Im not going to repeat everything others have said about the Karcher FC5. It is a generally excellent product that will leave your hard flooring clean. However, there are a few things that I feel it is important for potential buyers to be aware of. These dont change the fact I would purchase the product again, or that I think it is probably the best floorcleaner out there, but they are small points that might be big factors for some buyers.Firstly, Im at a loss as to why Karcher have given the cleaner only a 5m power cord. It should be at least 6, more like 7 metres in length. Once you start cleaning, navigating around items, you find that youre going to be swapping power sockets a little too often or using an extension lead all the time.Secondly, the clean water ... MoreIm not going to repeat everything others have said about the Karcher FC5. It should be at least 6, more like 7 metres in length. Once you start cleaning, navigating around items, you find that youre going to be swapping power sockets a little too often or using an extension lead all the time.Secondly, the clean water container is too small. I believe it should be at least 50 larger in size. Before you know it, youre refilling it and rather bizarrely the dirty water container is significantly larger.I think the water suction sucking the water off the rollers could be slightly stronger. It is good, but please dont think that the FC5 will leave your floors completely dry it doesnt and theyll need 5 minutes or so to dry after use. I think a marginally better level of suction could improve this. The rollers require cleaning after each use and youll be amazed how much dirt they pick up. However, I would strongly recommend that you buy at least one spare set of rollers. I dont think theyll last very long and overwashing can lead to the microfibres of them failing to perform as theyre intended to.The instructions are awful. Karcher need to develop a better manualquickstart leaflet. Theyre possibly the worst of any major product Ive bought over the last year. The Karcher cleaning fluid is very good. We were surprised at just how streakfree it left the floors porcelain tiles and hardwood flooring. Weve bought some to add to the tiny bottle of fluid they provide with the FC5, but the good news is that very little is required per refill of cleanwater. Finally, the angle at which the cleaner operates could be improved on. If you try pushing it underneath something such as a sofa, youll find it wont go very far because the way in which it sucks water from the rollers means that it has a limited angle of play. If you think youll be able to use it in almost flattofloor style, think again. You wont get it to work at anything like that angle. This all sounds rather negative, doesnt itIt isnt. It is a superb floorcleaner that has massively sped up our task in a large house.

Have had two karcher k5 floor cleaners. The first one broke and was repaired under warranty after less than 20 uses. The repaired machine broke again and karcher refused to repair under warranty again and wanted to charge. Ended up buying a 2nd machine and have had same issues. Sent back for full refund as less than 12months old. Poor design, cheap materials, known issues that karcher are aware of and fail to admit. Lots of customers reporting the same issues online. Youtube and online reviews full of un happy customers.

My review of Karcher floor cleaner: 1. Does not clean the floor well, did a paper towel test, it was still dirty. It smudges all the dirt back onto the floor. Also, the middle gap between roller still leaves lot of stuff behind. 2. Leaves floor very wet. 3. Very poor value for money, it should be more than dirt smudging mop back to the floor. My review of 60-day money back guarantee on one of their new floor cleaner, the terms and conditions were never mentioned on retailers website. Here are couple of terms and conditions: 1. If you use it for couple of days and still not satisfied company says keep using it for 30days because that is the WAITING PERIOD to get your money back. Great whilst it worked which wasn't for long

Was returned to karcher shortly after purchase as the dirty water kept leaking back on to floor which made the whole idea of cleaning floor redundant. Came back after a few weeks. Was better than it was but not as good as when first purchased. Had to keep pushing suction pipes back in to place or leaking dirty water. Since then had rollers jamming quite often with nothing blocking them but how much they fluffed up. Made them tight in head. Probably only used 50 times due to hassle of use. Today we tried again. Rollers would not turn. Took rollers off. Spigots would not turn. Seemed the transmission as they call it jammed solid. Looked for ideas on google search and came across a video done by some guy who had same fault as me and he proved it was meant to fail. Looked for ideas on google search and came across a video done by some guy who had same fault as me and he proved it was meant to fail. The bearings are not protected from water ingress. Nor is the clutch that is supposed to slip if a jam occurs. Eventually the clutch seizes (so no protection if jams etc) and the metal drive on the end of motor spindle eats the teeth on the plastic drive wheel of the rollers rendering the whole machine as only bin worthy. Sorry karcher. Have lots of other tools from you but this one is a massive FAIL!!!

