Le Creusets reputation as the best maker of cast iron casseroles is very welldeserved in my opinion. This is my third purchase of a similar item, one given as a gift. My oldest Le Creuset, very similar to this one, is over fifteen years old and despite quite regular use is as effective and useful as ever with some expected slight discolouring that doesnt detract from its performance. The Le Creuset casseroles as easy to use, whether on the hob or in the oven. Just as importantly, they are extremely easy to clean. Ive cooked lots of different things, Ive occasionally overcooked things that have stuck a little, but every time the casserole is easily cleaned. I find that the heat distribution is excellent as well, for consistent and even cooking. Id highly recommend ... I like how over the years the handle on the lid has changed to become metal, which should make it harder to break. I did once drop a lid and break a bit off the handle, but this should not be an issue with this latest Le Creuset casserole.A slight issue is that the listing at the time of writing lists the capacity at 8.4 litres, whereas the label on the box states 8.1 litres. A small difference but perhaps something to be aware of.

It sits on the stove like a warm red glowing invitation to cook up something delicious. So I did just that immediately! Such a yummy pot of browned rich gravied casserole all cooked perfectly at once and made so easy in one pot. Then we ate from it and then I would have put the pot’s leftovers into the fridge but there were none! The pot was so easy to clean. Nothing stuck on it and it was into the dishwasher with it and then straight back onto my stovetop to sit and wait until my next delicious venture with it. So bright and beautiful to look at and so incredibly easy and fail proof to use-beginning to end. A delightful pot to serve from as well. I now aim to buy a skillet style next. It is a gourmet’s delight or an everyday wonder.Anne 🤸🏾♀️😀

This I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. That comes with a price though hence one star off...they are expensive! But back to the product... the first tip I have, is to go for a darker shade rather than a lighter shade, as they can gather tiny little splat marks over the years. Easy to clean regardless of colour but darker in hindsight would be my choice. If taking one of the trend colours these seem to exist for ca. two - three years so stock up accessories in matching shade whilst you ... Thoroughly enjoy LeCreuset cookware. Would’ve been extremely nice learning about them much sooner in life, no doubt. Nonetheless, utilize the cookware as often as possible. Created what I’m calling a Chicken Stumbo the other night which turned out beyond expectation in this vessel. A great mandolin makes a world of difference. Wanted au gratin cut potatoes with chicken straight out the oven, but with no roasted or pan stuck potatoes. Mixed two cans Campbell’s Cream of Celery with tomato sauce containing basil, garlic and oregano. Added sour cream, two soup cans of water, chopped onions, celery, bell pepper, shallots, portobello mushrooms, Pico de Gallo, fresh garlic, cilantro, Goya seasoning, S&P, and filet gumbo all nicely whisked together. Loaded in the five freshly cut potatoes with five skinless/boneless chicken pieces. Covered and baked 90 mins at 375F, stirring once every 30 minutes. As it cooked, the house smelled indescribably delicious. Voila! Once finished, it smelled more incredible; looking and tasting like a stewed gumbo…absolutely delish…without the traditional artery clogging roux. Everything was perfectly cooked fork tender and juicy. Allelu!!!
This was such a disappointing purchase for me. I purchased it mainly to make arroz con gandules and after the first use the stains from the color of the rice would not come off. It looked as if I didn’t clean it no matter how much I tried so felt uncomfortable returning as it was hard to explain why the food coloring wouldn’t come off. Tried to use agin with the staining and now the outside of the rice turned black as that black from the pot is coming off onto the food. Never thought I’d have to throw a cast iron pot like this away. I thought a purchase like this would last for years. Not sure if I just got a defective one but disappointing now the less.
Have had this Dutch Oven since January and I can't say how happy I am that I purchased it-I use it a LOT. As David V. refers to the GBD (golden brown deliciousness) I enjoy it every time that I use this, especially browning meat after sautéing onions and red bell peppers. Amazed at how well it cooks rice. Perfect for the winter months-but the deliciousness isn't stopping there! I'm going to use it this Summer for steaming clams, lobster and our delicious local sweet corn. And although I'm in New England, I spent some time in the "Low Country" so a Low Country Boil will also be on the menu.Bought the Cerise (cherry) color and it matches my kitchen perfectly. Easy pay sealed the deal during the holiday season! On the last payment now-that went by fast...Highly ... I have two other Le Creuset casseroles, one slightly larger and the other the same size, which we had as a wedding present 37 years ago, and so needed replacing. This one is the perfect size for four people and fits perfectly into the AGA; its really useful being able to fry the ingredients and then cook them in the same pan on top or inside the AGA but before I had a gas cooker and used it worked equally well with that. The pan is smart looking, so you can serve the food at the table from the dish.
I have waited a long time to start my own Le Creuset collection. I love to cook, and I've always heard such great things about the Le Creuset brand. However, they are quite pricey! I finally decided to splurge on the 5.5 Round Dutch Oven - and I am so glad I did! I've made stuffed peppers, marinara sauce and a pot of soup so far. It warms up quickly and cooks so evenly - its amazing. On top of everything, clean-up is a joy. It just wipes clean. I purchased the Meringue color and it is gorgeous! My biggest decision now is whether to collect all the same color - or mix them up! Either way, my collection will definitely be growing.
Such a big ticket item for a pot, it took me 5 years of saying ?you don?t really ?need? this to, ?You do bake a lot of artisanal breads and this would be perfect size for that and a whole lot more?. I call it my one pot wonder. The color is lovely and the piece is heirloom quality. Perfect size for stock and bread baking; also found deep enough to sous vide a couple tenderloin steaks! Elevates any dish cooked in it.
I got one of these as a wedding gift almost 20 years ago from a John Lewis wedding gift list service. Although the price seems a lot for a casserole dish, the quality of these pots is incredible and only eclipsed by the amazing customer support I have received from Le Creuset. After being used almost daily for so many years we noticed some of the enamel was wearing away inside the pot. I emailed the Le Creuset UK helpline and attached photos of the pot. They were incredibly helpful and offered to send out a free replacement which arrived a few days later. TBH I thought 20 years of service was a good innings but Le Creuset really mean it when they guarantee these things for life.
