I can’t tell you how long I’ve spent thinking and researching what my next laptop would be. I think two generations of processors came and went in the entries on my spreadsheet until I made my final decision!I wanted something that felt premium and had more screen real estate than my outgoing 13” 16:9 laptop, but I also wanted something not that much heavier than its 1.3kg weight. Finally I settled on this marvellous laptop with its 14.5” screen, and crucially ordered the matte version and got the version without the 3050 dGPU – because I knew that the 6800HS has the best integrated graphics ever; plenty good enough for Football Manager!So, where to start with the actual review? It feels premium. Lovely finish, no sharp edges, great screen. Choosing matte was 100% the right choice. I don’t miss the slightly more vibrant output of a glossy screen and I certainly don’t miss the reflections I used to get from my old laptop. If I was watching movies all day in a dark room I might think otherwise, but I’m using this for work and a smidge of entertainment in normally lit rooms and matte is perfect. 14.5” is such a great size – still massively portable, but great for productivity too.The keyboard is nice – perhaps not the best ever but certainly very good. The trackpad seems pretty much as good as you’ll get outside MacBooks (I still use a mouse though).If you get this version with an AMD processor you don’t get Thunderbolt 4 and you get two USB type A ports instead of one plus an HDMI port, in addition to the two USB type C ports, that the Intel version also has. Honestly, I just don’t need Thunderbolt 4 (and yes, it works with my docking station fine) and having two USB type A ports is great – wifi mouse receiver in one, headset in the other – perfect! As well as that you get far better integrated graphics than you would with Intel – a much better decision if you aren’t getting the RTX 3050 as well.The processor and iGPU with Radeon 680M graphics seem amazing. There are three power modes that work whether plugged in or on battery, but I just stick with ‘battery saver’ regardless because even with only 15 watts running to the processor, it does everything that I need it to flawlessly i.e. standard office work, browsing etc. You’d probably need to turn it up to ‘intelligent cooling’ or beyond for some more intensive tasks, but I’m even playing Football Manager on 15 watts because the match engine gives me close to 60fps on medium settings whilst keeping the fans really quiet and the chassis cool. (On intelligent cooling you can get 60fps on high settings but at the expense of more heat and noise – not loads, but I’m being considerate to my lap, and the person next to me on the sofa).Any negatives? Well, the speakers are your standard laptop speakers but do seem a bit quieter than what I’m used to. I also would have loved a 1080p version rather than the slightly pointless 3k resolution, which would have meant more battery life. I haven’t put it to the test, but it looks like a 7-8 hour battery life which is just ‘ok’. It does have that feature where you can charge it just to 80% so as to protect the health of the battery, which is good.In conclusion – I LOVE this laptop! I don’t normally write reviews but just had to this time. I’m so used to over-researching things and then still making a mistake, but this time I really feel I got it right! Even the less than amazing battery life isn’t enough to knock a star off. Highly recommended – get the matte screen and if you don’t need a 3050, don’t bother with it. With those options – and in the sale, I got this for under £1,100 which is about the same as my old laptop, and this is sooo much better!

This is my first time ever owning a Lenovo laptop, and I'm pleased to say I love it. I might venture to say that Lenovo laptops will be my future laptops. Here are the things why I love it.- Build quality is superb. It feels premium when held and the rounded edges is a great touch. No more sharp edges like some other brand I dont want to mention.- It literally has all the ports you need. Well, almost. An SD/micro SD expansion slot would have made it perfect.- Trackpad size is awesome. I love how Lenovo offsets the trackpad a little to the left. All brands I know put the trackad right on the middle. Looks great, but my right hand keeps on accidentally pressing it. Forgot the cpu specs) and 16 threads handles all things I need for my kind of work (church live streaming among other things).- Lastly, its not even Lenovo's fault....But windows modern standby is......horrible. hopefully Microsoft fixes this obvious feature soon.

