Bought a month ago, putting it together was a tough I did not think the directions were very clear, I was able to find on you tube another person explaining how to do this and this helped a lot. Hard to believe a huge company like LG doesnt provide links on you tube showing this. I had some prob with the temp sensor not reading correctly, I called LG and got bounced around and nobody really helped me. Found some stuff online that talked about that sensor and that you had to make sure it was not touching any part of the AC. I pulled it out a little bit and crazy enough it started working much better. There was a 6 degree gap between the actually temp before I self corrected. This was only reason I did not give this a 5 star rating. This must be the quietest AC I've ever owned. I don't often write recommendations, but I'm making an exception here. I have tinnitus, so most people's "quiet" isn't good enough for me. It has to be close to inaudible or it will drive me crazy. The question as to whether to suffer AC noise to cool down, or suffer the heat to have quiet is very real for me. I still don't want AC in my bedroom, but this 10k BTU AC cools my living room and kitchen quickly, and eventually reaches my bedroom too. If I lower it to 71 degrees, it will cool the un-air conditioned space in as little as 15 minutes. Most of the time I can keep it on energy saver at 77 degrees and am quite comfortable. It makes little enough noise that I could have a conversation right next to it, but the cool ... MoreThis must be the quietest AC I've ever owned. It makes little enough noise that I could have a conversation right next to it, but the cool air spreads nicely, so I can have a conversation anywhere in my apartment (over 700 sf) and still feel cool. I've only had it 2 weeks now, so I can't comment on cost savings, and I have no interest in its WIFI functions, so I can't comment on those either. I looked into 3 other ACs that all claim to be very quiet. The saddle shaped one simply cannot be accommodated by my window sill; the U shaped one was not available anywhere near me on the day I needed it. The last claimed to be quieter than this LG model, but too many of its reviewers complained that many of its functions malfunctioned soon after purchase (buttons didn't work or gave out, lights didn't light, or it was noisy). Hardly any reviews mentioned problems with this model, so for all around peace of mind, I chose this one, and am really happy with it. I live in a Manhattan coop, and my super and his assistant kindly installed it for me. Took them about 45 minutes, start to finish. Not cheap, but worth it because I no longer have the stress of choosing between too much heat or too much noise.

When the delivery person called me to ask where to deliver the air conditioner, I was a little confused. I walked out to a very large air conditioning unit on a pallet. It was a bit overwhelming. I want to tell others so that you all are not overwhelmed the way I was. Additionally, the unit is VERY heavy - I'm not even sure how many pounds, I would guess over 50, though. But an awkward 50 pounds.Beyond the delivery experience, the unit works well. I had to put it on a stand because I was concerned with it damaging the window. the stand was flush with the unit to take the weight off of the window. It works best in small/mid sized open area or a bedroom. I moved it from my dining room to my bedroom to see where it worked best. It worked best in my bedroom. In my dining room, it lowered the temperature of my home, but not by much. My bedroom was cold, though (with the door closed). And when it was too cool, I opened my door and I was still comfortable.Overall, the delivery process left much to be desired. But I love the a/c unit and would recommend it. I just used it with the buttons on the display, but there are other smart features.

This LG 8,000 BTU air conditioner is fantastic. First of all it is super quiet and efficient. It cooled my master bedroom in no time, and actually made the room smell better. {we installed new wall to wall carpeting} The dry feature actually takes the dampness out of the room on those humid 93 degree days. The Energy Saver feature has the unit going on and off at different intervals throughout the day to regulate the temperature. It also has an "auto clean" feature that you can set that evaporates any moisture generated inside the unit that may have accumulated, thereby making it more efficient and leaving no stale scents other air conditioners get over time. The remote control is an added feature if you don't feel like getting out of bed to change the temp in the ... MoreThis LG 8,000 BTU air conditioner is fantastic. I haven't used the wifi feature from my phone so can't comment on that. Overall this will not disappoint! One side note, it has 3 settings F1 F2 F3 for power, with F3 being the highest, it isn't full force in your face, but it apparently doesn't have to be.....because the room is cooled in no time. I'm guessing the inverter is responsible for that.....Its a weird phenomenon but it works! I highly recommend this unit! I used to buy Freidrich but now I am all LG!!!
