I was looking for another external hard drive for my Mac because I use time machine back up. The one that I had hooked up used a power supply. This one is small rugged and portable. This is the best purchase decision I made. I plan to buy more of these.

This case is attractive and fits the Raspberry pi 3+ like a glove. There are some negatives however. The screws supplied are apparently too long or the holes are not tapped deep enough and they bottomed out before getting snug. In addition, the screws go in hard and I stripped the head on two of them trying to get them to tighten. This is a big problem in my opinion. In addition, the GPIO pins are not accessible once the case id closed up and this will definitely hinder any experimentation/development efforts. This would be a great case for a Kodi application. Other than the screw issue, the case is good for a lot of applications as long as you are not trying to do active development w/ the IO.

I was looking to a drive for secure files and this is just what I needed. I purchased 2 because I never trust just one and the only drawback of this device is that they can't be hooked up at the same time to one computer but that is not a real big deal. I would highly recommend this drive to anyone who needs a secure area to keep files. Very easy to setup also.
I primarily use this drive to either transfer a video project to someone quickly, throw a project on it before leaving the office, or take it with me for a speedy backup of files for traveling on-location video shoots.Love that it has Thunderbolt AND USB 3.0 just in case I use a computer that only has USB inputs. My MacBook Pro has 500GB of storage, of which almost 400GB is presently occupied by music files. I have several hundred more CDs to rip into iTunes. I purchased this external drive to provide storage for my iTunes library. Transferring this library to the LaCie 2TB drive was fast and easy. While I intend to use it only for music files, it is clear to me that this drive will work equally well for virtually any mass storage purpose I can imagine.
I purchased this drive specifically to run virtual OS's from. Having a Thunderbolt connection is exactly what I wished for the USB 3 is a bonus. Has a fantastic connection to the computer with a cripple old, poor performing hard drive
This is just one of many LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt portable hard drives that I've purchased over the years and have never had one fail. They are fast, tough and efficient. I would highly recommend these hard drives.
The LaCie Rugged 2TB Thuderbolt USB 3.0 Drive is a great match for my tech kit because it is easy to use with all of my Mac computers. I need both Thunderbolt AND USB And this has both. It is even back compatible to USB 2.0. It is quiet and fast. The cable is even stored in the unit itself. It is dependable (so far.). I think it is a great buy and a good piece of tech.
I've used LaCie rugged drives for years and have always said good things about them, but this was my first Thunderbolt purchase. Setup was easy and it runs beautifully. Definitely worth paying extra for! And the fact that the cord wraps into the hard drive itself is an awesome feature.
