I've just got into film photography and Kodak gold was my starting point. It's a great colour film that's really well priced. I feel like this is a very good place to start learning. It renders colours very well and gives you that all important 'film look'. It also keep the price of mistakes low too!I'm very much enjoying Kodak Gold and I'll be returning too it in the future espically in the summer.

Similar to ColorPlus, but with more pastel shades and oddly enough, I felt it retained more detail. Very nice blues and skin tones, colours aren't too vibrant, though greens and reds can be very punchy. Dynamic range seemed good, capturing the sky very well even in bright days. Overall, it performed extremely well in my Olympus Pen-EE half-frame camera, with good grain even with the half resolution of the images.

A film that works well in good light and produces pleasing greens in my view. Quite warm generally. I don't love the grain, but understand that others will. Very capable performer and certainly a step up from Colour Plus. Given the competition this summer, I expect we'll all see plenty of lovely examples of what this film can do. It won't replace Portra or Ektar for me, but it is much cheaper and produces decent results.

I have come across many reviews on the internet which put it on a level with ColourPlus but I think it is much superior: the grain is finer, the lines are cleaner, there is more life in the image and the colours do not wash out and turn drab when there's a cloud in the sky.I also don't think it is always used right, from what I have seen. I do not over expose it or shoot it at 100ISO. I shoot at box speed and, especially in high contrast lighting, meter for the median between the highlights and shadows. The images I get are exactly as I remember seeing the scene at the time. Especially in England, going in to the Winter there might be fewer opportunities to shoot in favourable conditions, so it might be advisable to buy 24 exposures and keep an ISO400 film to hand.
I have held onto this film for a long time, waiting for the appropriate subject and bright light given the ISO of this film. After one use, I fully see why the community loves this film. The film renders scenes very warm (warmer than portra) so I personally would avoid using it on cooler scenes. The warmth of this film can slightly give instagram filter feel to images, yet for holiday snaps I think it's great. I think I will still prefer Portra over Gold but for the price difference, Gold is not to be disregarded.
AW kindly sent the kodak gold 3 pack in an AW cardboard box and they even included a return label for getting the films developed and an AW sticker which was rather cute. The films have a long date until they expire which is convenient. I have not used them yet but once I do, I will update my review on their quality but knowing they're kodak, you know you're going to get a wonderful end result. it worked out to be £12 a roll including the postage which isn't bad in comparison to other places. thanks AW for all that you do!! kindest regards ✨️ ❤️
I've tried this film for photos taken from the bright middle of the day to even the dead of night, indoors and outdoors. Yes it can look good in low light too, despite the fairly low ISO, as long as a slow enough shutter or some flash is used.The tone of the colours is also very warm and homely. I really like the feel of photos taken with this film.Photos shot with Kodak 200 in a Pentax ME Super.
There's a reason why Gold 200 is so popular. If you're out for the day and snapping with a point-and-shoot, if you're engaging in a summertime project and you want to grab people's attention, or if you're picking up your camera with no idea what you'll see or photograph over the next few hours, Gold 200 will see you right. You can load it without thinking too hard about it, and it'll repay your confidence in spades. Recommended for the novice and the seasoned filmhead!
These days, if you spot a film at this price point, you would be forgiven for expecting for less than you actually end up getting. This really is the all rounder colour film. Kodak Gold is as perfect for beginners or those more experienced shooters who are looking for the grainy low ISO rawness it offers up. While not quite a 'student film', Kodak Gold 200 does give you the opportunity to experiment with loads of different shots, subjects or conditions while still basically guaranteeing consistent results.
I took these on a work summer social - I used a Minolta Dynax 404si with the built in flash (i'd softened the light however by wrapping a tissue around it). Light meter on my phone was used for the outside pics.Whenever I think of film it tends to be this aesthetic. The outdoor pics have a haunting quality to them (which is right up my street) and with plenty of light from the flash, a very different mood - rich colours, very little grain, warm and inviting 😍
