Amazing, Bright and Compact

These binoculars are truly amazing. They are lighter than most and perfect for birding and many other uses. Tried other major brand but didn't like the weight and too big to focus properly if you have smaller eye frames.

Binoculars that make you look for opportunities to use them

I already had an excellent pair of Leica 8x32 BN binoculars and thought I might sell these shortly after they arrived, but the small difference in weight and increased brightness at dusk convinced me to keep them. Very enjoyable to use and light enough to carry all day, the 8x magnification is ideal for most all viewing activities and the 32mm lenses give the best balance between the brightness of a larger lens and the compactness of a smaller one. Maybe one of the best all around binoculars for people like myself.

The Leica 8x32 Ultravid HD Plus binoculars are fantastic. I have been using them for bird watching, star gazing and hiking. The clarity and color of objects is outstanding. I can see the whiskers on a sea otter at several hundred yards. I can see more stars than ever before in the Pleiades star cluster. The level of detail I can see at great distances is remarkable compared to other binoculars. I have been using Leica and Swarovski binoculars for 38 years, but all my binocs are over 25 years old. Leica has really made continual improvements and these new 8x32 Ultravid HD's are great.

Excellent, Light Weight Binoculars
26 January 2023

My wife prefers light-weight binoculars, and we find these Leica excellent. We still own a couple pairs of Leicas from around 1990. The biggest difference is that the news ones can focus much closer, and that is important for viewing hummingbirds. These were made by Leica in Portugal. Over the years, 3 of the 4 pairs of Leicas we bought were made in Portugal, and they are fine. Only one pair of 10x42 from around 1990 were made in Germany.

Great binoculars
4 January 2024

Amazing binoculars. Gorgeous Leica product quality, accuracy, optical excellence and classic design. Compact enough for traveling, good weight and balance in the arm. Sharp and bright options, natural colors rendering. Smooth, accurate and comfort focusing mechanism.I was looking for top-quality, compact and lightweight binoculars for travels. First, I've got Leica Trinovid 8x32. Great binoculars, but I found them a little too bulky and slightly too heavy for my needs. Ultravid is twice more expensive, but IMO it worth the money. Over Trinovid, Ultravid is noticeable lightweight and smaller in the hand and in the pocket, with more handy construction of focusing and diopter adjustment mechanisms.I am happy with Ultravid 8x32, and ain't looking at any other ... MoreAmazing binoculars. Light, very sharp, very contrasty, a pleasure to use
21 September 2020

I use these for bird-watching and for hiking and observing nature, and I love them. The view is very sharp and very contrasty, with great vivid colors. The binoculars are light, very well made, small, and a pleasure to use, from their very well made diopter mechanism, to the smooth focus, to the positive settings of eyecups. The accessories are also very good: from eyepiece covers, to objective covers, and very light and well made case.I have also the Zeiss 8x32 FL, and these are a bit more contrasty, and have better color (especially, better rendition of red tones). They are a pleasure to use and my favorite pair of binoculars overall.

Most excellent
28 September 2022

Excellent optics in a very compact and lightweight package. I own the 7x 42 Ultravid HD-Plus and use them most every day. But I was looking for something lighter to always have with me. I owned a previous iteration of Leica's 8x32 BN twenty years ago and have missed them. I owned Swarovski's 8x32 EL but like these better. Leica improved their warranty too!

Small but mighty!
30 March 2024

I've been a birder for 55 years and have owned many pairs of high-end binoculars in that time. Currently I own 2 pairs of Swarovski ELs (8.5X42 and 10X42) and several other high-end binoculars. I purchased the Leica Ultravid HD-Plus 8X32 because I wanted something lighter in weight and more compact, but without sacrificing optical quality. I received the Leicas a few hours ago and have put them through the paces, and I must say that I think I hit the jackpot with these, they are superb. The image is tack-sharp all the way to the edge and the color rendition is phenomenal. I was worried about ease of use with a smaller binocular, but these are very easy to use. I do not wear glasses. The ergonomics are great, they just feel good in the hand. The focus knob is smooth ... MoreI've been a birder for 55 years and have owned many pairs of high-end binoculars in that time. The perfect compromise binocular
13 August 2017

With Leica Ultravids, the quality of vision is a given - as good as anything out there; however, these have turned out to be far more frequently used than I had imagined they would. They excel for sporting events and nature watching, mostly because of their compact size. My other decent pair is a Leica 7x42. These are much heavier, bulkier and of course, much better in low light, but at the last minute, I usually find myself reaching for the 8x32s instead. The other downside with either of these is that I never use my other two pairs of mid-range binoculars at all - the Leicas are just so much better. You won't really notice any functional difference between 7x and 8x in daylight unless you're really nit-picking. If I only had one pair of binoculars, these would be ... MoreWith Leica Ultravids, the quality of vision is a given - as good as anything out there; however, these have turned out to be far more frequently used than I had imagined they would. The ultimate all around binocular.
16 March 2017

I do some birding, but my primary bino use is for hunting. I have several different sets. I mainly hunt from tree or ground blinds and carry three different purpose binos when the situation permits. These include the 8x32 Ultravid HD Plus, the 7x42 Ultravid HD plus, and a set of Canon L 10x42 IS. Early morning and late evening are the most active times for most wildlife and the 7x42 is ideal for viewing very low light activity. In daylight hours, the Canon L is awesome. It is tack sharp and the IS steadiness and clarity have to be seen to be believed. However, it is heavy, tiring, and exhausting to use for long periods of time. That leaves the Ultravid 8x32 HD Plus. It is as good as it gets once you get a bit more light. It is much better than the human eye for ... MoreI do some birding, but my primary bino use is for hunting. I have several different sets. It is as good as it gets once you get a bit more light. It is much better than the human eye for seeing into darkened landscapes and for brightness it has the same geometric light value as the Ultravid HD Plus 10X42. Leica design, quality, and durability are legendary. I still keep my 48 year old Leitz 7X35B set in my vehicle for viewing something of interest when driving. After using an Ultravid 8X32 for many years, I finally purchased the HD Plus model. There is a difference. They are the very sharpest, and the best all around glass I have every used. On a hunt, I use them 80% of my glassing time, For birding, its the only pair I carry.
