I have 3 teen boys and this set was great for them! It gave them an activity to keep them all busy and it was so nice to see them truly having a good time while working TOGETHER. They definitely bonded over this Lego set. It wasn't too easy or too difficult to build and they were able to complete it independently without any issues. We had no problems with missing pieces or things not coming together properly. It only took them a couple hours which I think was perfect. My boys share our basement and each have them own room with a "common area" in the middle and this is a great display piece they have now proudly showcased there.

This is a great model of R2-D2. If you are a fan of this little astromech, then this is the droid you've been looking for. However, I am a fan of Knights of the Old Republic, and I woud have passed this set up if not for the EXCLUSIVE figure of Darth Malak. And I don't know how I feel about this.On the one hand, Lego played me. They know they can release a popular character like R2-D2 and it will sell more than a theme appropriate pairing like T3-M4, the real hero of KotoR II. It feels like they are taking advantage of a fan like me and playing both sides of the coin instead of making a set that I actually want to own and build (more expanded universe stuff!)On the other...I suppose I could look at this as a bonus. Hey, we get a figurine of Darth Malak! How ... MoreThis is a great model of R2-D2. And yes, that's why I wanted to own this set.So to Lego...you know us pathetic millenials are buying toys pretending they are for our kids. Just make some more expanded universe stuff and have us gobble it up. Let's see more KotoR stuff, Jedi Knight, Shadows of the Empire, etc. And also...thank you for making Darth Malak. Even though I had to buy another R2-D2 to get him. But it is a really good R2-D2 so...thanks for that too. :)

Great little project for Lego/Star Wars fanatics
14 September 2024

Great project, separated into twelve sections to build and assemble. Instructions make it reasonably easy to assemble if you follow it closely. You may find yourself with a small assortment of pieces left at the end of your build, and this is perfectly normal! When taking the items out of the packaging, take care to look for the sheet of stickers. Easily misplaced!!Great to see the whole thing coming together as you build out. Head swivels. Legs also move, and the removable tripod legs allows for stability in display. Shame that Lego haven't made the tools a foldable piece, but fitting them is easy enoughAnd such a great display piece!

Great quality, great value, great build
6 March 2024

The most impressive part for me was the clarity of the instructions. With some builds it can get quite confusing looking at the images and converting that into the build you have in front of you. I'm so glad that the newer pieces now use different vibrantly coloured pieces to differentiate the sides of the piece. Makes it miles easier to match what you've got in front of you, with what's on the page.I'd definitely say that for half the price, while not as elaborate, this really is a great comparison to the UCS R2-D2, and is great if you really don't want to shell out the full £210.

Lego R2D2 unit is loads of Fun if...
21 April 2024

This is a fun set to put together....BUT!Be prepared to wade through missing parts, insturctions that contain images only, and, in the end...finding that those 4-5 missing parts translates to one or two missing parts as you find the interspersed among the other bags.I ended up one part short (replaced for free on-line) and with 11 extra parts! Also: if you attach the midde leg, beware that the unit will be back-weighted and will easily fall over backwards (with parts scattered everywhere!).You can remove the middle leg or take off the footpads to add security. Also, there are no electronics so...no beeps or whistles or lights. But it is an impressive unit and I'm leaning to get the bigger one now that I know what to expect.

Missing pieces
15 May 2024

Enjoy putting these larger sets together. Retired so good for this rainy days.Half way through build, bag #7 saw missing a piece. It happens with number of pieces involved I get it.Ordered the piece, waited week n half, put that piece on and missing another piece. So ordered that piece.VERY inconvient!!! And for money spent QC seems to be slipping. 2 pieces from one bag, and not even half way through yet.

Wow!! Truly Lego Lighting 2.0!!
12 July 2024

I've tried many of the Lego light companies and Light my Bricks is the best I've found. I've used many of their 1.0 kits on my Lego models and they always amaze and impress me so I was a little skeptical when they came out with the 2.0. Well I got this kit to try it out and I can truly say this is revolutionary in the way to do Lego lighting. The new flat metal ribbon wires are just so much easier to use than the old braided ones and be cause they are so impossibly thin they fit between everything. They are a lot more sturdy and I think a lot less likely to short out. Gone are the days of bunching the braided wires between blocks leaving a gap that then destabilizes your lego structures. They just plug and play and I no longer need a magnifying glass to plug them ... MoreI've tried many of the Lego light companies and Light my Bricks is the best I've found. The 3D, single page, single step instructions make it absolutely clear what needs to be done.Well done light my bricks and would highly recommend to the expert and novice lego lighter alike!! Can't wait to see more kits created for more sets!! I would even consider relighting some of my finished models with this new system.

This is the R2 I’ve been waiting for! Our favorite astromech is nearly flawless with correct proportions throughout, detailed legs and great accessory additions making this my second favorite droid build (BD-1 is still the gold standard for me).The addition of Darth Malak is superb! Great printing and colors on the minifigure along with a stellar face print and top-tier mask make this a phenomenal anniversary figure that will surely be desired for years to come!5/5
