We love these. We like to use them in a tomatillo chicken chili. Prior to the pandemic we used fresh tomatillos which can be challenging to find in our area in normal times let alone a pandemic. We decided to try these and they taste great and now we have them in house whenever we need them. The hard part is finding them in stock.Note the cans we've gotten both times we've ordered tend to have some denting along the edges presumably done during transport (even though they're bounded together with plastic in a 1/2 box) but none leaked or affected the seal of the can.

I was thrilled to find these online at Walmart and with free delivery! I usually have to go to numerous stores to find them, so it was very convenient to have them come directly to my home. The only negative was that 38 of the 48 cans ordered were dented and damaged. Fortunately I was going to use them immediately or this would have been a real problem. Best canned tomatillos I've ever used!

I use these tomatillos as a base for pasta sauce because I am not allowed to eat red tomatoes due to their high potassium content. Fresh tomatillos are, of course, best, but they are bothersome to peel and sticky to wash. These are OK, combined with roasted peppers, carrots, red onions, jalapenos, and garlic. But be sure you start out with A LOT (I use four - five cans) - there is a great deal of liquid to drain away and they will cook down.

Having no idea what a tomatillo was before buying these I was unsure of using them as a main ingredient but I need not have worried, they seem a very versatile ingredient looking like a green tomato but having more of a pepper like feel and taste. I used them to make the chicken cooked in green salsa from ‘My Mexican Kitchen’, absolutely delicious, will definitely be buying them again!

I’ve used it few times to make salsa verde for tacos! Deliciou! And any leftover from tacos, tastes good drizzled over all kinds of foods! Salads, roasted meats, etc.

I have not purchased this yet. Is it one can for 16.95 or multiple cans for that price? I know this is a good product from past purchase at other stores.

Whole tomatillos are a fruit, closest in taste to a green unripe tomato. Minced finely with green chillies, coriander, shallots, salt, and a little lime juice, whole tomatillos make Mexico’s most popular sauce - salsa verde. Tomatillos are also known as fresadilla , Mexican green tomatoes, tomate verde and miltomate . These canned tomatillos are crammed with rich flavour, and can be used instead of fresh ones in recipes: simply eliminate the first step where the tomatillos are usually simmered or roasted. Each can contains approx 25 tomatillos. Ingredients: Tomatillos (70%), water, salt and citric acid. Once opened keep refrigerated in a covered glass or plastic container and use within 3 days.
