This brand is my go to. After having four kids that I breastfeed (still breastfeeding the last one) this is the one I always go to. Others seem to be too oily. Or leave a taste that my babies didn't like. Stains the shirt/bra, messy in general. That was not the case with this gem. I had a tube in my car, by my bed, in the diaper bag, in my office desk literally one everywhere bc when you have dry cracked nipple especially in the beginning of your breastfeeding journey. The lactation nurse in the hospital recommended this while I was in pain breastfeeding and my baby was in NICU. Did it work? Yes! Did it heal the chapped skin and pain? Yes! However, is it safe for babies? NO! This stuff is poisonous for babies! They can get sick if they ingest too much so you have to keep wiping it off before EVERY FEEDING! Such an inconvenience and scary thought if you’re a new mom. I ended up just using 100% olive oil so it was safe for baby and didn’t have to keep wiping off.

This is great! Lather in a pea-sized amount after nursing, or just before jumping in the shower. (It not only soothes, it protects.) It's baby-safe made from 100% sheep lanolin (a natural oil from their wool), has no unpleasant odors, and comes in convenient travel-sized tubes. It is especially helpful in the first week or so of breastfeeding due to the baby learning how to breastfeed properly and the syrupy colostrum requiring more work for the baby to suckle in the first place. I primarily use this as chapstick to keep moisture in my lips. It is a very thick ointment that prevents water loss and helps smooth irritated skin. I found it a little thick for nipple cream when I was breastfeeding, but it’s a solid option and you may find you prefer the consistency. If you’re pregnant and plan to breastfeed, you can also ask the hospital for this when you deliver (ask for a lot of things!). I keep the small tubes in my purse as to-go chapsticks. Better than other products marketed as chapstick in my opinion.

Gets tge job done, but wouldn't repurchase

I bought this because I love the Lansinoh Organic Nipple Balm that comes in the glass jar and wanted something safer for travel…wouldn’t have to worry about breaking it and more hygienic in the tube. However, after using the balm, this is a hard product to like. Way thicker and greasier, harder to apply even when following directions to warm between fingers. I end up using so much more to cover the same area because it just won’t spread. The area is already sensitive so the last thing I want is to be trying to rub this on. In addition to having to be careful not stain my clothes, it leaves my baby’s face all greasy and sticky. Overall, just not easy to use. I highly recommend the balm, goes on so easy, the jar lasts much longer, so worth a couple bucks more.

Works But Use with Care

This ointment was so helpful as a new mom. It offers immediate relief and is safe for baby, which is key when they cluster feed. A little but goes a long way with this product. I did find that my little one did not care for the feel of this product, and it did cause issues with latching until I would wipe it off. Biggest con is the key ingredient of lanolin. If not careful, it will stain your clothes and those stains are nearly impossible to remove from some fabrics. Use with care.
