Kerastase Chroma Absolu Filler Masque 200ml

I am a Oribe product snob! I was asking my hairdresser about the new Alchemy product by Oribe to address breaking hair. She gave me a sample of the product (see other review) but suggested I try this masque. I bought it - CRAZY fast shipping by the company - and after one use I thought, hmm, hair seems softer/stronger. After two uses - I was in love and can't wait to use It again. I am now buying more and more Kerastase products to rotate with my Oribe lines. They have great coupon codes online directly AND they have got to be one of the fastest shipping companies I have found recently. My super fine, straight hair is soft, pliable and not weighed down - I wash my hair every other to every third day and only put a masque on once a week. Meh

I have thick, wavy/curly, DRY, frizz prone hair and this line does nothing for it. I do dye my hair, but only with semi-permanent kinds like manic panic (no bleach/developer, or heat styling), so I guess it's not really damaged so much as just naturally dry and frizzy. Nonetheless, I was excited to try this mask (along with the gloss) because who doesn't want shinier, smoother hair or to protect their color? (Also, I'm 47 and have my fair share of wiry, hard-to-tame greys.) Unfortunately, it did not leave my hair feeling hydrated or soft, nor looking particularly smooth or shiny, but rather dry and crunchy. I also don't like the strong lingering scent, which reminds of how your hair smells after using a drugstore home coloring kit.

Miracle for my hair

First try w/ this masque & I had the best hair day sans a stylist. Combined w/ B&B Ultra Rich Leave in product, barely needed to use heat appliances or a brush to tame my naturally fine ( but a lot of strands = thick) long, wavy/curly/frizzy balayage highlighted hair. The masque was far superior to, ie Oribe Gold Lust, Olaplex 8, Amika Soul food / Kure, Living Proof Zero Frizz, EvolveH, Moroccan Oil Hydrate & Protein masques for my hair type. I prefer this over Kerastase Discipline products, which are too heavy for my hair. I read a lot of reviews complaining about the scent, but IMO it is subtle & pleasant, barely noticeable when hair is dry. The scent is far less conspicuous than Amika or Moroccan Oil. Overall, I love the masque.

More like conditioner.

Really disappointed I was recommended this as better than my other kerestase ones and it isn’t like a mask even. It feels like a light conditioner on my hair. I wanted sulphur free but prefer other brands if I had to do sulphur free or go other kerestase masks for moisture. Really disappointing and was in two minds going back to store to tell them I wasted my money. It’s just sat in shower to use with another mask as this doesn’t do a thing for me alone. Would purchase the brand but not this product ever again.

My wallet hates it, but I love it.

I have been on a huge Chroma Absolu kick because I got a sample sachet of the green mask and I (controversial opinion) love the scent so much. I got a sample sachet of this with my last Kerastase order and was hoping not to love it because it’s soo expensive but, unfortunately, it’s amazing. I have a weird, crunchy, frizzy texture to my hair despite using Olaplex #2 almost every other shower and limited color treatment. This is the only product that has made my hair look and feel like real hair instead of faux fur that was accidentally put in the dryer. So my wallet might hate it, but I love it so I purchased the full size.

Not for very dry/dehydrated hair.

There is a Kerastase Rx for everyone but this formula was not for me. I am over 50 with hair that is dry from a botched bonding treatment and dry due to grey under my color. I found this formula to not be hydrating enough. I received this mask and the shampoo as a sample and am currently happy with the Kerastase products containing marula oil which is the magic ingredient which makes my needy hair soft, shiny, hydrated and bouncy. The scent of this color line is light and fresh but modern and I imagine younger men and women will really like it.

Outstanding conditioner for damaged, colored hair

Outstanding mask. I have coarse, thick, wavy, very dark (natural is Level 1 - black color) hair that has been lifted, bleached, highlighted -you name it- for the past 15+ years. My hair is very damaged. This mask restored shine, smoothness to my hair and made it more moisturized and lustrous. The scaliness of the hair was replaced with a silky feel. Very pleased with this mask. Outstanding product for restoring health of processed, damaged hair. I hope to re-purchase.

Shame about the scent

The positive: this mask, along with the shampoo, made my hair look better than it has in ages. It left it soft, silky, manageable, and with a lot of volume.The negative: the smell was unbearable. It gave me a horrible headache, and something in the product - either the shampoo or this - broke me out along my chin where my hair hits my face. Even after washing my hair the next day, the scent lingered.Unfortunately, I had to return this. I hated to, as my hair looked amazing, but ultimately, the scent was just to much.

Soft hair and great smell! What else do you want?

I must say I love the bottling of this new line of products. I think it's so cute! Of course that means nothing if it's not effective too. I give it 4 stars in terms of effectiveness. I used the mask after shampoo and conditioner and it left my hair so super soft and more manageable after being color treated a few day earlier. It also left my hair smoother with combining their other products use after I washed and dried it. I could feel the difference in how soft it was. Oh and the smell was soo good, just absolutely heavenly. I like it better than how similar masks leave my hair in order to condition it and soften it. This felt stronger and my hair needs a stronger product like this. This just left it super nice and tame and controlled frizz later. The smoothness you get with it is great and helped the blow drying and ironing process. I would buy it again and I recommend it to others to try especially with coarse hair like mine.

Softens without weighing my thick hair down.

I have used this in conjunction with black and purple shampoos to bring out the silver in my hair that I am letting grow out. (yay for ditching the dye!) Its a wonderful mask that softens without weighing my hair down. I have thick straight hair that has become drier as I've gotten older. The texture of my hair is changing and I love what this actually does for it.The scent is strong (but wow I love it). If you're not good w/ scents I would avoid. About to buy my 2nd jar - a little does go a long way - which is nice considering the price.
