Like many i thought this would take my Lego Star Destroyer to the next level, and it does to some extent. However the instructions are incredibly poor! Some of the parts received in the kit like the circuit boards don't match the images of the pieces in the instructions. They also rely on the model having exact symmetry which you will know from building each side is slightly different. This leaves you to just guess where to put some of the lighting as it is not clear. Some of the cable that were supposed to be the same length weren't so you can't place and stick some of the circuit boards down in the places they should be. So Game of Bricks isn't even holding any of their own stock in Europe which is outrageous in 2023.All in all very unhappy and definitely won't be buying any more lighting kits!

After being separated from virtually a room full of Lego for almost 15 years, I went for this set (over a huge Technic model) as I was in a great SW mood. It made me feel happy and fulfilled in a very special way. I pretty much agree with what the other top rating reviews said, the details on this ship are insane, the structural integrity is there, and even just the box(es) and the manual are beautiful. Maybe I will also go for the current Falcon but I doubt anything can beat this. I also can't see any interior going in there. Perhaps an enlarged bridge on the side as a little bonus. It cannot be stretched enough how awesome the building experience is every step along the way. Once you get the triangular frame up, especially with the back section, this iconic giant shape just looms behind (or over) your construction foreshadowing the sheer power it represents. I tried not to rush but it still feels like it was over too quickly. Personally I loved building the Technic backbone and just how well it all fits when you put the massive separate parts for the exterior together, also the different joints and joining mechanisms employed made me smile. Handling thousands of pieces including a ton of 'wings' repeatedly lit up my imagination about all the other ships I could build with them - but no, this all goes into one floating masterpiece.I used to make spaceship engines/jets out of different wheels from the old space sets and it just worked. Similarly, the solutions for different objects using existing parts all look great on this model and it was heart-warming to encounter 'ancient' pieces like barrels and car doors. Overall I congratulate the designers on creating this and probably getting very close to max-ing out what one can do with Lego, especially considering that the ship itself is mid-air at all times. I can't stop looking up and down the sides and back from different angles. Epic.

This Lego Collector's set is Great, It's a another superb kit from Lego. It has a lot of external detailing but nothing internal. It has four lift off top section's to reveal a clever carrying handle, I found it easy to follow the instruction and completed the build over four evening's. Please think about how you are going to display this model if your going to purchase it, it is large. Overall it is a must for Star Wars collector's, but for me the UCS Millennium Falcon is the most challenging and superior model in detail with all it's removeable panel's and internal detailing. Just my opinion.

Overall the build was pretty straight forward, with a few repetitive elements. I found it easy to just build both sides at the same time but opposite which made that part of it a little more interesting as I didn't feel like I was just repeating things the other way two times. My major downside with this set is that as in the photo, the manual says to carry it in one of two ways. I found if you carry it from the techic it is super solid and can move around or place wherever, then just simply clip back on the top sections. The way of carrying it from the base is a load of rubbish, I made sure the connections were all super solid, but moving it this way the plates came away from the connection points and began to sag or sections of the plates just came loose ... The way of carrying it from the base is a load of rubbish, I made sure the connections were all super solid, but moving it this way the plates came away from the connection points and began to sag or sections of the plates just came loose entirely. I have never felt so frustrated building Lego and moving it around to different display locations as I have with this set.I also tried removing the Technic stand section and raising it off the table with clear bricks and swivel pieces as the connection. The weight off the build required about 8-10 connection towers to support it, which just totally lost the effect unless it was night time. I understand it is a display piece but considering the price, I feel Lego should have had some more flexibility in the display options.Overall I love the look of it displayed as is, but have added about 30 flat 2x4 pieces just to ensure the plates stay together when I move it around, which should not be required for an out of the box set.
The most common discussion on this set will no doubt be how “high” the “dollar to brick” ratio is and if this set is really worth it. Please consider a few of these things first, and most importantly go see and pick up the set in person before you make any rash or uninformed judgements yourself.Yes, this set is almost half the pieces and yet only $100 cheaper than the Millennium Falcon, but it actually feels (based on picking up the box) heavier and i think they say it is. Also consider that there are tons more large plates and thick heavy studs, pieces that naturally carry higher prices in here than some small thin parts. Also, this set is appreciably longer than the Falcon and has considerable width in the back to rival it as well. It’s a total upgrade over the prior ISD in detail, size and scale. If You haven’t purchased the Super Star Destroyer then this may be the set for you. It’s bigger and definitely doesn’t seem as plain or boring to me than that set.Drawbacks on this set are the mini figures included and the hollow interior to get used to. Yes, they could have offered several more figures and droids that relate to this ship (Darth Vader?!?). There are no real playable compartments hidden inside for mini figures anyway, like the Falcon and most sets included. It’s literally just a big shell with colored struts and framing inside.Overall, I’m giving this set a good 4 of 5. It is HUGE and HEAVY and packs tremendous outside detailing. It would have been perfect had it included several more limited edition mini gigs related to it and maybe a few playable areas able to be hidden inside. It’s the second most expensive set so it’s a must have for those “top ten” collector types out there.
