I have had 2 of these glass mixer bowls for my artisan stand mixer. Both bowls I have had have broken soon after purchase. I used my bowls maybe once every week or two for light residential use. I made sure to hand wash only and to dry the bowl right away when I was done with it. Being they were glass, I was always extra cautious when using them. The first bowl got a hairline crack at the bottom by the gray ring and the second bowl chipped a decent chunk of glass out by the pour spout. I followed instructions for use. Pour spout and handle never touched pedestal and beater to bowl clearance was fine. Do not recommend and will not purchase one of these again.

I’ve had my Artisan mixer about 5 years and use several times a week. I’ve always hand washed the glass bowl and taken care with removing from the mixer base. My bowl cracked into 3 large pieces about 2 weeks ago and I had no idea it would be so difficult to replace the bowl. I did not save the gray ring on the bottom- no idea it was removable and as the bowl was broken it would have been impossible to try to unscrew safely. Now notice other reviewers asking about the gray ring. Is this included? My mixer is sitting idle until I can resolve! Review is for the glass bowl- mixer is great. If cracked bowl cannot be replaced with the same the mixer will have to be replaced. Model KSM155GBAZ

This Kichenaid 5 Quart Tilt-Head GlassBowl is the perfect addition for my Kitchenaid 4.5 Qt mixer. This came with a plastic snap on lid that is perfect for chilling dough in the refrigerator. It's made of thick heavy duty glass with a comfortable handle. The measurements on the side are easy to read. I'm finding I'm liking this glass bowl better then my stainless steel bowl as it is easier to add the proper amount of ingredients with the see through measurements. I'm also better able to make sure everything is mixed properly. It fits securely in place in my mixer without any movement. It's great that this is dishwasher safe for ease of cleaning. Having a second bowl for my mixer is going to be a game changer for my Christmas baking!!
This glass 5qt bowl is absolutely beautiful! It has such a nice weight and thickness to it…it’s really high quality glass that feels like it will last forever. The added measurements on the bowl make it easy to adjust and add ingredients while you’re baking and I love that you can see how well your ingredients are getting mixed right through the bowl. The lid fits nice and snug and makes it easy to let dough rise or rest in the bowl. I also really appreciate how convenient it is to clean since it’s dishwasher safe! It locks in perfectly into the base my Kitchenaid mixer and all of the attachment mixer heads (whisk, pastry, etc.) all fit inside the bowl for perfect mixing. It’s sturdy, well-made, and looks sleek and chic, too! I love it!!
This KitchenAid five quart glass mixing bowl is fantastic. It's large size is perfect for making just about anything.The bowl is not only dishwasher safe for easy cleaning but it is safe to use in the microwave and in the freezer, making it very versatile so I don't have to dirty up several bowls. It comes with a secure lid, and clearly marked measurements making it easy to read, even without my reading glasses!The pour spout makes it easy to pour ingredients exactly as intended and without spilling.This bowl makes my KitchenAid mixer so much simpler to use, and it is by far my favorite and most used accessory! I now can't imagine baking without it because its such a huge time saver!
I have a KitchenAid mixer and only 1 bowl to use with it. I have to always wash the bowl several times during baking or cooking. Because I only have one bowl to use it with. Takes longer to bake when I have only one bowl to work with.Therefore, when I had the opportunity to try out this bowl (with a spout) I was beyond excited. I love this bowl. Works great with my whisk attachment. Also is easy to clean, make sure you follow the 'care' instructions. Pour spout is perfect and so useful with batter! And it has a cover/lid. Cannot say enough good things about this product.
First of all, I have to say, everyone should have a second bowl, when you need to make two different things, for example a cake and frosting. I like that I don't have to wash a bowl right away to use. This bowl has some great features, like the measuring units on the outside of the bowl. That really comes in handy. I also like the lid that comes with it, as my original one does not have a lid. I like the idea of a glass bowl,and it fits my mixer, but doesn't have as tight of a fit as my stainless steel bowl. And for that reason, I deducted 1 star. It does thread in the stand, but it is a little loose. Other than that, definitely a nice addition to my kitchen aid mixer!!

Shortly after I received it, the glass ring on the bottom of the that you have to lock into place on the machine itself. This is metal and as one might guess twisting and turning this heavy duty glass bowl in a metal base likely would not last long. It did not! Only a few short weeks of using the bottom of the bowl chipped. Aside from being so disappointed it did not interfere with any function of the mixer so I decided I wouldn’t fuss over it. Well…. Well… it apparently loosened it enough for the attachment fell into the bowl right straight to the bottom while the mixer was running and broke a chunk from the bowl!I was livid… I was so upset!! This wasn’t the first time the attachment had come loose and fallen out, it had never done that while I was mixing something! Glass bowl broken, glass shattered and had to throw away my fresh made cannoli mix! Not designed well at all!! Of course, no warranty and it’s been more than 30 days, so not returns or exchanges.Do yourself a favor… don’t purchase this bowl or mixer that comes with it!!! Far too expensive to be designed this way.

It isn't shown or mentioned in the product description, but it has a threaded bottom that is meant to screw into a plastic ring adaptor which is meant to hold it snugly in the mixer. My bowl is apparently defective because no matter how carefully I try to screw the adaptor onto the bowl, or the bowl onto the adaptor, it very easily pops right out again, and thus it doesn't sit securely in the mixer. It's okay for mixing something easy like whipping cream but for anything at all heavy that might move the bowl, it's just not safe. I've successfully used it maybe twice. It's a shame as it's a big, useful bowl otherwise. heavy, but you'd expect that for glass. There's no way to know what bowls will fit properly if it doesn't say in the description if the adapter is needed or not.