First, what I really like :- the screen,- keyboard- how slim and light this laptop is for the power it has.What I don't like :- the rattling of the trackpad (it may not be the case on other unit, I tried one that did't have this)- The fan humming noise when they run at low speed- The almost constant ON fans- The intermittent FREEZ !!! (and restart)..The massive trackpad is also nice, however I have one that has a rattling sound because it is a little loose (not enough for me to return it).The screen is just gorgeous! It has a high resolution of 3k which is not OLED, but it has really good cooler and blacks, that would make you think it is an OLED. Pu it'S one of the best I've tried on a 2023 laptop excluding think pads.Ports are just okay.. not having thunderbolt is a big turn off.. but I will live with it. Also, not having a HDMI is making me wonder why they put 2 UAB-A and no HDMI... the intel version have an HDMI, why would they change it for the AMD version ?Battery life is also just okay, expect 6-7 hours of real world mixed use. But for the power it has, I don't complain. It is a compromise I am ready to make, especially with the 3k screen which I like a lot.The fans : Well, this made me get a replacement. The fan noise is a bit annoying since it has that medium pitch humming noise when they are at low speed (which is almost all the time). This makes concentration a bit hard when studying. I did get a replacement, however the replacement unit was worst! The humming noise was also present, and even louder when the fans ramp up ! At least my fist unit when the fans ramp up, it's only the fan noise (no humming). So I kept the first one.What I really don't like and is making me concerned, is that intermittently the laptop freeze completely! The mouse just freeze and the laptop is unresponsive. I have to restart the laptop, and loose all work I am doing to make it respond again. This is a known issue and there is some people who are reporting it on reddit. It may be linked to the wifi card or bluetooth, but it is still discussed.Other that that I love the laptop, and the downsides are outweighed by the good stuff. I just hope I find a solution the the freezing problem !
Great Performance in a 14.5 Inch. A 12th Gen "H" Series Intel i7 Processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 GPU, 1Tb Drive, and 32GB makes this laptop a TRUE workhorse (great for users who have workloads that are processor intensive or for creatives that need to do graphic design). Has a built in IR Sensor for facial recognition to log in with Windows Hello, two thunderbolt 4 ports, 1 USB 3.1 type A, Headphone jack, WebCam Kill Switch, and a dedicated HDMI port. I've bought Lenovo laptops for years now. This Slim 7 ProX is my last. At first I was pleased with performance and style, but the longer I live with it the more irritating it becomes. My function keys keep getting reset back to media keys, which I hate. I've even changed the settings in the BIOS to no avail. My wallpaper slideshow keeps getting reset back to the Lenovo branded wallpaper, which is just aggravating. I could probably live with that, but I won't live with a hardware manufacturer who either thinks this is their laptop or can't be bothered to QA their "utilities."
Good Points: 3K screen (Overkill) 2k is enough really and reduce the price a bit. But having 3K screen means watching 4K videos a lot more enjoyable. I always notice the difference between 1080p youtube watching and 4K youtube watching now because of the 3K screen.Nice size screen at 14.5 inches, 16:10 aspect ratio = more vertical height for document work, etc.Very stylish design, minimal look, professional look. I have to reduce the graphics quality to low in Hogwarts Legacy (with DLSS at ultra-high performance) to get a fluid framerate. RTX 3050 4 GB VRAM is really not suitable for further proofing in games. This is a tradeoff you need to make to get the balance between performance and being lightweight at this price point.Also when will windows laptops not come with lots of stickers on them??

This is a beast of a machine for everyday tasks and can handle quite a lot of gaming and video editing asks as well.Auto brightness feature for changing light conditions is a nice touch, this also controls the keyboard backlight as well I have found this useful and similar in operation to my phone.The build is good and solid and everything has a nice feel to it. The fans shift some air so are quite noisy. Run a sound meter and background noise is between 19 and 22db, switch the PC on and this jumps to between 47 to 49db, so be warned this thing is not for you if you like your PC quiet.Would be nice to have a way of changing the temperature that the fan uses to switch on so at least we can get some respite from the noise.Battery life is not great, doing nothing (basically just watching some i-player or all4 catch up) I have managed to get it to go to 4 hours but start running some browser hungry apps and this will drop to 2 and half hours. There is no way I can get this thing to run to anything like what they say on the web.Sleep function is another issue, the PC does not truly sleep, the fans switch on and off all the time during the sleep function. They say this is because the CPU/GPU is working and will need cooling. No other PC I have owned has ever done this. Another warning here if you have use it in the bedroom and gone to sleep this will wake you up. Best to use hibernate and the fan running while the lid is shut will not bother you as this does not happen during hibernate. The only issue this causes is a slightly longer wake up time. Beware again there is a setting in the power management that will allow the PC to update software on hibernate so unless you disable this option you will still get the occasional fan noise in quiet hours when it does and auto update.

Anywho, my critiques follow below:- It collects fingerprints like no tomorrow- It creaks when you put it on your lap. It feels cheap and like it will break very easily. I was always very scared when I was walking around with it that I might accidentally drop it and break it. If you are clumsy like me, do not buy.- The battery life is poor. It would last me maybe 3-4 hours- It's difficult to scroll down on pages smoothly. I usually use the "down" key when browsing the internet. When using this laptop, everything would be choppy/take too long to load on webpages- The screen would shut down when overwhelmed with graphics. I went on a website to do some clothing shopping called Frank and Oak. It would not load the banner, kept freezing and would shut down- The keyboard quality is not good- Lenovo warranty that comes with it is only 1 year. And for a product this fragile, doesn't seem good enough. By comparison, I believe the thinkpad is 3 years. My old yoga came with 3 years.Overall, it was a nice. But not worth it.
