I bought this to cut cable seals on trailers and containers that I encounter on my job as a hostler at a distribution center. I love top notch tools that make my job easier and this cutter fits the bill. It cuts cleanly and keeps its edge after hundreds of cuts. I highly recommend it to my coworkers and anyone who appreciates fine tools.

Absolutely stunned at these wire cutters! I use them mostly for bicycle wire, and they really shine in this application. Clean cuts every time, clean crimps every time. Soft handles. Lock-close mechanism never slips. Spring loaded for ease-of-use. Worth every penny. Only downside is now I'm looking for more Knipex tools to spend cash on!

The shears were bought for daily use in a bike workshop. They're used for cutting gear and brake cable and the associated outers which must be cut cleanly without separating the wire cores. They replaced the Park Tool cutters I used previously. The Park ones were ok but these seem better. Perhaps because they're new. They're more expensive than the Park ones and I hope they last longer. The handles are plenty long enough for good leverage and an easy cut, they're also very comfortable. Time will tell how well they last but so far I'm very happy with them.

Hands down better than the Park Tool and Pedros tools. These cut so cleanly and feel so solid every time I make a cut. They also have a nice spot for crimping end caps or wire rope couplers. I know they might be more designed for piano wire and other thicker stuff, but this tool is amazing bicycle cable and housing. I have had too many rough and uneven cuts with tool brands that are bicycle specific. I love good quality tools and that is what this tool is to the letter. This a solid addition to your bicycle tool box over a Park tool or Pedros tool.
I wish I had looked for this sooner. I've been putting up shade sails and was trying to use different tools to cut the 1/8" cable. It was such a hassle. When I finally thought, "There has to be an easier way!" I found these. They're perfect. No effort whatsoever! Plus the cuts are clean. It was a smaller tool than I expected but it's amazing how well they cut.
Jaws are sharp. I use for bicycle repair. It easily cuts through brake and shift cables and through the housing as well. It still bends the metal on the brake housing, but whatever. I also like the one hand unlock/lock feature for the jaws. Every saved second counts once the weather improves.
The very first cuts of 1/8" SS cable left frayed ends. I tightened the pivot bolt and that helped. A short time later the little thumb lock fell off and we had to search for the parts, only to find it can't feasibly be replaced as it was swaged in. Through several dozen cuts we had maybe 20% with what seemed like a single strand of wire that would catch as we threaded it through 3/16" holes in wood. Tying to retrim frayed ends did not work unless you cut back a couple inches as the compression of the cut would cause the shorter end to unravel and not cut cleanly. I wasn't impressed with this cutter, considering that German manufacturing has a good reputation otherwise. Perhaps I just got a lemon and I plan to send it back.
These are excellent. Small, sharp, powerful size to shear strength ratio. Years and years of using dull bolt cutters to snip braided steel cable, lord, what on earth was I thinking...? These are also Expensive. Dang. And,, worth it. - a total joy to snip through 3/16 braided steel cable, sssmooth and clean. Swaging on the other hand is not so easy, to crimp the aluminum swages onto the cable you have got to have pretty darn strong hands, or crimp close to the edge where the metal moves easier. That said, if you are doing this for stage or lighting work or working with 1/4 inch cable, you already know you'll need a big-#ss swaging tool... Safety first, over build and sleep tight at night! (2 more inches on the handles would be superb but I love how compact they are).
These cut okay… But, the pivot point is too small and positioned too close to the end. This makes it impossible to fully open the jaws with one hand. The handles have to be pulled so far apart that it requires two hands. Not good if you have to hold the wire rope too.
These were a gift for my husband. One of the guys that used to work with him had these. The guy quit and he wanted a pair just like them because they worked so well. He has used them recently and says they work great. My husband wanted these for work and I got them for him for Sweetest Day. I put them with the handles up in Styrofoam with several small dowel rods and attached candy to the handles and dowels. Great gift and it took him several minutes to find the rope cutter.
