I've been using this for several months now on multiple projects, and I finally gave up on it! The so-called "convenient clamp adapter and anti-slip base" is worthless. It doesn't hold the clamp jaw in place and constantly slips out of the base; it's the opposite of anti-slip. I've tried everything to get this contraption to perform, short of epoxying the jaw into the adapter, and it just doesn't work. It's poorly made in China with thin, flimsy plastic. I've wasted too much of my time already with this jig not to mention the anger and frustration whenever I use it. I'm done with this torture device!

I'm building a board and batten mudroom bench etc and found this to be an excellent purchase. I'm learning to use a number of tools as I go and this was extremely easy to figure out. I first made a few trial holes to make sure I knew what I was doing. After that, it was very easy to make the holes and switch back and forth to the tool to drive the screw in. I also did a few tests using a standard way of screwing to 2x4s together and found the pocket hole to be far stronger, plus it just looks professional. Well worth $40.

I had seen the Kreg Pocket hole idea on YouTube for many years, but continued with my old dowel and glue system, thinking it would always be superior to pocket hole joinery, I was not able to fathom how this was ever going to work and be strong at the same time. Eventually I gave it a try, and all I can say is, I will never do joinery any other way from the very first pocket hole I ever created, I have now probably created 10 thousand pocket holes, and am still in awe of the system, and its strength. This was truly a masterful concept. My only slight gripe was that the little grey clips that slide to the correct size for your desired needs, are a little flimsy, and I have broken more than one of them over a few months, where one side cracks off and then they will ... MoreI had seen the Kreg Pocket hole idea on YouTube for many years, but continued with my old dowel and glue system, thinking it would always be superior to pocket hole joinery, I was not able to fathom how this was ever going to work and be strong at the same time. I haven't used mine yet; however, I helped a friend with several projects using the same model. It worked so well that I decided to get one of my own.I am a cabinetmaker/woodworker with many years of experience and have always used dowels when making face frames. This system works so much better and is much faster.Kreg makes some very innovative/helpful tools for cabinetmakers and DIY woodworkers. Keep up the good work Kreg?
I really liked the older version of the Kreg Pocket Hole jigs and thought that they were super user friendly. But Kreg has really out done themselves with this updated pocket hole jig. The jig is super user friendly in the set up making it almost mistake free. Plus the jig, drill bit, and driver bit are high quality. The jig itself is made of the classic kreg blue plastic that first glance seems like it would be cheap and easy to break but once you actually get it in your hands and start to use it you realize how strong and sturdy the plastic is and you don't have to worry about breaking it. the though the jig is primarily made of plastic the drill guide is made of steel so you do not have to worry about drilling through that or widening out the drill guide through ... MoreI really liked the older version of the Kreg Pocket Hole jigs and thought that they were super user friendly. The Hex key used to tighten the drill bit stop collar also doubles as a guide to measure material thickness ranging from 1/2 to 1-1/2. The drill also contains the corresponding measurement range on it so you can properly set you depth guide. The jig also has a no slip matting on the underside to make sure you don't have any movement when you are making your drill hole. This pocket hole set also comes with an attachment so you can use the pocket hole jig with Kreg's clamps which makes it even easier to use.The Kreg set also comes with a nice plastic carrying case and 40 of Kreg's common screws which is a nice starter set feature.Overall the kreg 320 is super easy to use, super easy to set up and very good quality. Overall a must have for anyone looking into doing woodworking.