Very powerful AC. Barely above a whisper unless full speed at cold setting. Built well but with caveats. One, the plastic tab that is inserted into the cabinet for the sliding mechanism? Not a very good design. Cheap plastic that was incredibly difficult to insert. Also, doesn't make sense to me why you have to remove the AC from its cabinet in the first place? Just design everything all inclusive. Adds to a large possibility of breaking a valuable internal component rendering it useless. For a 12000 btu ac it's big. Barely fit in a regularly sized window. You can tell the dual inverter tech will indeed help with energy usage. Seems to take much less than the 8000 btu unit it replaced. Overall very pleased. I found the installation of the stylish LG 10,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner to be fairly uncomplicated. The unit comes with an installation kit, and an easy-to-use remote control. This marvelous dual inverter AC offers outstanding performance. It has two compressors, multiple modes (including an energy savor mode), and useful smart features. The unit effectively cools a room faster and more efficiently than my previous traditional AC. The thermostat on the model is very accurate. Temperature regulation is superb. The sleep mode turns off the unit after a set time. The fan can go in different directions. You can adjust how bright the display is, so the light doesn't keep you awake. This standout unit has proven to be quite energy-efficient, and I have experienced a welcome drop in my electric bill. Additionally, this smart AC connects easily to Wi-Fi and features LG ThinQ, which works with Google Assistant and Alexa. I appreciate the ability to control the unit with the app or by just my voice. Being able to remotely turn the AC on or off and change its temperature settings from my smartphone is a handy perk when I am away from home. I am also impressed and really happy with the noise level of the model. Both the compressor and fan operate extremely quietly with minimal vibration even on the highest setting. Thoroughly satisfied.
Because this unit utilizes a slide-out chassis, and the distance between the outside vents and the front of the sleeve is over 8&1/2" it IS suitable for many through the wall installation.Remove the 4 screws at each bottom corner of the unit, per the instruction manual, and slide the chassis out of the sleeve. Remove the 3 screws holding the top bar. Now, install the sleeve in your wall. If you install the sleeve flush with your inside drywall, it'll work fine, but you won't be able to put back the front 2 chassis corner screws, so you might want to have the sleeve stick out just enough to provide access to those screws.Anyway, just screw the sleeve to your framed opening, maybe brace the bottom as I did, and then slide the chassis back in and re-attach.The rest ... MoreBecause this unit utilizes a slide-out chassis, and the distance between the outside vents and the front of the sleeve is over 8&1/2" it IS suitable for many through the wall installation.Remove the 4 screws at each bottom corner of the unit, per the instruction manual, and slide the chassis out of the sleeve. I bought this unit to use mostly during power failures post hurricane. It is extremely quiet, cools very well, and is efficient which is important for me using solar/ battery backup or small portable generator. I’ve tested it in both my bedroom+bath(350 sq ft) and LR open to kitchen (800 sq ft) The inverter is well worth the extra cost in a bedroom. It starts slowly and softly instead of the “thunk” of a compressor starting on a standard unit. It’s oversized for my BR+bath, but the inverter ramps down resulting in power consumption (based on backup battery draw down) being about the same as a 6000 btu Soleus U shaped that I’ve used The LG is quieter. On the down side, some of the controls are not intuitive or useful to me. The “sleep” setting is the opposite of what ... MoreI bought this unit to use mostly during power failures post hurricane. On the down side, some of the controls are not intuitive or useful to me. The “sleep” setting is the opposite of what I would want: It turns the set point up 2Fafter an hour , but for me I’d rather set point to drop 2 degrees as I go to sleep. The display of fan speeds uses F1, F3, F3 instead of HI, MD, LO. The temp display seems to be the set point always where other models show set point while adjusting and actual temp otherwise.
After looking at many A/Cs I decided on this one for several reasons. First i love the solid top on the outside. I have a lot of trees, and had issues with lots of leaves and dirt getting into the back of my old AC. I also like the stylish solid front panel. This thing is really quiet on lower settings. I haven't had to turn this thing above low, even when 90 degrees outside. It's in the living room, so I needed something quiet because of the TV. I also needed a slide in unit because i have this built into the wall. Install was fairly easy with two people. I framed the hole to the perfect size and then slide in the case. After mounting the case and adjusting my support brackets outside, the main unit slid right in. Exceptional A/C with all the bells and whistles! This unit will cool down 1,440 Sq Ft at 23,500 BTU’s it is one of the largest of window units on the market. The unit is very quiet and powerful at the same time. Plus it has the ability to work with Alex and can be controlled through WIFI using LG’s App that can be downloaded. The A/C unit comes with everything needed for installation but you may need some extra materials. The unit is very heavy so you will need to install support from underneath and you will also have to install a 115 volt/15 Amp receptacle to run the power. The unit has a washable filter that easily removes from the front of the unit behind the grill, just pull down on the grill from the top and remove the filter.
