I have dreamed of one of these pots for decades, and a friend sent me one as a gift in January. I haven't used another pot or pan since then, save a cookie sheet. The Dutch
oven is beautiful, for starters, a lovely blue that lives on my hob 24/7. It's heavy, but not oppressively so. I plate everything in the kitchen and serve the plates, so I'm not
overly fussed about moving it about. If you have weak wrists and need to carry the pot a lot, this may not work for you. On to the pot itself. It cooks like a dream, and the

Soups, braises, one pot meals, they all go in here and they all come out a dream. Frankly, I've gotten rid of everything but a nonstick fry pan for eggs, a lasagna pan, and a saucier for rice, grains, or other accompaniments. It's a multitasker and a workhorse. Considering it comes from a company that originally made cannons, it's no wonder this thing is a tank in the kitchen.... Show more

I've used this cooking vessel a couple of times a week for years now and it is still in just as great shape as it was the day I received it. I use this French (aka Dutch) Oven for soups, stews, pot roast, chili, Sunday gravy, etc. It is an absolute workhorse that holds heat well and distributes it evenly. The only thing that I do not use it for is for baking bread. I suspect that is what caused the enamel to chip and crack on the Lodge dutch oven that I had. I use a plain (and much less expensive) unenameled cast iron Lodge round oven for that purpose. The Le Creuset model is also pretty enough to put directly on the table to allow others to serve themselves. I also keep it out on the stovetop when it is clean and not in use because, well, it is gorgeous and also to help save space in the cabinets. I highly recommend it. It is expensive but it will last a lifetime and beyond.... Show more

A friend for life, ethically sourced
8 February 2022
This I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. That comes with a price though hence one star off...they are expensive! But back to the product... the first tip I have, is to go for a darker shade rather than a lighter shade, as they can gather tiny little splat marks over the years. Easy to clean regardless of colour but darker in hindsight would be my choice. If taking one of the trend colours these seem to exist for ca. two - three years so stock up accessories in matching shade whilst you ... MoreThis I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. BEWARE
20 September 2023
I recently purchased a brand new Le Creuset pot to go on our new induction stove. Despite the fact that the Le Creuset website clearly states that their enameled pots can be used on induction, the pot has scratched the glass top of our brand new stove HORRIBLY. Beware when using these products on a glass cook surface. We have owned many Le Creuset products over the years including cast iron enamel and stoneware and have never had these issues in the past. I don't know what has changed with the make of the product, or if this was a one time defect, but we are very upset.... Show more

Great product and a fair price
29 December 2022
I used my new cast iron-covered baking pan to bake artisan bread. The results were beyond my expectations. The bread was delicious and browned to perfection. The heat distribution was even and it was easy to clean. I highly recommend this product and feel it was worth the price I paid. Sometimes you have to pay a little more for a quality product. Being frugal can sometimes result in disappointment. I was very pleased with it and glad I made the purchase.... Show more

My first Dutch oven
28 October 2023
This was my first dutch oven purchased ever in my life. The reason why I purchased was I wanted to cook something nice and warm like beef bourguignon for my mother-in-law who was going to visit us in two days. So, I decided to take subway all the way to downtown in the heavy rain to Macy’s. Then I bought good wine and ingredients and cooked beef bourguignon one day before her arrival. Cooking was very smooth. Indeed only after two hours in the oven, meat got so tender. However, sadly, my mom-in-law disliked my beef bourguignon. So my first Dutch oven experience ended up with a bit of negative emotion. However, I have to acknowledge that my bother-in-law paid me a good compliment. Next, I made borscht and no-knead bread and those were super successful. Overall, I am ... MoreThis was my first dutch oven purchased ever in my life. Next, I made borscht and no-knead bread and those were super successful. Overall, I am happy with this Dutch oven. One little con was that the edge of the lid chipped a bit when I dropped it from only a couple of inches above. Also, the edge of the lid was not fully covered with enamel so you have to dry it completely otherwise it gets rusted. I would like to know whether other equivalent brands have this issue.... Very large great pot, Terrible WS Shipping/Packing
6 July 2023
The pot is wonderful. Very big. Nice weight, beautiful finish. The yellow is much nicer in person. Full cooking surface for a wide range of foods. Will be a nice addition to our collection. The reason for losing a star was due to the shipping. Both pots ordered were put in a larger outer box with no padding. The result was both of our Le Creuset boxes (the orange ones that we use to store when not in use) were badly crushed. This is very unlike WS in regards to shipping. They usually wrap each box in bubble wrap, and then put in a large outer box with no damage. The outer box was way too large, and the top of it was completely crushed in, causing damage to both Le Creuset boxes. When I called WS, they said i could return (one of the pots was no longer available) or ... MoreThe pot is wonderful. Very big. Nice weight, beautiful finish. The yellow is much nicer in person. Waited Five Years
24 November 2021
Don't be like me and wait five years to spend the money on this amazing piece - just do it. I've gotten so much joy out of making my own bread, experimenting with new recipes, making soups and stews where the individual ingredients actually stand out because the pot cooked them so well. Also, don't be like me and burn your pot.....yeah.... I burnt the pot. If you do, just fill the pot with water and add baking soda. Let simmer for 8 to 10 minutes - she'll be brand new again. I bought the 7 1\4 quart size oven in Nectar from my local Williams Sonoma store. The yellow is gorgeous and was a big factor in my decision to buy. I don't recall seeing it before now? Wish they had the 9 1\2 quart size in that color. Totally worth the money and a lovely experience in using it.... Show more

Why didn’t I buy this years ago?
26 September 2023
I wish I had bought this Dutch oven first. Cleans like a dream, stove to oven with no issue at all. The weight was a big factor in my decision to purchase. I had a staub Dutch oven that was just too heavy to lift. This is heavy, but about 6 pounds lighter than my old staub Dutch oven and far easier to clean. From this Dutch oven’s performance, I am looking at smaller Dutch ovens to handle daily cooking (only my husband and I). Love this and wish I had purchased years ago. You cannot go wrong with this Le Crueset Dutch oven.... Show more
