I was adding the 2022 version to my collection but they have stopped dating the bottles. Disappointing
A sweeter, richer take on the modern classic that is the 16-year-old.
I am a great fan of Lagavulin, especially the 16 year old. It has great depth of flavour and maturity to the palate. Last year, at the distillery, I bought a bottle of a 2018 distillery bottling and it was magnificent. However this 2022 distillers edition was somewhat disappointing. It (to my palate) lacked the depth and maturity of taste I’ve come to expect of Lagavulin. Perhaps it was the double maturation in oak casks that took out some of the peat flavour I love.I’m glad I bought it, and will enjoy drinking it - but it hasn’t quite lived up to my expectations.
I thoroughly enjoyed drinking this whisky lots of flavour and very full bodied. I fine whisky from the Lagavulin distillery
