So we bought an LG 12kg front loader washing machine from the good guys which arrived yesterday. Our first wash in a brand new LG washing machine: the entire laundry was flooded. Water was pouring out from the bottom of the front panel of the washing machine. Absolute disaster. I checked the rear of the machine and there were no leaking tubes, a technician from the good guys came out the next day and checked the installation, it had been correctly installed, the machine was faulty and dead on arrival. Called LG who said they would get someone out to fix it straight away but haven’t heard anything from them. My first front load washing machine and I couldn't be happier. I upgraded from a top load LG machine to this LG front load model. Solid build quality, quiet operation. What would make this machine perfect would be a light to light up the drum. Easily fits a full queen size sheet set, including king size quilt cover. Washes perfectly, clothes come out clean and soft, without the use of fabric softener.

Every wash has been brilliant. About 3 years ago l brought a washer on advice of the repair man. He suggested it wasn't worth paying too much for a washer as they are all only designed to last 5 years these days. So l spent 600 hundred on what l thought would do the job. It was not a good buy,fittings were cheap the door never closed properly without effort and there often were clothes amongst a wash that ld be hanging out that you could see had dry patches..which meant they never really got a proper wash.This machine is a dream. We replaced an 8 year old panasonic 10kg machine that had been excellent but was simply worn out ( 3 to 4 loads daily ).This machine offered extra capacity, same spin speed, even higher temperature for getting oily workshop clothes clean etc.It disappoints. It can't fit as much in as the panasonic, and with a full bowl it throws an error. With a single item such as farm jacket it won't spin ( panasonic had no issues with this )Larger loads are limited to only a very few cycles and temperature settings equally as limiting.It's horrifically slow, taking well over 4 hours for a wash with a pre wash cycle. I was a bit dubious about this washer because I read a lot of negative reviews after I bought it. I neednt have worried. Its a great washer. Excellent choice of programs. Washes well. The main proviso is that you must level the machine properly before you use it. The delivery men dont do it. If you dont do the levelling properly the machine would rattle itself to death very quickly.
After reading several reviews I was a little unsure if the machine would have the capacity to wash a large quilt. I have now washed a queen size quilted cover with no problems at all, plenty of room in the drum, so happy with the operation of the machine. The choices and variations you can make to the washing cycles would certainly please most consumers. The spin cycle is so very quiet I am impressed. The noise of the water filling and swishing the washing around is more noisey than I expected but not a problem. Very happy with my machine.
Had the washer for close to 18 months and it has been giving reliable consistent results however it is seriously let down by ridiculously long wash cycles. Cold wash takes 4.5 HOURS! I didn’t quite believe it when I downloaded this cycle thinking cold wash would save time on heating water. Other commonly used cycles take 2.5+ hours. Crazy in this day and age of limited time availability.If I was purchasing again I would think twice.Disappointed in the Choice review but this is becoming a pattern with Choice - ‘real world’ testing seems to be lab based and short term, definitely not reflecting day to day use and issues.

Admittedly the drum is small, my husband ordered online so I didn't get to view it before buying, otherwise I would've got a bigger machine. Probably why my husband went ahead and ordered online haha. Anyway, though I do have to halve the loads I'm used to doing with my old top loader. I don't have any issues with that, I feel the clothes do wash better and the cycle times are not as long as others make it out to be. Once you've figured out the cycles and the extra functions you can cut down the wash time by at least 30 minutes in my experience. cannot see thru black door glass. If I want to add more water to the wash, it drains the water out in beginning of wash. sprays water from sides of the washing machine instead of filling the tub up. writing on control panel eg. pre wash, etc do not light up. I need a torch to see writingl I am disappointed. It makes washing the clothes an effort as I am constantly shining the torch onto the control panel to read the writing and to look into the washing machine during the wash cycle wondering why the water is drainig out.
