My cat is really picky and wont eat any hard food. I have been trying so many kinds natural and not. With no luck! I gave one more shot with the Orijen Kitten Formula. I am so happy I did, my kitten devoured the bowl. Which shocked me, and made me relieved because I knew she was getting nutrition versus the canned food I was feeding her. I love that this is made with real raw free run chicken/turkey & salmon/herring. Lots of vitamins which are essential to her health. Overall I am happy & so is she. I definitely recommend especially if your kitten is picky like mine.

This used to be great cat food our cats loved. Apparently the company was recently sold, and according to the store where we buy the food, the new owners do not use the same high quality ingredients. Our cats now refused to eat it. We took back 2 bags today. I expect the purchaser of this company will soon realize that efforts to save money by using inferior, less expensive ingredients was a poorly conceived idea.

I just received this last week and am slowly weaning my kitten over to it instead of her current food. According to the package the first 5 ingredients are fresh or raw poultry and fish ingredients and 2/3 of each bag includes fresh or raw ingredients. Their fresh ingredients use refrigeration as the sole method of preservation and our raw ingredients are frozen at their peak freshness. Says that it helps support your kitten’s digestion with prebiotics such as dried chicory root and natural sources of fiber from whole pumpkin, collard greens, whole apples & whole pears. My kitten is a very finicky eater so I am hoping that she likes this and maybe I can quit offering canned (wet) food! Thank you Orijen for making a cat food that has natural ingredients.
Orijen - Kitten Formula, is a wonderful kitten food, that is perfect for introducing you little ones to hard food. The product is the perfect size for small kitten mouths and is the perfect hardness to ensure that they don't choke while learning to eat. Orijen is made from extremely good quality ingredients that I am happy to feed my kittens and has the perfect nutritional values to benefit growing cats. I am currently fostering 4 kittens and they absolutely love this food. It is recommended that you introduce your animals gradually by mixing with their original food, but I just placed some in a bowl on it's own next to a bowl of their original food, and they picked Orijen right away.This is a fantastic kitten formula and I thoroughly recommend it to others!
My 3 month kittens love it, and I used 7 days switching method, however one of them still got diarrhea after completely switching to this new food. I decided to mix the old with this new again for a longer period of time. The kibbles have a bigger size compare to hills or Nulo, which could potentially let the kittens chew more than directly swallow, but they could also chew not enough and swallow bigger pieces and give digestive system a heavier workload. The kibble size has both good and bad side depending on your kitten’s eating behavior. But I really like orijen and trust it’s meat sources, so I will continue try this food and slowly mingle it with the old food.
We have 3 cats of all various ages (youngest being 12 weeks). We bought the 4lb kitten bag for the baby yet they all devoured the food!! Won’t even touch the old stuff we used to use! I read the ingredients and compared ratings to other higher level brands and Orijen will be our new household name! My only concerns 1.) the cost - which is actually good for the ingredients and 2.) we’re s small area so our local stores are very limited (almost down to one option) for anything that pertains to kittens. I’ve looked online and seen varieties of “Cats & Kittens,” or “All ages,” but we don’t have that option. So if I want to purchase for all of them, it will actually add up to buy separate bags than to be able to get one good size bag. But we will definitely do what we can.
After doing some online research, and wanting a high quality dry kitten food we tried Acana, and then Origen. Our male kitten freaking loves it! He's a happy, healthy, big goofy orange cat, probably made bigger by the premium cat food. From one kg at 9 weeks, to 5 kg at 9 months (no Maine Coon or Ragdoll that we're aware of). BONUS: made in my home province of Alberta so no supply chain issues yet!
I purchased two four pound bags and started feeding it to my 10 week old Ragdoll/Birman kitten, he really took to it in the beginning. After about three weeks I noticed his stools were very loose, I had him vaccinated and dewormed twice. Started him back on Orijen kitten and the loose, and now very smelly stools came back with added gas. My kitty's behavior was otherwise healthy and happy, but I couldn't stop the diarrhea so I had to stop feeding this food.Orijen kitten has the best ingredients on the market, but it wasn't right for my little guy.