I'm about to buy this thing and have been reading the reviews. I've seen this kit in person and have no idea what some people on here were expecting. it isn't a toy pet se. it's a static display model. you're supposed to build it and leave it alone. don't move it, don't play with it, don't mess with it. it is very possible to move this thing without breaking it. I don't know how some of you are transferring it across your house to another room, but you're obviously doing it wrong. lol. I've built the UCS B-Wing, UCS X-Wing and Millennium Falcon among other huge LEGO Star Wars and other sets. No issues here when moving any of them. always build massive sets close to where it will be displayed. if you can't do that, then maybe don't buy them. I don't know what to tell ... I suggest that when anyone else on here moves the model across a room that they take off the top panels and carry it by the frame. put the panels back on when you place it on a shelf or cabinet. Use common sense.
Before this Star Destroyer, my favorite Star Wars set that I owned was the 10188 Death Star. This absolutely dwarfs that, and is by far the most impressive set I own. But should you buy it? Let’s address some counter-arguments.“It’s too expensive!” Well, you have to consider the cost of designing and testing this set’s integrity. You have to take into account the piece count and inclusion of so many large pieces. This is a sturdy, highly detailed model, a major improvement from the relative sloppiness of the 2003 version of this set. Although that one was good for its day, it’s definitely out-dated and not as advanced as this one. One must also consider the cost of creating the instructions, box art, sturdy packaging, and global shipping. When all that is taken ... One must also consider the cost of creating the instructions, box art, sturdy packaging, and global shipping. When all that is taken into account, and when you actually have the set built before you, the $700 you drop for it will ultimately be worth it.“The minifigures aren’t good enough!” This is also a silly argument because you don’t buy the set for the minifigures, you buy it for the Star Destroyer. Sure, it may be disappointing that there wasn’t a Vader included in this set, but there are many sets that do, including a far less expensive Death Star Final Duel set for just over $100. That Vader has arm and leg printing and a highly detailed design as well, so in retrospect, not getting him in this set shouldn’t be that big of a deal.“It doesn’t have any interior!” Well, there aren’t many places inside a Star Destroyer that are iconic enough to put into this build. An interior would not only be extremely difficult to access on any point of this ship, but it would also compromise the structural integrity of the ship. Personally, I’d rather have a sturdy ship with no interior than a tiny interior that detracts from the sturdiness of this build. If you’re looking for a Star Destroyer with a good interior, consider buying one of the Star Destroyer playsets from Bricklink. Now, let’s talk about the many, many pros, starting with the internal structure. The skeleton is not only fun to construct, but it’s also crucial to the strength of the Star Destroyer. When you realize that it’s a 10-15 pound ship, it really shows that it does what it’s supposed to. Next, the details are unmatched on almost all LEGO sets, even the 10221 Super Star Destroyer. The turret emplacements, surface detailing, shapes and diverse part inventory are more accurate than we’ve ever seen before. Also, the sheer size of the Star Destroyer makes for a great display piece for any Star Wars fan. I’ve found myself staring and admiring this thing for hours. It really looks and feels like a quality product more than just a giant hunk of plastic. It’s enough to make anyone who sees it for the first time say “wow”.I could go on for much longer about all the things I love about this set, but you really just need to experience this set for yourself in order to truly appreciate it. If there was one thing I could change or add to this set, I would ask LEGO to create a special conversion kit for this set that allows fans to convert the Imperial-I Star Destroyer into an Imperial-II. That’s why the Star Destroyers in A New Hope are different from the Star Destroyers in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The conversion kit could include two more turbolaser turrets to replace the ion turrets, a communications tower to replace the tractor beam array, and a targeting system to replace the three axial defense turrets.