Bought one of these on Black Friday 2020 after seeing many ads that made using it look simple, Wrong. You have to lift it to put the microfiber cleaning rollers on and it's heavy with one hand. Unless you put it in it's stand, and lean it on something else, if it moves a little the rollers try and remove themselves, you then have to lift it again with one hand and try to refit the roller with the other. I'm a fit 70 year old and find that very difficult. There is very very little suction, I guess the floor would dry in two minutes if you open all doors and windows, it's no faster drying than using a good old fashioned string mop. Edge to edge cleaning, ok on straight runs it will do the job, it will Not go into corners like my old string mop. This is very good, but it could use a few improvementsThe wet rollers clean well but if your dog with muddy paws leaves a trail that you allow to dry in then you may spend a little longer on cleaning than you thought. The cleaner itself actually moves forward due to the actions of the rollers so you only need to really apply effort on the pull back stroke. The clean water tank is only 400ml yet the dirty water tank looks to hold about a litre. Im assuming its like this for floor spills. Seems to be a waste though. The 400ml clean water tank looks like it can clean most average sized houses downstairs. Krcher FC5 forget it

You will regret buying one of these. Ive opened and five Krcher FC5 floor cleaners and all had the same problem with rollers pulsing not turning when using. The bearings rust up as the seals / parts used are not waterproof and are cheap, you can get good waterproof bearings and belt around 15 to replace, but it doesnt stop there. Youll probably need a drive unit /slip clutch which wears out even under normal use. Ive not found where you can buy them from, the whole head unit is available for around 100.and unless KARCHER as changed the design will do the same again The one I have Ive modified the the drive unit but when not if it stops working we go in the bin . Not fit for purpose

Decided to purchase this product based on popularity of Karcher products and some review site rating the FC5 as the best floor cleaner. What a mistake and waste of money! Other customer reviews have identified the very same problems we have experienced...... Doesn't like uneven tiled surfaces; water feed pipe easily gets blocked; isn't very effective at cleaning tiles (a bucket and mop are better!) We've decided to drop it off at the local council tip. Worst of all is that this product was NOT cheap! And I fail to understand how some review sites think this is the best floor cleaner available! Don't buy this product!!!!

Not good after 1 year
28 March 2021

I purchased one some time ago. At the beginning, as long as you vacuumed first, it did a reasonable job on a lightly soiled floor, even if it was fiddly to dismantle & clean out after each use. However, within 6 months, it was struggling to clean anything and has progressively got worse. I no longer have the patience to use it regularly, preferring the old fashioned mop & bucket for speed and convenience. The last 2 attempts are typical - 1. Vacuum the floor 2. Setup and start the FC5. Manage to clean an area approx 2sqm. Rollers stop rotating & machine is struggling. 3. Remove rollers, wash them & put back on the machine. 4. Start again, Rollers refuse to move. You are effectively relying on the moisture of the newly washed rollers dragging across the floor rather than rotating to clean the area. 5. Dismantle head, removing the rollers, cover & suction tubes. Wash everything under the tap, making sure there is no blockages - there are not. 6. Try again. Rollers start moving for approx 30 seconds then stop again. 7. Dismantle again & wash everything out AGAIN. There is a small (less than 3mm) piece of mud/hair in the head & everything else is clear, 8. Put the machine away. Total time taken so far - 50 minutes to clean less than 1/4 of living area 9. Get mop out & finish off the rest of the room in less than 5 minutes. It might take longer to dry, but far easier than trying to get the FC5 to actually clean a lightly soiled floor.

deteriorates with age- do not purchase
22 November 2022

I purchased this appliance some years ago. Initially it worked reasonably well, but deteriorates with age to the point of being unuseable. Specifically: - flexible blades which wipe the rollers to remove picked up debris wear down to stumps with use and are not replaceable - the water feed is very narrow bore and has become blocked - its impossible to even locate the blockage, let alone clear it - I have replaced the only replaceable component (the yellow head cover) - to no effect whatever. It is going to the municipal tip at the next opportunity.
