KitchenAid Food Grinder Sausage Stuffer Attachment

I purchased this to attached on my kitchen aid mixer since I’ve been craving of sausage we had back home in Philippines. It’s easy to attached and used it. The manual really help on it. Easy to clean and unattached to it.

Before you buy

This does not work with the metal grinder or the model FGA. No where does it say that when I purchased it. I called and explained the problem and apparently my FGA grinder is older and there is no sausage stuffer kit available. Kitchenaid handled it well. They will return our payment and we do not need to return what we received, no that is customer service! Just sorry that I may need to buy a whole new grinder package for $80!

Collar ring fail

Broke the first time I used it. Seems the flimsy collar ring is a weak point in the system. Was quoted $38.00 (including tax and shipping)to replace just the little ring. Probably worth less than $1

Compatible with Newer Models Only

This is not compatible with the earlier versions of Kitchen Aide. I found a workaround in Youtube but this might void the warranty on your appliance. There is no note about this when I purchased this. Please be aware that this is for the newer models. Our is from 2010. But when we got it going, we made excellent sausages.

Does not work with FGA-2

Purchased this sausage attachment a few weeks ago, This attachment does not work for the old style of grinder (FGA-2). I am very disappointing that there is no mention that this attachment does not work for the older style of grinder.I had to print a new insert ring so that the auger is held in place and so that the stuffer attachment would actually thread onto the grinder.

First sausage stuffer

It's my first sausage stuffer so I have nothing to compare it to. It's hard to clean - but that's probably expected. My whole ground beef or pork with it is - The pusher isn't a solid piece it's designed so that there's the flat portion at the bottom and a "plus" sign as the main body/column. So when you stuff meat in there with the "pusher" or whatever it's called - the meat will sometimes squeeze out of the tiny gaps then end up where the empty space is at. It works okay - it probably could be designed better.

Just tried the SSA with the FGA. No good!

The grinder works great. But putting the already ground meat through the funnel using the plunger the meat just squishes around the end of the plunger. I tried to freeze it to assist and it kind of worked at first but after about a pound of meat it started thawing out again and began squishing again. Need a non passive plunger that doesn't allow bypass squishing.

Not compatible

I bought this product not realizing that is not compatible with my FGA model attachment. When I called I was told that I should've read the manual inside the box before the purchase to know that it doesn't work with that model. I couldn't believe the bad customer service i received.

Plunger FAIL

I have been making sausage for 40 years and decided the heavy cast machinery were getting just to heavy to deal with so I purchased the kitchenaid sausage stuffer kit. The design of the plunger is sheer incompetence and would most certainly have failed any real sausage making testing! Who makes a plunger that is quartered and hollow, too small in diameter causing a large gap for the sausage to back up all the way to the handle. It's absolutely useless. Start by sending your customers a real plunger! Which by the way, a solid black plunger is used in your videos???

it kinda works

I bought the plastic grinder and stuffer as a kit. I've made sausage a handful of times with it. Today was my last day with it. Frankly, it barely works. The grinder is fine, slow but fine for home use. But the stuffer is useless. It took me 2 hours to stuff 5lbs f ground meet with this thing. The plunger doesn't do anything but push air into the casing. I've researched to see if I was doing anything wrong, but I can't find anything. I have 5 more lbs to do tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it all. I think I'll invest in a real sausage maker now. I love the KA mixer, but this attachment just isn't worth the effort unless you are just making a link or two. FWIW, I have used a real stuffer and the difference is night and day.
