. If I want to use the filter I have to screw it on and off in order to get the lens cap back on. Not exactly efficient, but the filter does what it is supposed to otherwise.
I didn't notice any x pattern except at the very dark end. There is a blue...flare is being generous. It's not of a pin point dot when there's direct light. I can work with it for stills, but it's something to be aware of when filming. It can be very distracting. Great price though.
This might not be a true 5-star filter (compared to the optical quality of much more expensive top-rated filters) but it's certainly good enough for someone like me on a small budget. If I could, I'd ding half a star off because the filter freely rotates 360 degrees instead of being constrained between the minimum and maximum densities.I could not tell the difference between the Z5 NEF files shot with and without it on my zoom lenses (24-50 & ancient 80-200). At this price, I'm tempted to spring for a couple more with different filter sizes for my primes.
I was pleasantly surprised - I got this filter to try out for my Fujifilm cameras to shoot videos. I saw that quite a few videographers use Variable ND filters to change the exposure smoothly, and this filter totally does what it's supposed to be.Is it made in China? Yes. However there are many Chinese products nowadays that have good qualities too. For this price I'll definitely give 5 out of 5 for this product.
