Batteries (lots of them) not included !!! why do manufacturers still do that ??? Lego’s superior creativity, packaging, build instructions and presentation wind hands down otherwise. This was bought for train-mad grandson’s 6th birthday so he needed lots of support to get the train built but coped very well with track & accessories. It will obviously last a good length of time until he is ready for 00 sets.Smyths ordering and delivery service is always excellent - clear, straightforward and very prompt. Thank you

Excellent train. The passenger and dining cars are very feature rich with lots of play options for kids. Despite the size of the set, it builds quickly and is very enjoyable. The length of each of the cars makes for a very long train overall. Low slung fast looking and the brick-built arrow on the engine is sick. The green glow from the rear of the running locomotive is a awesome touch in the dark. Love the lights and the finish, this is a great addition to the trains from Lego.

This lego train is next level! I bought it for my grandson's birthday, and it delivers. If it's your first lego train set, I would buy an extra set of train tracks. It's not necessary but just gave that additional track because it can get some speed up. The additional tracks that are already for sale do fit this train set. This train set is definitely a 10/10.

The Lego City Express Passenger Train is a thrilling addition to the Lego City collection. Its sleek design and smooth functioning make it a joy to play with. The detailed passenger carriages and realistic train station provide endless imaginative play possibilities. A must-have for Lego train enthusiasts!
It took 40 years but I bought my first Lego train and WOW I caught a bug and bought the Fright set as well. My only gripe with Lego with this set is not enough decals. And the decal stickers supplied are 'first time, best use' meaning you need to be spot of lining these stickers up because if you peel it back to fix it they instantly go from clear to cloudy. Honestly printing them on would have been better. But aside from that what a NOICE set! Excellent quality Lego plastics, no mould defects, perfect straight lines. The building manual was easy to follow in my hands plus the online manual content was A+ The shipping from BigW was hard to track, my parcel status remained 'picking item' from its DC in NSW until the very moment it was in my hands. Great train set , my son asked for this for Christmas and has been playing with it since Christmas Day.The only present he has played with persistently, worth the buy also fun to build and watch drive around on the track.Able to buy more track separately to extend the length of the set.Just adding batteries can be a bit annoying, would have preferred if it could be charged.
Growing up I always enjoyed a good trainset and when I saw this product over the christmas period I was intrigued. We purchased the trainset as a present for our children 5 and 7 and we had great enjoyment building this up and getting it running. I did however forget to buy batteries and at the time of purchase didn't realise but you can download an app and control from the phone..awesome!Personally I think Train to track ratio could be better considering how quick this thing goes you've no sooner done a lap of the track so feel there could have been a bundle deal or something to encourage the purchase and avoid disappointment however you can buy add-ons which can be costly as one addon isn't enough and i had to buy two just to make the track work.Ive come to ... MoreGrowing up I always enjoyed a good trainset and when I saw this product over the christmas period I was intrigued. I'm writing this at point of realising I have no days to return the product to Very. Whilst taking these pictures its just fallen more and more apart. I guess i'll be writing a letter to Lego! The product is still useable via bluetooth but for me is only workaround and not a solution.
Super large passenger train, new sleek design. Awesome minifigures including girl with laptop, bike rider with pink/purple bike and wheelchair which fit on the trains really well. Goes really well with a MOC/custom rear carriage which is available on eBay. Lighting kit makes this a beautiful train.
Great Lego. This is the best Lego's I ever bought. My eight years old son had a great time making it and now enjoing playing it for the last 10 days. Before for any legos we have bought he used to play for only 2-3 days after making it but this time its not enough yet. The train is express train with less consumption of batteries.
The motor isn't super noisy but does make *some* noise if this is a concern. The battery pack is placed into the train in a way that you can turn it off and on without needing to open the train up and you can change the batteries without needing to dismantle everything. If you use a mobile app you do not need as many batteries. It has multiple speeds and can go backwards.I love that this has a wheelchair user, LEGO is great at disabled representation and diversity.
