Because of the aluminum construction, you can't put it in the dishwasher or even use warm water from the tap to clean it.This is an incredibly inconvenient fact for a tool that is used to processes raw meat. This KitchenAid grinder is nothing short of amazing. It effortlessly grinds and packs pretty much any meat you throw at it. It's easy to clean and attach. The directions were so simple to follow and for the first time ever I was able to make my own bread crumbs for our salad and homemade steak burgers! They tasted amazing and they were so easy to make. My husband loves that we can make deer sausage right at home in the kitchen then put it on the grill! You will absolutely love this food grinder. I cannot imagine not having one now that I do. There's so much you can do with it.

I used, and wore out any number of meat grinders through the 1960s and 70s. Finally purchased Kitchen Aid mixer etc with a number of the accessories. I have used the grinder for processing my own Pigs, Deer and Elk for over 40 years. The unit has served me well for all my processing needs. The last couple of years the grinder body aged enough to begin a crack in a not critical place. Then I misplaced the grinding plates, hence the purchase. This one will certainly outlast me! What more can I ask.

The KitchenAid Metal Food Grinder Attachment is a great addition for my KitchenAid mixer! The attachment itself is a quality product, made from metal and well constructed. Each piece worked well, and there were no problems putting the parts together. The instructions were easy to follow. The grinding process was extremely fast, very little pressure is needed to move the food through. Clean up was an easy process, the pieces all come apart and clean up quick and easy. The provided brush is a blessing for getting to the grinder tube clean and works quite well, took less than 5 minutes to get all the pieces cleaned. Highly recommend.
I bought 3 of these. Well the first one was an older version, horrible. It has metal discharge in the meat, I reached out for the warranty. They didn't respond to me but thanks for letting them know. I bought this one 3 months ago for a friend as a gift, they said it was great. I ended up getting one a few days ago. First day testing it out, the plastic broke in half and shot all the meat and plastic parts all over the kitchen. It was 2 inches from hitting my 3 year old son who walked. This is actually very dangerous!! I made sure everything was tightened and was only grinding pork for lasagna. Scared the entire family, it could have hit me in the face if I was looking at the grinder. I looked away for a second at the front door. Dangerous!
We bought this two years ago for our homestead to grind extra meat into sausage. The few times we've used it, we could not get it to grind meat to anything resembling a nice consistency. We tried beef, duck, and pork in it, but it failed to produce a good grind. Either pink sludge comes out or giant chunks, and the auger gets gummed up immediately. We tried different coarse plates and even put the grinder and all the meat in the freezer for a little while to try to get it cold, but it doesn't help. We ended up just using our food processor to make burgers because this thing does not do the job at all. Maybe it would work for tenderloin or less tough cuts, but I would not want to grind those in the first place.

Love this now I know what is exactly in my burgers or sausage. I have even used different types of meat to make a meatloaf. You can grind your veggies with the meat cheese and it gets combined perfectly. Nothing stops this grinder. You get two different size extruder. Attaching to the mixer is straightforward. Cleaning is a breeze due to the fact that everything comes apart for easy cleaning. Do not put this in the dishwasher. The grinder is easy to use and what ever product you need ground this will do it.
I purchased the metal grinder and when Beef goes on sale, I grind my own hamburger and pork. The quality and price are far superior to store ground meat. I can customize my hamburgers by grinding half frozen bacon into it or smoked paprika and Liquid Smoke or with extremely lean beef, I add chunks of Frozen butter. My hamburgers are Gourmet Deluxe. The hamburger from the grocery store seems to be processed with water.Also, when grinding beef and pork for meatballs, I can also grind the onions, garlic, dried bread and egg all together. I love my Kitchenaid.
