Lego expand their sets from the second Avengers movie with a great set packed with lots of playability to recreate scenes from the Age Of Ultron. The model:Not a bad scaled down representation of the top levels of the Avengers Tower and a nice addition to any AoU collection. The outside has 2 turning levers which can be used to blow the windows outward for Ultron's escape. The other side has a scanner bay and a bench with Loki's sceptre and a moveable scanner. The top floor has the lounge area with seating. The sofa flips up and there is a secret compartment storing a gun underneath. The front patio area can flip upward in two parts and there are positionable stud blasters underneath. The other side has Tony's computer work station with two moving consoles and 3 moving vertical displays. The roof has a rotating section which has 2 stud blasters and the front hinges out and a small drone can be launched from inside. The drone has twin stud blasters and moveable wings. It's a great kit and one of the better playsets in the MCU line.Building time is about 45 minutes. There are a lot of stickers to apply but Lego really should be printing these on pieces for a better finish.Figures:There are 5 figures in this set.Firstly we have Tony Stark in his Mark 43 Armour. This is the same as other kits in the AoU line. Tony also has a black hair piece in case you wish to display his as such and has face printing on both sides.Next we have Thor. Nice body printing on this figure and a nice, softer cloth cape. He comes, as always, with Mjolnir. His head piece has face printing on both sides.Thirdly we have 2 Iron Legion Drones. These are great and a nice addition to the growing collection of Iron Man suits. The detailing is good and they have red hand and feet repulsar effects for each. Finally we have the best of the set, the Mark 1 Ultron. Another nicely detailed figure showing the 'patched together' structure of his first body. I love the detailing on the clear head piece which enables you to see through the parts. He has had and feet repulsar effects in dark blue.Overall:One of the best playsets Lego have made in the Super Heroes line with a lot of play features and a good set of figures. The only comment I would make is that maybe there should've been a few more hinges used in the construction for stability. With only one top and bottom this may be a bit fragile for kids but it's still a great display piece.

My first thoughts when purchasing this set were: WOW, great figs and an iconic building! However, once I was finished, I think half of that is true...The figs are splendid! Always happy to add another Ironman to my collection, and I appreciate the hair piece for Stark! Thor is lovely as well, especially his cape, I love the new material. Ultron and the sentries look really great too!The tower was a bit disappointing for me, just my opinion. I think it is a GREAT play design, opening up through the middle really makes it fun and easy to play with. I think I was looking for something a bit taller and wider perhaps. I would really enjoy an additional set to try and make the building a bit bigger.I think I would recommend this to anyone, it has great play ability ... I purchase this along with the Quinjet City Chase set, and out of the two sets I've built the Avengers Tower set is probably a set I wouldn't recommend. The build was quite straight forward and nothing too complicated, but there were a lot of stickers to be applied and some were annoying to apply like the ones on the windows. The finished product is quite nice and there are a lot of play features! For example, there's a hidden drone at the top of the tower along with a couple stud shooters that unveil when you turn the deck of tower to its sideThere are quite a few rooms here and I'm impressed how there is some decent interior. The windows that that Ultron breaks out from and the area where the Iron Legion drones are deployed are not tightly secured because of the play feature, so expect the windows to easily to fall off very often if you're handling them. The worst offender was every time I grab the tower there's a chance it would come apart easily and adds some frustration to the play experience. The mini-figs are okay. Iron Man MK 43 and Thor come in cheaper sets, so no need to buy this set if you have them already. Ultron MK 1 is nice, but I would have prefer if he had a custom head piece or helmet rather than a normal head piece with printing on it. The Iron Legion drones are okay, but nothing special. In short, I'd pass on this set and buy the Hulk Buster Smash or the Quinjet City Chase.

