I used to carry a Buck 110 everyday. A friend has a Wingman and uses it daily. The pocket clip doesn’t snag, and it’s just short enough to not jab the thigh. 4th year now, I use it numerous times a day, from clipping threads and finger nails, coring an apple or pear, to soldering electronics, bending an R-Clip, tightening a hose clamp, scraping rust, measuring an acorn nut size, even cracking pecans. Hasn’t ben sharpened in more than a year. All joints are solidly tight. Looks brand new. Disassembles and reassembly is easy; cleans really easy with WD40. Gonna gift one to each of my three sons this Christmas.

Sadly it broke recently so I went to my Home Depot and looked at what they had. They don’t carry the wingman anymore in store it looks like so I got this Rev(because it looks almost identical). I took it out of the box and knew immediately it was going back. It’s not smooth. It is visibly waaaay less quality than the wingman and you can feel it too. The pliers don’t have the spring back and it has no scissors. My wingman was on special when I bought it. It was like $30 for that and another smaller multi tool. I didn’t know that it was $60 alone now. It’s totally worth it. I've been carrying a Leatherman of one style or another for well over 35 years. I work with my hands so I find it to be indispensable. My current preference is the Rev, fairly comfortable when applying pressure to the handle. I've also carried the original design, the Wave, and the Kick, at various times. there's been others, although the model names escape me at the moment. They've all been very high quality and well worth the money.

This series you have the Rev (this product), the Wingman (adds scissors and combo straight-serrated edge blade) and the Sidekick (ditches package cutter, adds dedicated serrated blade and saw). HD doesn't offer the latter two in my store, and coming off my 2nd broken Skeletool I needed a replacement and choose the Rev. Key selling point for me in Multi-tools is the pocket clip as for me this is EDC (everyday carry) and I can't do that effectively with a belt pouch/sheath. Now for the Rev itself; it's designed to be the least expensive option in the series, by about $5 give or take from the Wingman and $15 from the Sidekick. What KILLS me about the Rev is that one handed opening of the knife (what I use most) is awkward at best as they moved the cutout forward so getting at it with your thumb is no longer natural as it is with the Wingman and Sidekick (and darn near every other blade from Leatherman), forcing me to open half way with my thumb safely on the blade side, and the last half with my thumb actually on the blade. It's ridiculous to be frank. Why in the world would you have changed this? From a usability standpoint this one was a bummer. Now the tools themselves are very, very good as with most Leathermans, but the other large omission was the spring loaded pliers; on the Rev they are manual vs. the Sidekick and Wingman have spring-loaded opening to make pliers easier to use. That one isn't a killer, but certainly would have been nice to have. The "Package Cutter/Opener" - come on Leatherman this is a wasted slot if you ask me, should have been an awl or something else less redundant. If I want to open a package I will use the knife blade instead of opening the butterfly and getting the package cutter. The only time I see this one as useful is if opening packages is a large part of your day and you want to save your blade/be safer, but for your average consumer, they're using the knife plain and simple. Lastly the Belt Clip itself (my primary reason for buying this one other than the fact it was on the shelf); it's LOOSE and rattles. From store to home it had loosened so much that I could turn the allen head bolt by hand. Not good. Some blue Loctite and it's all good now, but the blade opening is now extremely tight exacerbating the aforementioned problems with opening it in general. I choose clip stability over opening resistance, but you could do it the other way around I suppose, just comes down to how much you tighten it.All in all I would recommend this product if it was your only choice. If not, and you want to be in the relative same budget, get a Wingman! If your budget can go up I'd say get a Wave and a Pocket Clip add-on if you can deal with the weight.
First off this is my first proper multitool. Always carried a pocket knife but wanted more. I've had the more expensive leathermans in my hands and there is no comparison. The body is stamped the pliers are silly tight, the flat head is too big to fit any normal flat head screw, thankfully the file end makes a better flat head then the flat head. I spent a good 45 minutes filing all the edges down to round them over and it make it feel better in hand. Ok, all of that out the way it's tough, done well in my pocket for a year now even laying in the snow, dropping it, etc. Far more handy then a pocket knife and it does come with the standard Leatherman warranty. I'll go up to the 100 range next time but I really wanted one with a pocket clip.
Excellent basic multitool for entry level. The knife is sharp. The oner minor issue is one side is tighter than the other. I contacted leatherman in the US directly and they said that's normal on a small tool like the rev. The package opener is also damn sharp and it has a little loop for a lanyard/key ring. It has most of the tools you'll need if you're not a handy man. 5 stars. Do buy this one. Oh it also has a pocket clip so no need for a bulky sheet.

A better place would be at the end of the smaller handle, which fits against the base of your thumb and stays in the same place with respect to your wrist while using the pliers.Second, the pocket clip isn't detachable/swappable. It's uncomfortable for left-handed use.Third, the Rev feels needlessly heavy. It'd get carried around more if it were less uncomfortable in the pocket and less weight in the backpack. That apparently did not stop Leatherman from trying to shatter boundaries and snub convention with this particular offering. When you're really trying to bear down and get a grip on life, the jaunty little curved grips that some engineer though would be a good idea send your hand on a wonderful adventure to the "Land of No Leverage". Add to that the sharp interior edges of the grip, and you have a recipe for disaster. Buy stock in Band-Aid before use! To me. the biggest selling point is the pocket clip. Being a little lighter and not have to strap on a carry pouch is huge. I don't know how I got by before without a package opener! Not sure how many times I almost cut myself opening a purchase wrapped in hard plastic using a knife blade. The Rev is the tool I've been waiting for! Thank you Leatherman!!
