The tool really works well, but only after you figure it out. It does not come with any instructions on how to use it, which is why it only gets four stars.

I bought this just to try it out on SO cable and it works alot better than my strippers do. I would definitely suggest this if you have alot of cords to strip back .

Probably my most disappointing Knipex purchase. The blade has a dogleg in it, inside the tool, and it freely turns so this changes the location WRT the cable. No idea who designed this
Once you figure out the right blade adjustment you can strip any width of cable. I would prefer to see the adjustment wheel more rigid to avoid the dial move on its own when handling
The blade is free-spinning. The knob at the bottom adjusts the blade height/cutting depth (no numerical markings.) It sounds like there is a spare blade inside the hollow plastic housing, which would be accessed with a screwdriver. The clamping spring is strong. The handle fits into my hand fairly comfortably. While this isn't my favorite style of jacket remover, it claims to work down to 4MM (which I haven't tried yet.) It works great on the 1/4" - 1/2" cables I've been using lately. Crosscuts are perfect. Spiral cuts and rip cuts are very good. I own a couple different Knipex products and have been 100% satisfied with all of them.
This insulation slitter does work as expected but its really touchy. The difference between slicing just the cable jacket and not nicking the wires is a minuscule adjustment. I would recommend trying it on a small section of the cable before committing to slicing the entire thing. Currently im just using it to recover wires for reuse from IEC mains cables and some larger cables. So far its working well and since its not that expensive, I can recommend it.
Very difficult to use, to turn the blade for stripping sheathing off of wire you turn a wheel at the bottom. The wheel also changes the height of the blade and is difficult to operate. I bought this because it was cheap in the warehouse deals but it was not worth the $12.00 I spent. I have used Greenlee and Paladin versions that have a lever to turn the blade and they were much better although their price reflects the difference in quality. This tool does not live up to the Knipex reputation for quality tools.
amazing little tool. Used it this past week to build dozens of new extension cords and some 8/5 SOOW heavy duty twistlock cables for the entertainment industry. I love not being worried any more about nicking the inner conductor jackets when stripping off the exterior. Takes just a little getting used to, but amazing.
useful tool, high quality...I wish they made this with fixed blade though as blade rotates too easily and I only use it to score circumference of wire shieling