My 8 year old son received this set for his birthday and after building it, he played with it all day. We haven't seen the Age of Ultron movie yet, but he loves his superheroes and this set is a great addition to his collection. First the technical stuff... Instructions were clear and assembly went pretty easily. We took turns since there were four main stages of building, and of course, parts were separated and bagged based on the stages. The only negative I have for the main build is that there were quite a few stickers (we hate stickers). Placement was relatively easy if you're looking for a silver lining to that cloud. I did dock the play experience one star because play was a little cramped inside the tower. The rooms are a good size and come with nice, neat ... I did dock the play experience one star because play was a little cramped inside the tower. The rooms are a good size and come with nice, neat little bits, like the stretcher and syringes, etc, but quite a few times while placing or removing a mini figure, things got knocked out of place. Other than the little bit of cramped space, this is a wonderful set and looks great when its fully assembled. My son wanted me to let people know that his favorite part is the upper floor and how the deck can be knocked apart. Enjoy, and happy building!
This is an amazing set! All of the little rooms have good play features.First off, there's the robot bay with 2 Iron Legions, their stands extend out, and the windows fold down. Then there's the sick/medical bay with a stretcher for Stark, and a little needle. Going up, there's a room for putting Ultron (MK1), little assembling arms, a rotating stand, and two exploding windows. Across from that there's a lab for Loki's scepter, and a moving analyzing screen. The next level has a (J.A.R.V.I.S.) computer for the "Ultron Project'' with a hidden gun. Then, there's the balcony with a couch/sofa that holds a hidden gun, and 2 hidden stud shooters. Each end folds up for an exploding feature. It has good figures and play features. The hardest thing on this is the stickers. It can be really challenging to get all of the stickers on straight and making the Avengers logo on each side. Now, about $60-63 isn't the best price, you do get a lot of cool things included.Below are the other Age of Ultron sets I have at this moment, as I am trying to collect all of the AoU sets (3/6) :). Check those out, too!
This is one of the best Lego sets I have ever purchased. It is completely worth every penny. The many features in this set make it outstanding. First, let me tell you about the characters. The characters are great. I love the new Ultron Mk 1 and the 2 Iron Legionaires, although Ultron should probably look a tiny bit more like the Iron Legionaires (He was one originally!). It's always nice to have an Iron Man figure in most of the sets, but I don't get why Thor is in the set. Sure, he only comes in one other set in this series, but I think it would be better to replace him with either Hawkeye or Black Widow. A Bruce Banner minifigure would also be nice.Okay, now for the tower! The 6 rooms in this set include the command center, balcony and medical bay and are each ... I very much enjoy the exploding window function, allowing Ultron to easily swoop in and retrieve Loki's scepter. I am not sure what the room on the bottom floor next to the medical bay is supposed to be used for, but I just use it for storing my Iron Legionaires. Last of all, I am very impressed with the hidden blasters below the balcony and on the top of the tower. I don't see anything that could be improved in the tower, except possibly adding another floor. This set is meant much more for play, although it makes an impressive display. Buying this set is an absolute must for any Lego Marvel fan ages 10 and up.
The tower looks great and comes with a lot of good features. Out of all the sets out there, this one is the one you want to get. I mean, it's the freakin Avengers Tower! It was easy to assemble and is very durable. Plus it comes with some great figures. My only complaints and the reason for my 4 stars instead of 5 is that instead of really good, this thing could and should have been great. It basically has 6 areas, 3 floors divided into 2 sides. Some of those are really cool but some are not very useful. The space could have been used a little better. I would have liked to have seen a "Hall of Armors" type of room for Iron Man's suits. Also, I don't get the flying drone thing. It's not in the movies and seems like a filler. By filler, I mean blocks that are added ... MoreThe tower looks great and comes with a lot of good features. But overall it's really cool and if you are going to buy one of the bigger play sets, you should get this one. I got it and the Hulkbuster one for my son and he loves them.
