This processor is awesome. It attaches easily and works great. The feed is smaller than my freestanding processor. I have to cut larger potatoes in half but smaller ones fit fine. The only thing I don't like about this is that it's a weight on the end of my mixer and so pushing the feed down puts enough weight on it to tip the mixer if you aren't careful. I hold it by the shoot so I don't accidentally react and put my hand on the bottom, near the exit shoot, to catch it. It cuts potatoes like butter, you barely have to push on it. It's really nice. It's super easy to clean up and I love the holder for all of the blades. This is the first attachment I've purchased and I don't regret it. Just the cube cut is worth it. It will probably be the last attachment I buy just because of the stability issue but, if I was only going to choose one, this would have been it.

I was happy with my Food processor and loved to make salads quickly and with even cube shapes until yesterday it almost killed me. I was cutting vegetables for salad using the food processor, and already did all cucumbers and most of potatoes when all of a sudden the entire head of the processor began to rotate around its axis at crazy speed (I cut vegetables in mode 10, as the instruction says). The processor sawed off the protective bolt that held it in place and began to spin moving towards the exit. It was so scary, it could hit me in the head at any moment or crash my kitchen. I could not decrease the rotating speed as it was very dangerous to come close, but I was able to turn off the electrical outlet and it saved me. Overall I like this product. It has good versatility and can improve prep quality, presents, and efficiency. I think most of the components and blades are easy to clean but be prepared to keep track of multiple parts. Someone who struggles with mechanical aptitude may struggle with this product. There are different combinations of parts and blades to configure the specific type of cut/chop that you're trying to make. You'll likely need to plan out what you're working on so that the order of what's prepped in considered. For example, the dicer works great to get fruits or vegetables cut quickly into nice chunks. Depending on what your making you may need to do the fruit first or the onion first. Otherwise you'll have to take it all apart and clean everything in ... MoreOverall I like this product. It should be noted you'll still need to have a cutting board handy for most jobs as you'll need to cut everything down to size to fit into the feeding slot. While I don't find it to difficult to set up, I wouldn't plan on using it for a single onion or if I have two or three different items as the time and effort to put everything together to get started and then the necessary cleaning and possible changing of blades between specific food items isn't worth the effort. This product shines if your doing a big meal with a large amount of the same few items that need chopped, sliced, or diced.Overall a very good product with solid design and engineering. The complication of the Processor is a byproduct of it's functionality it's meant to deliver.

I received the food processor as a Christmas gift. It has been wonderful to use. I have used it on potatoes and onions, so far. I find I am looking for extra things to slice and dice for practice. It does have some waste issues with onions. Once the majority of the onion has made it through the processor, the remaining is trapped between the chute and the blade. It’s too small to plunge down and it will not proceed through the blade. You either slice it manually or toss it. Another is issue is cleaning the dicer cleaning plunger and dicer blade. I found parts of onions trapped between the cleaning plunger teeth and also the dicer blade. I had to get another brush to clean these 2 pieces before placing in the dishwasher. The 1st time was a pain, after that I know to ... MoreI received the food processor as a Christmas gift. It has been wonderful to use. I have used it on potatoes and onions, so far. We purchased the unit specifically for the "Commercial Style Dicing Kit" that was part of the food processor. The dicer worked amazingly well, for several uses. On a recent use, about 3 potatoes into a batch, there was a loud "snap" from the base unit and the dicer blade stopped turning, though it did "pulse" a bit. No amount of resetting restored operation. Lots of "ratcheting" sounds from the drive unit when the stand mixer is running.Removing all blades, with all safeties engaged, the center shaft will turn. However, add a blade and it will not move - something obviously broke in the drive unit.Unfortunately, we have had the unit for several years, though used it infrequently. We purchased it primarily to use for family gatherings when we were cooking for more than just ourselves. So despite the time since purchase the unit could easily be considered almost new. It worked well - until it didn't. Similar to many other reviews that have been posted. This is not the quality of product I expected from this company, especially given the multi-decade track record of satisfied use of their stand mixers and other prodcucts.
Love, love, love this. I grow a large vegetable garden. Some canning recipes require dicing veggies. This used to take hours. With the dicing accessory, it now takes seconds. The dicing is quick, perfect, and uniform. I save so much time now!The julienne disc worked great. The adjustable size slicing is very useful as some vegetables I want thicker than others.I seldom use the pusher as the machine immediately pulls the vegetable down without any assistance.I love to keep chopped ham in the freezer to use for recipes calling for it. Purchasing already cut ham bits is expensive. I buy a ham and dice myself which takes a long time. With this dicer attachment, it now takes seconds to dice,The possibilities are endless. I bought this for the dicing function. I wanted another company's product that had a dicing function but didn't want to spend the money on it. I came across this which would work with my mixer that I have had for over 20 years. I love this and use it all the time. I often make soup and freeze it for my future self in small portions. This attachment has super charged the time to make anything requiring diced food. I can have 3 from scratch soups simpering in no time. I have also been using it to dice and hide vegetables from some picky eaters. I have also used the shredding and slicing function but not nearly as much as the dicing blades. For the negatives and even giving it 5 stars there are a few minor things that I feel would upgrade this device. I wish the shoot was a little bigger. I would using the slicing function more if I could fit a whole cucumber or zucchini in the shoot. I wish the blades covered the center of the unit better. I often have food stuck in the groove where the drive shaft is and it's s little difficult to clean. Right now I use some food safe sanitizer and a pipe cleaner to get in there. If anyone has a better method let me know. I don't think the julienne function is that great, which is again probably mostly due to the size of the shoot.
Not commercial grade, I have bought two of these dicers in the last three years. It works excellent when it works. It is not designed for a person who does heavy canning and a lot of chopping. The first one I bought the gears stripped out, they’re plastic gears. The second one just simply locked up. we do a lot of canning and make a lot of salsa. It can not handle a lot of work for an extended period of time. For a simple homeowner who uses it two or three times a year, it would be excellent and save time. But if you’re doing heavy canning or have a small garden and want to process everything for canning this is not the equipment you want to buy. This is the first thing that I have ever bought from KitchenAid that I was disappointed in.
My attachment stopped working soon after receiving it. Worked great the first few times and then wouldn't spin anymore. I have another attachment that works fine so I know it's not the stand mixer. I contacted the company and they sent a replacement but that didn't work right out of the box and seemed even stiffer like it was a badly refurbished model they didn't even verify worked before sending out. Now after phone calls and FedEx visits i'm weeks into the process of waiting for yet another replacement which who knows may not even work.. very disappointed. Would really like a brand new one sent but then again it might just give out after a few weeks like the first. I thought this being such a big brand that the product would be more reliable, again disappointing..
Before I bought this I read all the reviews. Watched all the YouTube videos I could find. Everything was 50/50. Some people said they had trouble with it. But the videos made it look pretty easy. So I went in knowing to follow all the directions and to be careful. The first time I used it was great. The second time was disaster. I had everything attached properly but something jammed, it made a terrible noise and the attachment was spinning all around. Ruined my attachment and the machine. From the spinning the pin made a deep groove in the stem that goes into the machine . So beware. I have had a Kitchenaid for over 30 years so I know how to use attachments. But this one is not user friendly.
