Bought the extra large kong, fill it with all sorts of dog treats our lab/pitbull enjoys peanut butter, yams and dog food mix sometimes with shredded carrots and or apples. This kong is long lasting but for awhile the extra large was hard to find. Really needed the extra large for her. It keeps her busy sometimes for most of an afternoon, especially when left home alone. Helps to use up her enegry. She usually chews up her toys no matter the type in a few minutes. Yak bones only last about half hour. This has lasted for over a year so far, bought another one for our new pit bull puppy. Helps keep teeth clean. Will continue to buy kong products. Washes up nice in dishwasher. It does smell when first get it so a cycle in the dishwasher takes care of it.

I have a BIG dog-American Bully XL. Black Kongs last for years in my house. The trick to keeping the dog interested for more than a few minutes is to FREEZE the contents. I mix a tablespoon of peanut butter or Cheex Wiz in some prepared instant mashed potato, microwave it, stuff the Kong, and then freeze it. It takes the dogs at least 15 minutes (smaller dog, an hour) to finish. These are easy to clean with a baby bottle brush (try the dollar aisle at the grocery store for that) and the dishwasher. I recommend having two per dog - one in the freezer and one to play with. I prepare a container full of mix and keep it in the fridge for refills. You can also mix in other ingredients like baby carrots, green beans, chopped apple, dog biscuits, etc. for variety.

He's a tenatious one who will sit there and work until all is gone. He's also a big time chewer for a small pup who has destroyed a lot of other toys, and yet the kong has endured the abuse from his powerful teeth quite well. It definitely shows the wear and some teeth marks but no tear so far. The other pro is that it's dish washer safe. I toss it in the washer and comes out clean, no fuss. The only issue I had is that the packaging instruction could be better at helping people choose the right size of the toy. I bought the smallest one solely based on my pup size only to find it pretty much useless and I was stuck with it. I recommend getting to know your pup a bit better before you choose the appropriate size of this toy that best suits his/her needs. This is completely useless for my chihuahua who has absolutely zero interest in working for treats. Also, if your pup is like my cocker spaniel, consider getting a bigger size so it can be used to feed meals. I also freeze the toy with stuffing to make it more challenging and stretch out the effort level.

These are more durable than the red version. They are more safe because they don’t fall apart as easily. It took my heavy chewing bull terrier about a year of daily use to even show a crack in the top round part. They are fairly easy to clean. Just a rinse usually gets any remaining remnants of a treat out and if there is buildup that needs more cleaning, a cup cleaning brush will get the rest out. We have also put them in the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning. We freeze bananas (precut in halfs) and use them for a daily treat. The pups love them! It keeps them entertained for about 20 mins. They look forward to this treat every day. If I forget, my bully always reminds me when it’s time for her treat😁

This kong toy is my old dog's favorite toy! We have it in orange and now it's old and black and mildewy from him toting it around everywhere and even burying it outside. We've had it approximately 5 years and it is still perfectly fine except it's filthy. It has an open cavity which I pack with peanut butter when I bathe his 125 lb behind. He hates water and the toy with the peanut butter keeps him occupied as I bathe him in our shower. I love the material and he loves that it bounces and it is erratic when it bounces due to the shape so he has a field day with fetch with this toy. If you gave a doggy obsessed with chewing or with playing fetch, or you have a bored dog, then try this toy. It's worthy of the price and lasts FOREVER!

Held up so far to my super-chewer!

My new dog loves demolishing rubber toys. She surgically split a medium Kong Extreme bone in half in about a half hour of chewing and has ripped up many other toys already in the month I've had her. I got the large Kong Extreme ball so it wouldn't fit in her mouth as well, and it's still going strong with just a few teeth marks! So far this, a large Kong Extreme Goodie Ribbon, a few Goughnuts toys, and a large WoofBite ball are the only rubber toys to last more than 20-30 minutes before going in the trash. If these had an option without a hole through them, they would probably be even better. I can tell that that'll be where she starts getting pieces ripped off eventually. Holds up but smaller than I thought it’d be

Bought the black Kong size large to replace my dogs torn up, dirty, red one we’d thrown out. We bought the original one in stores and I wasn’t paying attention to what size it was labeled as. So when choosing the size here I went with large cause she’s a 60lbs pittie mix and that seemed appropriate. When it arrived it was definitely smaller than the other one we had gotten rid of. Not small enough that it seems like a hazard but I wouldn’t have chosen this size if it was in stores. It’s held up well (and better than the red one) we’ve had it for 4 months and it’s just now really showing tooth marks (at the 4mo mark the red one already had small chunks missing). I guess I need EXTRA extreme

This extreme Kong lasted for about 9 months with my 12 year old border collie mix. She’s a chewer and always has been, it’s her favorite pastime, so I get toys like this. I don’t know how it broke like that but if it can, she finds a way. I was expecting it to last longer than it did. As you can see in the picture, it was one of her favorites as evidenced by all of the teeth marks. I expect her to destroy every toy that enters the house but I did have some higher hopes for this. Maybe it was defective? For people with super chewers just beware. I’m used to every single toy being destroyed no matter how “tough” or “strong” the toy claims to be. I may try other types of Kong extreme toys just to see if different styles have a different fate.
