LEGO City Family House Set 60291

This is such a great LEGO set! My son and I had an absolute blast putting this together. He’s 8 years old and I didn’t not feel this was too challenging for him. He assembled most of the set while I read the instructions to him. I love the road plates and that there are other sets in the series that allow them to connect together. There are so many details in the set that make it awesome. The car wash actually has little brushes that move on arms when you push a car through. I love the little recycling bins and there are little bottles you can put in them. The price point is a little high for me, but I understand LEGO sets can be expensive. It took a couple hours to assemble but we took many breaks in between. I think overall it is a great set and I look foreword to ... MoreThis is such a great LEGO set! My kids, age 12 and 10, and wanted this set. They occasionally play with legos. They are not super lego fans, but like them and their interest goes in waves as their primary interests lie elsewhere. They enjoy deep imaginary play though, and this set is fun for all kinds of scenarios. My daughter is smitten with the baby. That baby was a huge factor in her wanting this set. My question is though, where are the mini figs of color? So the yellow is supposed to represent all people ( I read that somewhere)? Sorry Lego, it’s 2021 and that doesn’t cut it. My daughter has brown skin and my son has white skin. They should each see themselves and those different from them represented. If you can make character sets with mini figs that are the same color as the movie character, you can create diversity within your general mini figs population. I would also say, this set is a bit pricey. I see it as an $80-ish dollar set. It does have some fun unique pieces and that baby... In my daughters opinion, that tiny baby is worth the higher price!

LEGO's new city themed sets are a disappointment. The road pieces don't match with the road baseplates that LEGO has been selling for years. The cost continues to rise and this one just isn't worth it. I will say that the car wash is pretty cool. The buildings themselves aren't back, but the way everything is packaged and the price just isn't worth it. Hopefully LEGO can do better with its city products.
