Head this about a month now after my old Cambridge finally gave up the ghost. A friend sent me the link and I fell in love immediately. But it's not only a good-looker, sounds fantastic too. Can't believe the difference hearing my old jazz and soul records through this!

Brought a few weeks ago. Spec wise amp is good, warm and punchy, excellent analog and digital inputs. Sounds good straight out of the box, sounds even better after a few days constant use.The 45w per channel powers my bookshelf speakers nicely, could maybe do with s few more watts if powering larger speakers, this is why i have rated as 4 out of 5 stars. Also it would have been great if the USB option was both input and output, rather than just input. DA to AD conversion is very good, same chips as some MOTU professional audio interfaces, which was a important aspect for me.Best looking amp at this price point, not the most important thing but was a factor for me, a nice looking unit to compliment vintage Celestion Ditton speakers in a room full of wooden ... Bought this amp a couple of months ago, and now that it's bedded in, I'm delighted with it.Lovely rich warm sound which is right up my personal alley and running a pair of Q Acoustic 3020i's with it & it all sounds fantastic. The solid walnut design also looks really great in our living room (having never been a fan of stacks of black & silver boxes) & my grandfather had the original Stereo 30 in his music room, so it's a lovely reminder of him too!As ever, exceptional service from Rosie & the crew at the Brighton branch!

I bought the Leak 130 this month. It has the connectivity I need and the sound I just love. Having had a Leak in the 70s, just love the look of it as well, beautifully built. Short on funds I approached Richer Sounds, they made it so easy to arrange a 6 month interest free and they sent it to me within 48 hours of my initial enquiry, brilliant
In the mid 80's I was the proud owner of a NAD 3130 which has served me well until just recently (30+ years!) but recently it developed a bit of background hum. I enquired about having it 're-cappped' but given the estimated cost and lead time I reluctantly decided to replace it....Unimpressed by the brash sound of cheap(ish) modern amps I jumped at the option of a retro styled Leak 130 Teak model - and I absolutely love it, the depth and quality of the sound. The Class A/B design is much warmer to my ears than the bright and brittle Class D that so many modern amps use.I may be nostalgic, but I'm happy with my new lovely amp :-)
I bought this several weeks ago and I'm absolutely delighted with the way it looks, sounds and works with my other components, namely the Pro-Ject T1 and Dali Oberon 1 monitors. It is a beautifully crafted unit and feels solid and well made and despite the retro look, has modern digital related capabilities. Worth every penny. Thank you Richer Sounds for your excellent service too, ordered on standard delivery yet received 2 days afterwards.
Although downloaded music has been a convenient way of listening to music on the go, I had almost forgotten what music really sounds like when you sit down and really listen. The Leak Stereo is beautifully made, feels at home, and sounds absolutely wonderful. Warm and deep in tone as well as clear, crisp and defined. It can take you anywhere.
Just had the Leak Stereo 130 amp from Richer Sounds, cut to the chase it’s being returned for an exchange. Excellent customer service from Richer Sounds as usual.A quick warning for anyone purchasing this. If you find the remote not doing anything apart from going to stand by or mute. Look at the two buttons at the bottom of the remote labelled device. I thought they were there to switch source or device. No they control what device the remote is controlling! See the small print in the manual.Playing Beethoven's piano sonatas I noticed an extra note appearing from time to time. I traced that to the ventilation top plate ringing like a bell on certain notes. I wasn’t listening at very loud volumes either. On choral music there was a wonderful sense of air around ... I traced that to the ventilation top plate ringing like a bell on certain notes. I wasn’t listening at very loud volumes either. On choral music there was a wonderful sense of air around the performers almost holographic, just ‘more’ as my wife said. But if you’re looking for some lovely fruity bass guitar sounds on Dark side of the moon forget it. Strangely you could feel the presence of studio air con on some recordings. Real sub bass and barely audible that I’ve never heard before.Blue tooth. Superb quality from Tidal on my old Moto G6 smart phone. Never used Bluetooth and didn’t realise it could sound so good. A nice feature was that the remote could pause and jump tracks from the phone.Tried the phono stage on an old Trio KD1033 and AT95E cartridge. A fantastic sense of space and detail but not at the expense of added surface noise. Probably the best I’ve every heard from vinyl. I use a Rega phono stage or direct into my amp’s internal phono amp usually. The same was true for the headphone output. Using my old beat up pair of £20 Sennheiser closed back phones. It was like I wasn’t wearing them. I’ve used head phones for years at work and at home and I’ve never heard anything like it.The amp runs quite warm, surprisingly so on my efficient 90dB/W Monitor Audio Bronze 5’s. Under the same conditions my Onkyo A9010 runs stone cold. Mind you it has a heat sink that is so big that I’d doubt it would fit in the Leak Amp’s case!I fed the amp either from the co ax digital output from a Cambridge Streamagic 6 or directly from the audio output from the Cambridge. Couldn’t hear a difference. I tried Rock, Classical, Choral, Radio , Broadcast TV and yes lovely detailed sound but where’s that bass? For the pedantic, yes I did double check speaker polarity (phase).
Now that my Leak amplifier and CD transport have been properly broken in, my honest evaluation is that care should be taken to test the amplifier with different speakers to determine which ones they drive the best. My Leak speakers from 1967 seem to love my Leak amp and CD transport. Albeit they must be driven by 45% volume to satisfy me. Klipsch speakers, regardless of tower or bookshelf, will hit you in the gut with less volume. Wharfdales also seem to sing. I'm very satisfied with the audiophile quality I get from the Leak system, and have no regrets.
Finally sorted my set up playing vinyl(+ added Bluetooth)It’s a gorgeous sound in my opinion. Has made playing my records(again) really exciting and haven’t watched tv or stared at my phone since I got it. Just want to listen to music. The Bluetooth for Spotify etc is just as impressiveIt also looks very stylish and fits in with any home decor as opposed to jarringI’m glad I spent a bit more than I intended as it’s totally worth it. And on reflection it’s a great price because it actually delivers what I was aiming for.
