Kenwood Continuous Slicer Grater Attachment AT340

I have never in my 30 years of owning a Kenwood Mixer purchased this or any other additional attachments beside a meat attachment. I got this as part of the promotion Kenwood were running where you buy a kenwood before December and select free attachment.I can say this item is better than the moulinex and nut grinders which I have and are now in storage. I have many handheld alternates which I am so glad I can retire them until the next 30 years dont want to jinx my KenwoodWouldnt buy if I had to pay for them because I already have handheld alternatives.Pros easier,faster,easier to clean,more time to do other things. Check on Amazon too it might allow you to select the promotional item instead of waiting for Kenwood to approve and send within 28 days.Update 02022017 broker on first useThe number 2 disk doesnt click in and stays open which causes carrots to fly out from the back however the number 6 disk didnt have any issues. Ive had to arrange a replacement through amazon. Not a good start to be honest.

I really like this gadget. The blades come in two small boxes I recommend you keep these to store the blades. All except the chopperjuillenne blade are good just cant see the point of that one as the juillenne carrots come out bendy think youre better off with a mandolin for that.Like other reviewers I at first had food spitting everywhere and with varying results, but with a bit of experimentation I found the right speed pressure combination for good results with different foods.Some have said its a bit of a faff to clean I dont think its any worse than most food processors Ive had in the past.Only problem is that the main body is an awkward shape which makes it hard to stackstore. Did I need this No. Does it make life much easier YesI do find the Kenwood chef attachments really expensive overall but I guess theyve got a reputation for qualityPersonally for me the main benefit of this is for making potato rosti. Ive tried numerous ways of shredding potato. Using a mandolin is dangerous and quite wasteful, chopping by hand is hard as I cant shop that precisely. A spiraliser then chopping after has been my preferred method it is still a bit wasteful. The Kenwood attachment is great though, loads of shredded potato in seconds. A little wastage but just use the leftovers for something else or compost it. Other attachments Ive used are the cubed and the chips. Best purchase ever!

I'm really happy about buying this attachment. I process large quantities of vegetables and the little bowl of the fitted processor was exhausting. 6 carrots and you had to empty it out. I usually do around 10kg of carrots at a time, so imagine all the time wasted on emptying the bowl!This clever little processor does it straight into any sized container, with extreme bulk, we have even used garbage bags to catch it!PERFECT for the bigger home or even commercial kitchen. This baby really does work non-stop and saves hours! A wonderful investment!

Continuous flow Slicer/Grater is wonderful

Makes short work of slicing & grating. Copes with finely grating rock hard Parmesan without showing any effort. Good variety of discs for thickness. Ie Coleslaw for 12 in the blink of an eye. Makes it easy to cater for large numbers & it works fast. A fabulous addition to my kitchen.

Disappointed

I purchased the AT340 for an already owned Kenwood Major, as my food processer had seen better days! It cost £141.99 for 2 functions, slicing and shredding, but I had planned to use it for batch preperation. (I would not recommend this machine for small quantities) Espares were quick to dispatch and it came well packed! I have had it a while to get used to, and thereby give an accurate comment. The attachment is a serious peice of kit, but lets itself down in that processed food stays in the blade chamber, so you have the ordeal of dismantleing it, to empty! Also maybe I am doing something wrong, but a lot of food doesnt land in a standard bowl (not provided) It goes all over the worktop! I wish I had replaced the more versatile food processor now!

I absolutely love this.

This attachment amazingly and seamlessly fitted onto my 15-year-old Kenwood Chef.It is super-efficient and the variety of blades cater for all options. It is perfect to take the chore out of mass grating and slicing and is quick and easy to assemble and clean.The added bonus is that unlike my food processor I do not need to keep emptying the bowl as you can just slip another one underneath or even grate straight into a plastic bag ready for freezing.Shredding salads and stir fries are an easy option rather than the laborious chore of all that grating.

Kenwood High Speed Slicer/Shredder

Have had this for several months now. It works well, when I can get the attachment fixed right This attachment is such a pain to fix. Its complicated and find that most times the attachments that come with it are fiddly and rarely ever fit right. When they do fit, its a fluke and rarely am I able to get it right a second time. Have watched countless videos on how to do with but still find it quite hard to do. Because of this food being processed gets stucktrapped all over the blades with overall poor results. However, when things fit properly, its a joy to use. Wish Kenwood made things easier as far as this attachment is concerned. Would hesitate to recommend this product.

My expectation with Kenwood products is absolute excellence, but this falls a little bit below my expectation. The pros are that it works very well, and is great for grinding things quickly and is easy to take apart to clean.It does however have the following flaws which left me with the impression that appearance was of higher value than functionality:1. The design of the grating mechanism allows food to be caught in the cover of the grater beside where the food comes in as there is a gap between the plastic of the entry and the outer side that narrows and then closes, catching food that then needs to be scraped out and grated, which is an unnecessary nuisance. This space would have been simple to fill in.2. Similarly the plastic is a bit thinner than ideal. I used the machine to grate coconut (which is quite hard, to be fair) but the plastic actually broke where the food is brought into the grater. It would be fairly straightforward to make this part stronger.3. The tube that assists the food dropping into the bowl is a great idea, but as shown in the picture it ends quite far above most bowl sizes. This means that when grating chocolate, for example, you either have to hold the bowl up or put it on something else so that the chocolate doesn't go everywhere. If it came with a second tube to slot into the first, the grater would become much easier to use.In conclusion, this is useful because it allows me to use my Kenwood Chef to grate whatever I like, but it falls below the expectation set by the very high quality of the kenwood food processor it attaches to.
