Came in a damaged box, slight damage to teeth on top jaw. Looked second hand and dripping with oil. Good grips if you get a new pair I reckon. Returning them. Disappointing experience. Should of taken a pic, but they're packed up and ready to go back in the morning.

Cheaper versions of this tool would work just fine. However I usually find myself reaching for the mole grips as a last resort, so a good grip is essential. These grips are superbly constructed with very little play in the joints and good sharp serrations in the jaws. Everything about these feels robust and well built. I think you would be hard pressed to find a better quality tool anywhere around the same price range. Very happy customer.

It’s made in Germany, what’s not to like?Ok it’s 3 times the price than an ordinary Universal Jaw locking Pliers but it is worth every penny because of the functionality and quality, therefore it’s the last one you ever will buy.

Good grips but the adjusting screw was very tight in the thread. The trouble seems to be that, unlike other makes, Knipex has cut a part-thread into the inner part of the handle. This was causing the screw to bind, and the thread was also not completely clean. This partly-threaded section also seems to restrict the opening action of the jaws as the arm end catches on the thread as the jaws expand to their widest. These faults do detract from the quality of the tool. I like the thinner jaws for access but some jobs might need a thicker grip.
Honest review, I rarely review stuff online but on this one I felt the need to. The quality and finish are top class, the grip strenght u can feel from when u clamp the material that it will hold and never let go! I worked with them on the cladding industry and clamped heavy materials, but I was never worried that it will fail or lose grip. Buy with trust, worth the extra penny over the Stanley ones...or irwin etc. Oh and if u ever feel the need to search for better clamps, try the Facom ones, or Beta brand's. :)
The product is fantastic, strurdy, strong and does exactly what it's meant to do... really well... spend the extra few pounds and get this. However, first one from Home Essentials Direct was in a damaged box and had obvious signs of being used, dents, marks and even damaged jaws, which as I later found out isn't easy to do. I sent them back, got a fast replacement, but same problem, obviously not a new pair. The second pair had no jaw damage and needing them for for job, I used them and love them. Feel a bit cheated by Home Essentials Direct, but product is great.
This is my first Knipex tool, and probably my last. First the positive: the release lever is a better design than my Irwin and Milwaukee tools. It makes them truly a one handed tool. The negatives: (1) The screw to change the opening size is poorly threaded and hard to turn even with no load. (2) I've only used them once on mild steel, and there's a lot a wear on the teeth in the jaws. (3) When the tool is closed, the jaws don't line up correctly. Still usable, but not something I would have expected from a brand name German tool. I'll stick with something better for similar tools in the future like Klein/Irwin/etc.
This is another tool I didn’t think I needed... until I needed locking pliers that could be used in a tight space. The angled nose and slim head (only 3/16” wide) were just what I needed. The tool is made in Germany and seems to be well made -- no sway in the jaws, well aligned teeth, and solid riveting. The adjustment screw has teeth to release (or tighten) the jaws, but the addition of an allen hex or quarter inch ratchet to the back of the adjustment screw would have been a nice addition (my cheap locking pliers have a ratchet indent). Of course, I can always use pliers on the release arm if I've really locked on and all else fails. And perhaps it’s because I have large hands, but the advertised “1 hand operation” requires that I use 2 hands for release... go ... MoreThis is another tool I didn’t think I needed... until I needed locking pliers that could be used in a tight space. These angled long nose pliers are more expensive than the 9" Knipex straight jaw version, but angled locking pliers typically cost more.Overall a nice tool.
these are well made as others have commented the adjustment screw seems to be threaded into the handle and was stiff at 1st. but loosened up with some oil and use. they don't feel 'sloppy" like some of the cheaper brands. I use them for holding items so cannot comment on the jaws been soft, for loosening I awkward items I would rather use a footie.
