Leatherman Micra (Stainless Steel)

This is a terrific device for light duty use. The standout feature is the usable scissors, unlike those teeny little Swiss Army knife thingies. It's amazingly useful around the house or office. The other tools are also excellent. I've been using one for I don't know how long. The only trouble is that they disappear pretty easily, which is why I'm here buying another. I have a full size Leatherman, which is a great device, but I rarely use it because it's just too big to carry around every day.I bought a similar product from a competitor once. The scissors and file were next to useless, and the lockback mechanism for the knife broke within a year.Retailers aren't carrying these anymore. The Micra is so small you hardly know you are carrying it. That said, two of the tools see more use on my Micra than the others, namely, the small screwdriver perfect for eyeglasses and other tiny screws. Everything today seems to have micro screws in it. The best part, however is the nail file. The nail file is the best there is. I don't know why it isn't included on more tools. It files fast and leaves your nails finished, unlike some of the other files which leave your nails like a ripsaw.

I have always heard that Leatherman was the brand to get for multitools. I just received my first one (a Micra) and although overall it seems well built, the scissors are a total fail and useless. This is because the rivet used to hold the two halfs together isn't anywhere near tight enough. The two halves of the tool wobble at that pivot point, rendering the scissors useless, because their cutting edges don't touch each other. I realize the Micra is probably the low end of the product line, but regardless, I expected much better construction that this.