Beyond fenomenal is the way I'd describe this set. Starting out with the popular negative points of it not having an interior and a lack of minifigs, you have to understand this is solely and exclusively a display set. Just by looking at this thing you know you should never pick this up and play with it, thus, if playing is what you enjoy about Lego, this set is not for you, plus an interior would add a lot to the already very high weight. The minifigs are just an nice added bonus, but they don't add anything to the set itself and it would do perfectly fine without them. Now, onto the ship itself, this set is visually an exact replica of an Imperial Star Destroyer; the shapes and proportions are so accurate it´s even scary (all that with the brilliant Lego charm we all know and love). The sheer size of it depicts perfectly how imposing a Star Destroyer is supposed to be, and it´s sure to overshadow anything you place next to it and astonish anyone who looks upon it, just the way it was in the begining of A New Hope. The build itself is quite challenging, as building the interior can be quite complicated given it´s all Technic, while you really need to take your time to ensure the external plates all connect perfectly with one another, which in the end might make your fingertips a little swore. All that said however, it´s an extremely fun build, one of the best I´ve ever had. This set is a must have for anyone who calls themselves a Lego Star Wars collector, and even if the price tag is daunting at first, once you actually build it you´ll understand why it´s worth every penny. Lego truly outdid themselves with this one, and I couldn´t be happier that I own it.
FALLS APART!!! ive built many starwars lego sets and i have never built one that falls apart as much as this. took me about a week to build and it is a pain to try to keep it together while your building it. the huge plates dont stay together the interior supports detach the small pieces fall off. finally i get done building it and its awesome dont get me wrong its huge and sweet but after that first day of it getting done it starts to fall apart again havent even moved it and the engine is off then the bottom plates come apart then on of the interior support pops out some parts of this is just sloppy no support at all ive rebuilt this thing probably 3 times over since ive had it. my opinion its not worth the price. dont buy it. and if you do your going to need some ... I have loved Lego since I was a kid and now as an adult with some disposable hobby income, I truly enjoy working on the more complicated sets that have been appearing.I bought this set the first day that it went on 'early' sale for VIP, didn't even hesitate (I have a very tolerant wife).I finally got a chance to build this thing. It was such a fun build, absolutely loved it. It is easily the largest set I have purchased/built, with the closest being the UCS Sandcrawler (#75059) at 3296 pieces. I have been waiting for a large/UCS star destroyer for so long. I could not afford the original UCS ISD (#10030) or the Super Star Destroyer (#10221) at the time of their releases, and now of course they are even more expensive, so it was a pleasant surprise when this was ... As awesome, large, and detailed as it is, it is lacking the comparative detail that the 2018 Millennium Falcon (#75192) has. I am truly disappointed that this set did not come with a Darth Vader mini figure and at least two storm troopers (in addition to the two that it DID come with)..and honestly if it were up to me, it would have come with even more, but at least including the iconic figures would have made so many people happy. That it didn't come with those, truly boggles my mind... For a $700 set, how does it NOT come with the most iconic figure directly related to it? Sure, I can buy a separate Darth Vader mini fig to display with it, but it is the principle of the fact... for the price, additional mini figures should have been a no-brainer...It really wouldn't have cost Lego much to include them (in fact, it might have help this set sell even more as I know the mini fig count is one of the biggest hang-ups for a lot of people). The lack of such iconic and directly related mini figures is almost as frustrating to me as the lack of a UCS information plaque for the UCS Sandcrawler...(don't get me started on that one... another truly mind boggling decision).I must concur with other reviews that there are some stability concerns with the stand from a 'side-to-side' perspective, it doesn't feel as stable as I would like for the weight of this monster. Not sure how I plan to display this beast yet, but whatever I come up with will HAVE to involve strengthening that stand. It also appears that I have some warped pieces. I will upload some pics to show this. It causes some 'flaring' of the nose bits and some misaligned seams. On the particular panel that seems the most warped, the warping also appears to cause the panel to hit the cross member section of the frame (shown in pics)... the set is definitely put together properly and I disassembled the section a couple of times to review...additionally, this is not an issue on the other side, which is identical.I can also relate to some of the other reviews that snapping in the top body panels can be frustrating. The ball joints are understandably tight, I like that they are...But when snapping the ball into the socket, the bricks supporting the ball piece can very easily pop out of the panel. This can be especially frustrating when putting on the last panel as there is no way to reach inside and support those bricks as you snap the balls into the sockets.Over all, as stated before, I love this set and I loved the build process. I DO recommend this set, but only for the most die hard fans of Star Destroyers that have the disposable income to handle it. The value of this set is going to vary drastically from person to person.Thank you for a great set Lego, I am looking forward to what the next 'mega' UCS set will be.
