Since regular LEGOs are too small for toddlers, we started our son off with duplos. While you don't get many duplos in the box, the nice thing is, you can easily add to your collection. Putting these colorful blocks together and building with them is fun for both parent and child. They are large enough that they don't pose a chocking hazard. We also use the blocks as a learning tool, colors, numbers, sorting, etc. My son loves to knock over whatever we have built, he thinks it is a hoot! Env: developmentBoys and girls alike. Every child should have a tub of Duplos! I can not think of a better toy for a toddler to build creativity and keep a little one entertained for hours! Duplos are durable, easy to clean, and you can always buy new sets to build your collection. There are a few toys that I will NEVER get rid of, and one of those if Duplo. I keep all our Duplos in a big tub, and when friends stop by with their children, I get them out. Once you show a child how they can build towers and buildings with Duplos, the fun begins! I think the zoo Duplos are my favorite. I love the alligators and the elephants, in particular. My kids spent hours building fences out of Duplos for their Duplo animals. Env: developmentI was so happy to find LEGO Duplo's. I had previously bought the original Lego's for my children but they got a bit frustrated when they couldn't put certain things together. Lego Duplo's larger size is great. My kids can now build things with ease and they have so much fun playing with these. The selection of Lego Duplo sets isn't as big as the regular Lego's but there is more than enough sets for my kids and we still haven't even bought them all yet. I love seeing my kids get so creative with what they build. I would definitely recommend these to anyone with small children.Env: development

Env: developmentThis is a really great set for a young toddler who is too young for the regular Lego toys. The problem with Legos is that they are too small and a child may put it in his or her mouth (high possibility) and then intentionally or unintentionally swallow it. You do NOT want this situation happening, even with adult supervision. So, you opt for Lego's other brand line, Duplo. Duplo is essentially for those who do not want any risk in swallowing. The blocks are much larger and cannot be swallowed. Still, as with all things, I recommend adult supervision at ALL times. This is a great toy as they follow the same stacking and synergy traits of the regular Lego system. If you love Legos and want to share the love with your child, Duplo is a step in the right direction. Later on, you can share the regular Legos as well.Env: development
Env: developmentI worked in early childhood education for over thirty years and was estatic when Lego came out with Duplo. The younger children were always interested in Lego. However, the small pieces posed choking hazards. These Duplo are safe for all ages and we introduced them as soon as the children could hold them. The toys last for years and years even when thrown into the dishwasher for sanitizing and cleaning. So when my grandson was born, I introduced them to him before he was a year old. At three years of age, he was diagnosed with autism and one of his disabilities was his fine motor skills. The colors are vibrant, they clean easily and encourage explorations of their use.Env: development
Env: developmentDuplos are a great way to introduce a younger child to building blocks. They encourage hand-eye coordiation, creativity, spacial awareness and problem solving. They are easy for little hands to put together and take apart, which isn't true for all of the other kiddie building blocks. They are sturdy and will last a lifetime. My son is two years old and absolutely loves his duplos. He plays with them everyday. Despite the mess, it was well worth the investment. One difficulty my tow year old had was trying to stack one tower (since that's all his hands could hold) and it would get too high for him to stack any more on top. I would highly recommend getting a large base plate - it solved that problem for us. I would highly recommend getting a large base plate - it solved that problem for us. My son is now able to build a conglomeration of little towers, and it has led to alot less frustration for him. Duplos are durable, and they can withstand ALOT of abuse. My son regularly walks across his creations. One con is that they can be on the expensive side. I was tempted to buy some less pricey versions, but I'm glad that I stuck with the original Lego brand - they are made of a more durable and heavy duty plastic, and the towers/creations stay together better while still being easy to take apart.Env: development
This was bought for a two year old granddaughter. She already had mega blocks and Lego Duplo is good for advancing her construction skills. The pieces are not too small for going in mouths and are easy to construct. The range of building ideas is enormous. We also bought characters for her to enhance. Peppa pig and family can be bought in duplo as can Winnie the Pooh characters. As both these families are real favourites we make different scenarios together for them. Lego Duplo is ideal for small hands to cope with easily and is very hard wearing. Bits do not break off. We love it! If you lose the instructions, you can go online to to the manufacturers website to find the building instructions for the model number you have - brilliant.
Env: developmentBefore a child is old enough to enter the magical world of Legos, they can still enjoy some of the wonder through the toddler's counterpart, Duplos. Like Legos, Duplos are one of the sturdiest toys ever built. Despite hundreds (or even thousands) of hours in the hands of not-so-very gentle toddlers, not a single Duplo block in my house has ever broken or even chipped. The color is infused in the plastic itself, not painted on top like in so many other toys. Concerned parents don't have to worry about their baby swallowing specks of paint while gnawing on the bright blue building block. But enough about the make! These toys open up a whole world of wonder and exploration. The same pile of blocks can be transformed from a house to a tower to a space ... MoreEnv: developmentBefore a child is old enough to enter the magical world of Legos, they can still enjoy some of the wonder through the toddler's counterpart, Duplos. They teach creativity as a child explores the different forms the blocks can take. They teach engineering as a child learns what makes a tower sturdy and how to best organize the blocks. But best of all, they prepare kids to play with Legos. :)(For those worried about the price, look at yard sales or thrift store. They last forever and can be cleaned so easily!)Env: development
Env: developmentSO my eldest son just turned one this summer and we were looking for good constructive toys which did not produce noise but helped encouraged the imagination and physical development of motor skills. My parents suggested legos Duplos which we loved as a child so we jumped at the oppurtunity. My son has had this set of duplos for almost 6months now and it has been fun watching him learn how to play, at one year (which is a little under the recomended age) we would build things and he enjoyed watching (and of course tearing down). More recently though he has begun to get the concept of stacking and building and while he can not always line up the lines just right it has been excellent to stimulate these motor skills needed for the bulding ... MoreEnv: developmentSO my eldest son just turned one this summer and we were looking for good constructive toys which did not produce noise but helped encouraged the imagination and physical development of motor skills. Env: developmentLego Duplo is a toy that your children can enjoy for hours and hours. The Duplo series is made from the same Lego group that makes the Lego Systems line of toys. The difference is that the Duplo series is fatter, bigger, and easier to grip. They are also geared for children of a younger age, and are harder to swallow. But of course, you need to always stay nearby and watch your young children because you never want to risk children swallowing items down their throat. If your children are of an age where they will try to gulp things down, they honestly should not be playing with this toy in the first place, adn they most likely would just smash the Duplo pieces around rather than their intended purpose. Their intended purpose obviously is to be used ... MoreEnv: developmentLego Duplo is a toy that your children can enjoy for hours and hours.
