I've had my sidekick for nearly 10 years now and it has served me faithfully ever since. It has lived in my pocket every single day since the day I bought it, and even with almost no maintenance it still operates perfectly. The spring assisted pliers makes using them much easier, the blade is still reasonably sharp even after this long, and the size and feel of it is absolutely perfect. I've never had a single complaint, and likely will never have one for years to come. A spectacular tool in every way.

I've been using the leatherman sidekick for the last 5 months or so it's been in my pocket pretty much everyday. Working on a construction site minimum 5 days a week. It's been fishing camping used to help me fix my car all sorts of handy little things. It's never broken it's not rusty everything still works had to sharpen the knife and I wash it and put a small amount of oil on it once a month. It might be a cheaper leatherman but it's a high quality product very happy with mine.

Good weight, good components. Even the plier tool words as combination pliers, long-nose plyers, snips and wire strippers. The clip works great, thing's got a good heft, saw's perfectly fine for its size in terms of some quick cuts in pine. If I could change anything, I'd love a multi-bit driver, but for the price point, I couldn't be happier. I've owned knock-offs all my life, but this thing makes it clear to me that genuine leatherman is in a league of its own.

No matter the occasion or what I'm wearing from a suit to casual jeans I'll find a place or pocket for it. Its rather aggressive belt clip provides a secure fastening point for belt, pocket or boot. When purchased my Sidekick also included a Carabiner and a tough as nails Nylon type belt sheath which provides more carrying options. Within the Sidekick tools is a lanyard ring that neatly tucks out of the way when not in use. It's a tight fit and the blade is Holly Mother sharp, closing can be done resting the tool in the palm of your hand use your thumb nail to unlock the blade and index finger to close it. The saw blade is wicked aggressive and opens and locks the same way as the blade. I didn't "think" I'd have much use for the saw but have since changed my mind after it's tackled pretty much everything from drywall to plastic conduit ;-)Opening the Sidekick and folding out the spring loaded needle nose pliers this tool really comes into it's own and the most used of all the tools, I've cut copper wire, stripped insulator off of braided wire, crimped insulator connectors and a whole host of other "light" duty chores. To me the pliers are the most indispensable of tools for my Sidekick. Looking further into the cluster of tools neatly encased within the handle are sturdy screw drivers serrated knife, file (I've used this to file a broken fingernail) which has a ruler on the opposite side and a can/bottle opener. These tools nestled in the handles don't actually have a line lock the need to be deployed using a thumbnail and the tool closed up leaving the selected tool for example the Phillips screw driver bit extended from the Sidekick handle it's as ridged and secure as a normal stubby screwdriver same goes for the other tools in the cluster. Yeah, nice tool, looks good, feels good in your hand AND I've snuck it in the dishwasher a few times and then wiped it down with light machine oil.
This model is light and very easy to carry around. It is my go to knife. I never leave on a backpacking trip without a multi tool. I love the size and weight of this one. It has a quick draw and lock for both the knife and saw. Super convenient for cutting firewood and food prep camping.I seem to use this multi tool for everything!It’s great for at home or in the car as well. I regularly use the various screwdrivers.I just came back from a canoe trip and used it to shape fishing hooks, cut lines, and basically hold onto things so my other hand can be free.The only thing missing in this model is scissors. So if that a deal breaker for you, check another model. Most often, it’s a simple straight blade locking pocket knife, easy to access and easy to sharpen. Around the house, it’s the Phillips head screwdriver you need to access those dead batteries. This is an amazing knife it's incredibly useful I haven't even had this for a week. My grandparents got me this knife for Christmas, and I have had a good use for all the tools except the saw and bottle/can opener. All the tools are very well made the blades are super sharp the saw is terrifying the pliers are great quality. This is a great go to knife, it's light small and has the perfect tools for anywhere, compared to the Surge which is the one I need for my jobs (mowing and farmhand) this is better for every day activities. This is the perfect sidekick ;) for everyday usage from unscrewing the screws for a hook to even just cutting cardboard. I love this knife the tools are all great quality. I may eventually put another review in the coming months.
The handles are too wide apart when opened and squeezed and they are even farther apart when turning a larger screw (for example). There is no traction on the handles and my hand just slides down towards the pliers head. When your hands are sweaty, forget about using this thing. Not good. Not a well thought out design. The assortment of components inside is ok but the handles prevent this multitool pliers to be of any serious use. The price has doubled also. Not worth it. Gerber mp600 is much better.
I have had this for awhile now and love it!! I only wish it had scissors and the pocket clip could be removed. other than that I think this is a great product! it works well and gets the job done. I did try to take the pocket clip off broke the bit I used (it's a cheap bit btw) and clip is loose and the blade is hard to open. but I was able to send it in for repair. they were quick to respond and I sent it in and they are working on it as I type this. love the customer service! the site is easy to use and helpful! I love the quality of Leatherman and they're customer support service!!