I've been using Kreg Pocket hole jigs for years, having bought the first kit that came out. This kit (Model KPHJ320) really improves convenience. Starting with a hex-shank step drill marked at 1/2”, 3/4” and 1-1/2” for the drill stop, with an easy-ty-use allen wrench that doubles as a thickness gauge, Kreg made many well-designed improvements. To be sure, the holes are no better but it's much easier to drill them, and MUCH easier to change the setup for drilling different thickness materials. The sliding plastic depth stops take a bit of getting used to, and the depth indicator shows the correct setting before the stop engages in its lock, so that takes some care. The sliding plastic depth stops take a bit of getting used to, and the depth indicator shows the correct setting before the stop engages in its lock, so that takes some care. The base of the jig is covered in a rubber pad to provide excellent friction to keep the jig from sliding on the wood when drilling. I don't have to clamp down as hard as before. The jig can be assembled in several different configurations, once you get over the fear of breaking it while unlocking/re-locking the pieces. Consult the instructions to see exactly where to pull, when to rotate, and how to disengage various parts. It took quite a bit of force the first few times, but I expect things to loosen up with more use.Two things I was unimpressed with. First, it does not include the necessary vise clamp to fit the universal clamp pad. Without that pad, any regular wood-clamp will work well though. Fortunately, I have the vise clamp from my original Kreg kit, but I find it easier to use a regular clamp in most cases. The clamp pad itself secures to the clamp head, and then press-fits into various slots on the jig with a rubber post. The whole assembly can then easily slide along the drilling surface for hole placement, if desired. This is one area where I think the old design worked better, where the clamp head just slid into a slot on the jig.The kit includes two sizes of pocket screws to get started. Trust me when I say after using this kit, you will buy more pocket screws for many more projects.
Product appears to work well. I've used buscuits until now to accomplish many of the same objectives. Price is too much, but that is he issue with all retail stores at this stage in the economy. Profits at the expense of humanity. Sounds reasonable. One aspect of the product I enjoy is that it creates a "production line" process for simple projects that were at one time far more tedious. Not sure I would want to use it for most upscale wood working projects. The cost on the screws recommended by Kreg is outrageous given that their are other fasteners on store shelves of equal or greater quality at less cost.Would like
There are just endless uses for a portable jig that will allow you to make pocket hole joints quickly and is very easy to use and the Kreg 320 does the job perfectly. The Kreg Pocket hold Jig 320 is a modular jig system that allows the DIY’er to quickly and accurately drill a single or multiple, spaced or not spaced pocket hole(s) without the risk of busting through the face of the board. The 320 is designed to be used on material ranging from ½ inch up to 1 ½ inches and the kit comes with all the items needed less a clamp. The jig itself has hardened steel inserts that guide the “easy set drill and stop collar” allowing for multiple uses and it still remain accurate. The jig is in three pieces, two guides and one spacer that can be easily manipulated to fit whatever your current needs are. The bottom of the jig have anti slip rubber type material on them to help prevent them from moving while in use and there are depth gage markings on each of the guides for easy placement when clamping. The kit comes with a combo material thickness gage and stop collar Allen wrench. The wrench part is used to adjust the stop collar on the 2-stage drill to the material thickness found by the gage part. There is also a 6-inch square drive bit for a strong bite so you can put the screws in pretty hard wood. I personally went back to the normal Philips head wood screws over the square drive but that’s my preference as the square drive screw work perfectly fine. The kit also come with a universal clamp pad adapter, but I simply use a quick clamp and it held just fine. This is a great tool to have, I fixed several “rickety” chairs and one wobbly table with it by adding one more pocket and the wife could not be happier. The product is well made and very easy to use. Its price point is reasonable and for the quality of the product well worth it. Recommended.
This kit is very basic with no bells and whistles. This includes the manual that comes with it. It took a while to figure out exactly how to best use the device. Fortunately, I have enough tools that I could make it work. I didn't use the pocket screws that came in the kit. I used some that I had. They were flat head screws and they worked fine. The regret is that I didn't buy a more extensive kit, but saving money was an issue. Knowing what I know now I would either pass on this jig and continue doing pockets "old school", or opt to purchase a more expensive kit.
I tried to use only this without the Kreg clamp. I used other clamps with a squeeze trigger. it works "okay" but you'll commonly have misaligned holes because the work piece and the jig slide around. This really shouldn't be sold without a clamp, or it should say Kreg clamp also required. Also, it's very delicate. I've dropped it in my shop a few times and the depth gauges now have broken plastic on both sides. It makes it even more of a gamble whether or not you get two straight holes. One will typically always slide out of place. Then you need to find a sturdy thing to press the work piece down on while you do the drilling. I end up using the end of a bench made for sitting so I can put my body weight on the drill while drilling the holes. Good luck trying to do ... MoreI tried to use only this without the Kreg clamp. Good luck trying to do this in any way except by pushing it into the ground or something on the ground.I definitely should have gotten the better model with a clamp built in and tabletop operation.