Great set. Fun build, and all the things they packed into such a small space is impressive. This set literally has something any age can appreciate: the architecture impressed me, and of course the subject will interest kids. When I got this I knew it wouldn't be a large set (and it isn't) but when I was building it I was amazed at all the great pieces it contains! I am actually planning to buy a second set of this just to have the parts for other things. The blue windows, arches, and numerous speciality pieces had me thinking of other things to build before I even finished the 1st floor! The ONLY thing I don't like about this set is where the "A" stickers are supposed to go. Man. Just man. This set is good, but there a few aspects I was off about after building it. Figs first. The MK43 Iron Man is incredible, awesome printing on the helmet and body. Thor is basically a glorified version of the Avengers version. The hair is wrong, and I would have liked some leg printing, come on LEGO you can't keep rehashing the same Thor with just a few slight differences. Yet nevertheless, Thor is still a good figure. Ultron MK1 is... I'm speechless. The figure is amazing, with great printing. The Iron Legion drones are super cool. I like that there are more than 1, so you can build an army. The Tower is up next. This tower is one giant play set, for some, this is a negative, for me, it is an opportunity to tweak the model to my specifications. I like ... MoreMan. Just man. I like how the model opens up to reveal the inside, better than removing floors or not having a back in my opinion. The bustable windows are cool. The stud shooters underneath the balcony add a nice "under attack security" feel. The inside is good. The lab, lounge area, assembly tower, and Iron Legion storage are all film accurate. The Medical Wing just seems out of place. An area to store gear would have been cool. The drone on top is also a cool build.Overall, good set.
Based on the iconic Stark Tower fans of the MCU will know, this set is now known as the Avengers Tower, as it is called in Age of Ultron. At 11.6 cents per piece, is the Avengers Tower worth the price tag?Minifigures:Thor: Perhaps the least interesting minifigure in this set, with an unprinted Mjolnir. He also comes in Avengers Hydra Showdown/ Duel with Hydra.Iron Man: Also comes in The Hulk Buster Smash, as well as The Avengers Quinjet City Chase. Suitably detailed, but more of a side note as he comes in other sets.Iron Legionaire x2: Some people may have bought this set just to get these guys. They are well detailed, with red repulsors. I like the earth blue/gold helmet mix.Ultron Mark I: The main reason I got this set. He's meant to be a damaged Iron ... Still, he is a great figure, and will prove valuable for minifigure collectors. I like his dark blue repulsors.Accessories: I normally don't include a section for accessories, but the ones included here are great: 2x double barrel guns, 2x red 1x1 cylinders, 2x red 1x1 round pieces, 1 light blue cylinder, 1 dark blue cylinder, 6x additional 1x1 round pieces, one sand blue syringe, Loki's scepter with dark blue diamond, and the ever-present fire extinguisher. At least the fire extinguisher makes sense here, it is a building after all, but can't Iron Man put out fires?Let's review the tower's seperate levels one by one:Ground level aka Level One: Iron Legion storage and medical bay. The medical bay is one the round side of the building, while the Iron Legion is on the more squarish side, and can be slid out. There are space for 4 Iron Legionaires. The medical bay has a stretcher above a white drawer for the syringe.Level Two: Loki's scepter lab and Ultron Mark I creation lab. The windows can be "exploded" out by flicking levers on either side of the building. Unfortunately studs on the windows are exposed and creates an unprofessional look when on the building, but this is not apparent on the shop.LEGO.com image. The Loki's scepter lab is quite cool, but employs a clear sticker. This is not the only time the ominous clear stickers are used in this set...Level Three: Lounge, Balcony, and Roof. The lounge has nice brick yellow pieces used for the sofas, and the larger sofa has a secret storage compartment for the included guns. There is also a small table for drinks. The balcony, which is surprisingly thick due to the use of stud shooters underneath, can be split in half to recreate Iron Man/Iron Legionaires/ Ultron Mark I bursting through the balcony. The top of the roof rotates and has a compartment for storing a drone... and the compartment has stud shooters on top. The drone ALSO uses stud shooters. Yay! Stud shooters are not a bad thing, but I find they are overused in this set. The drone also has stickers which are hard to align. However, the worst stickers have to be the ones for the Avengers logo. Clear stickers are bad enough, but ones of this size, to be stuck on windows, are incredibly hard to align. Lego should get rid of stickers altogether, and start by removing all clear stickers. Air bubbles are especially prevalent in clear stickers, which are ugly. Also good to note that there are no Super Jumper wobbly functions.A tower provides good playability, but this feels a bit too small and cramp. It looks good on display folded up... if you got the stickers right. It does look okay without the stickers, just not Avengers enough.PROS:+Good exclusive figures+Many windows+Good interiorCONS:-Overuse of stickers, especially the clear ones-Overuse of stud shooters-Questionable priceBuild: 13/20Play experience: 15/20Minifigures: 15/20Price: 10/20Display: 17/20TOTAL: 70/100
