Add More Veggies and Have Fun Doing It

Best & safest way to make perfect Veggie Lasagna!

So I've had the spiralizer attachment for a few years and use it pretty often, but when it comes to making Veggie Lasagna, I was stuck making a difficult slice with a sharp nice (which resulted in "noodles" that were too thick) or my mandolin, which I routinely cut my hand with because you can't use the gripper thing that comes with it when slicing a long vegetable like a zucchini... it also often gets jammed up and creates messy/uneven noodles. This attachment goes on my mixer easily and makes PERFECT noodles! Much like the spiralizer, you need to choose your vegetables carefully, the straighter & more symmetrical the vegetable, the better this is going to go for you. You also need to be very careful to get the vegetable centered when you load it or you will waste ... MoreSo I've had the spiralizer attachment for a few years and use it pretty often, but when it comes to making Veggie Lasagna, I was stuck making a difficult slice with a sharp nice (which resulted in "noodles" that were too thick) or my mandolin, which I routinely cut my hand with because you can't use the gripper thing that comes with it when slicing a long vegetable like a zucchini... it also often gets jammed up and creates messy/uneven noodles. This worked great for store bought zucchini & summer squash, but some of the more irregular farmers market ones would not fare well. Fat sweet potatoes do not fit on here, you need to buy skinnier more cylindrical ones but so far they are my favorite to make a big wide noodle with and toss with butter & sage. I feel like this would also be a great way to prep things for the dehydrator or to make fancy garnishes with. Overall, really satisfied with this, I think probably the best way to go about getting a sheet of veggies and very user friendly. Not that I needed another reason to love my kitchenaid but happy to have one!

I don't even know where to get these replacement parts. Does this mean that I need purchase the whole vegie cutter attachment again? The week plastic skewer does not seem to hold heavy vegetables well. For overall skewers of even other attachments, they don't seem to stabilize the tangential force well in place. If you can either let me know where I can get this part or send me one, it will be appreciated although this material will still may be the same level of rigidity.

Get your "Veg" on!
24 May 2019

We have been eating SOOOO many more veggies since I bought the KitchenAid Vegetable Sheet Cutter. It's only been a week but the journey has only begun and the possibilities are almost endless. We adore wraps but don't want the extra carbs. Enter the lovely long sheets of "veg" that have taken wraps to a whole new level. Even sweet potato, cut and brushed with EVO and thrown on the grill pan for a quick sear/heat/soften makes the best wrap imaginable. Take that burger, a bit of cheese, fresh sweet pea shoots and hummus and wrap it up in the sweet potato wrapper and you'll gladly give up that carb heavy bun! Zoodles (Zucchini noodles) with pesto and toasted walnuts came out perfectly. Zoodles (Zucchini noodles) with pesto and toasted walnuts came out perfectly. How about a unique take on breakfast with delicate sheets of Granny Smith apples stuffed with rolled oats, pecans, craisins and honey then baked in the oven and topped with Greek yoghurt? The only difficulty I've had is with butternut squash but I've read many other reviews that suggest this is one of the toughest ones to manage due to the hollow seed-filled core. Despite the challenge, I used just the top solid part of the squash and made an incredible butternut squash lasagne filled with coasrely chopped oyster mushrooms in a mornay sauce and finished with fried sage leaves and fresh Grana Padano...can I honestly say it was more satisfying than my homemade lasagne noodles? Yes! This is a game changer and I'm looking forward to playing and creating countless other beautiful and flavorful recipes with the new attachment.

Great Idea, Poor Materials

We were very excited to use this attachment and have been very satisfied with several of the other attachments we use, some quite frequently in a professional capacity. Unfortunately this one didn't make past its debut in the kitchen. One of the teeth broke shortly in to its duties, and another after giving it a second chance with fingers crossed. I'm a chef, not an engineer, but I probably should've seen it coming upon unpacking. While this was a very thoughtful gift for home use having me draw up cool applications in my head, I am left disappointed yet hopeful that there will be an affordable (and dependable) vegetable sheeter in the future,

Haven't used it yet but well made
23 December 2021

I bought this because my daughter loves hers. I am interested in making vegetable sheets for lasagne in an effort to eat less carbs and pasta. I think once I get into it, the zucchini slices will be awesome substitutes for pasta lasagne sheets. Just wish it had co.e with more detailed instructions and some recipe ideas for people like me who need some inspiration. Very sturdy looking machine and well packaged with very fast delivery, alas as yet not used. Can't rate the performance yet as I haven't tried it, but I think the performance will largely depend on the size and type of vegetables used.

KitchenAid® Vegetable Cutter Attachment for Mixer

This is one of the most innovative attachments I’ve ever used on my Kitchen Aid mixer. I make a lot of pasta dishes and add loads of vegetables to my dishes. I used cucumbers, squash, potatoes, peaches, plums and pears and successfully sliced these food items into consistent, even with little effort! It takes a bit to comprehend the instructions, but once you begin the process, it comes very naturally. When you process vegetables, it’s best if you purchase them in lengths of 6 inches or less and wide, if available. The best part of the processing is that it’s so easy and efficient with little effort on my end. You can adjust the size and width of the vegetable or fruit slice. Kitchen Aid promotes the attachment for creating all types of pasta and it had no problems making different size of noodles. The main component parts are plastic and after processing vegetables and fruits, the components are very easy to clean and service. This sheet cutter is built sturdy and durable allowing a lot of versatility that will deliver great results for a long period of time. I rate this Kitchen Aid attachment a 5-STAR rating. It is a great investment for your mixer.

When I got this I actually had no idea what I was going to do with it but since I had never had an attachment for my kitchen aid I wanted to give it a try. First off this is totally easy to connect to your kitchen aid , just unscrew the bolt and plate on the front and it pops right in. The instructions were easy with pictures and took me about 2 minutes to hook it all up. It includes two adapters, one for hard foods like potatoes and apples and one for soft like cucumbers and zucchini. There are also two sliced options that are either 1.3mm thick or 1.8mm thick. The first thing I put on was an apple and set it to speed number 2- it recommends that for whatever you are doing. It took about 20 seconds to slice a large apple. So fast!! My kids grabbed it right away and thought it was super fun to eat that way. Hoping the same will go for veggies! We’re also think we can use this to slice apples to dehydrate for future snacks! I’m just so excited about all the things you can do with this and would absolutely recommend it. Seriously it’s so fun and easy and if it makes the kids eat healthy food then I am on board!

I thought my Spiralizer was fantastic - and it is. This sheet cutter offers different options so there's no overlap. The versatility is endless. Some comments described a little difficulty setting up. I did it wrong the first time, watched the video again, and caught what I missed. The key is to cut the vegetable to the blade width. Make sure each end is cut flat. Insert a prong on either end, centered as closely as possible. Then attach 1 prong and slide the rod through. Spinning/cutting will be uneven if you add the vegetable after the prongs are attached. So far, I've made zucchini lasagna from scratch and ricotta rollups I call stuffed 'zucchotti' (instead of manicotti) with my homemade fresh tomato sauce. Both were excellent and so much lighter than pasta, even though I previously made my own thin pasta. A reviewer mentioned using a faster mixer speed (5-6) for softer vegetables. That's a great hint I'll be sure to try for my next dinner baked eggplant parmigiana.
