I love my pasta maker and use it quite often. When making manicotti with my adult grandchildren there was black grease on either side of pasta sheet. We then noticed that the underside plastic rollers were cracked. Grease coming from gears?? I clean with brush every time and dislodge pieces of pasta by knocking gently on counter. We cut out the soiled pieces of pasta but that shouldn’t happen. Next time I’ll take photos. This is the underside. Seems like many people are having same problem. Am I the only one that has grease issues? Still love making pasta but sorry I have to do so much trimming.

I have a pasta roller for many years and really enjoy making great pasta with it.That was until the plastic strip under the roller broke, and the whole thing stoped working properly.Noticed that most of the complaints here have prety much the same problem.Tried taking to repair and I was told that there is no support for this product, since this is an attachment.Tried writing an email to the address provided by Kitchenaid in other reviews here, and the answer was the same. Will have to buy a new one.Hey, Kitchenaid, how about changing the specs for this iten to metal or, at least, provide support for it?

My husband bought me a three piece pasta roller and cutter set about three years ago. I used the roller once to make ravioli and we decided to move so it was packed up and has been sitting in my new pantry all this time as we do a major renovation on our new home. I was finally able to pull it out to make ravioli last week and after making one batch I noticed as I was cleaning it, 4 cracks on the plastic where the ejects. I am heartbroken!! Only two uses and it’s broken! I haven’t even tried the other attachments yet. Of course they are out of warranty. I own SEVERAL KitchenAid items (all in red) and I love them but I’ve been looking on the site to see if I can get replacement parts just for the broken parts but of course that doesn’t seem to be an option. I own SEVERAL KitchenAid items (all in red) and I love them but I’ve been looking on the site to see if I can get replacement parts just for the broken parts but of course that doesn’t seem to be an option. For the price of the equipment I would hope that it would last longer than two uses. Guess I have to resort to the hand roller now. Totally heartbroken.
I bought this 5 years ago. I used it to make pasta and tortillas. It seems every time I used it with the pasta cutter set, always wished they were both longer so I could roll and cut bigger sheets of pasta to make bigger batches for the family/social dinners. It just takes so long to do so many skinny sheets of pasta.I also always wished there was wider setting to roll naan or thick flat breads through it.The sad part was the square metal rod that makes the whole thing work, broke so it won't spin anymore and now I have to buy another one. :/
I've used this item less than 10x in the 5+ years that I've had it. I've always treated it with the utmost care, only used the dusting brush and a cloth to clean it. Both sides of the bottom plastic wipers have cracked. Judging by the other reviews, this is a common issue due to poor quality plastic. Kitchen Aid needs to step up and make right to their customers when this is clearly a matter of poor quality control in material sourcing. This has worked well, however, I can see the writing on the wall with other peoples posts, my time is limited before these plastic bits splinter off and it's unusable.I will attempt to contact them about this, but virtual chat perpetually says due to high call volume chat is not available.
I've used this the roller a few times a year, so maybe 15 times since I purchased it. I've always used it, cleaned it and stored it with care and as intended. Plastic wipers have cracked and the large piece broke off rendering this attachment unusable (and therefore my other Kitchen Aid pasta attachments can not be used either as they do need the pasta sheets fed into their feeder). It seams that this is a common issue due to poor quality plastic. Kitchen Aid should have made a recall on this product or granted the simple and quick replacement to the customers that experienced this problem. I own numerous Kitchen Aid appliances and attachments, so I did spend a lot of money with the company. Warranty should not be used here as this is clearly faulty craftsmanship...
My roller attachment was part of the KPRA Pasta Roller and Cutter set, purchased in about 2005.Initially it worked well, but within a short time it developed cracks in the roller scrapers, which are visible on the bottom. The pasta sheets no-longer pass through the rollers without being deformed, and I cannot use the attachment in its current condition.I understand from other reviews that replacement parts for this attachment cannot be provided. Can you recommend any actions I can take to get my pasta roller fixed? I do not wish to discard it.I am very disappointed in this KitchenAid product, because it's demonstrated performance, durability and value were much less that the price I paid for it.
My KPRA scrapers are cracking too. Seems this has become a common issue. My wife and her mother are both trained chiefs. Her mother operated a Culinary School for many years, and her daughter is working for our local Culinary School in Kansas City. Our equipment has always been KitchenAid, so over the years they are proven tough, reliable, and best value in the market. You really do get what you pay for. We’re fans.Point of review what options do we have to replace the cracking parts ? Thanks
After the crappy plastic gears self-destructed on my manual pasta maker the decision was made to get the attachments to the stand mixer. I have the set of three: roller, spaghetti, and fettucini. They really do make the job a lot easier. I have been feeding the rollers relatively pliable paste dough which it handles easily. The whole set does a really nice job and it is so much easier to be able to use both hands to manage the dough while the machine does the rolling and cutting. Expensive but worth it. Full points.
