I purchased this projector a year ago. Image quality is great but dark scenes can be hard to make out. I have heard people calibrating it to get even better image but I am not that kind of consumer. Even though this a smart projector you will need a secondary device to get all the streaming services. For sound you’ll definitely need a sound bar. Built-in speakers are underwhelming. The good thing is it can pass through Dolby Atmos and other high resolution audio from connected HDMI devices. Image project can be quite tricky to just get right because of manual focus and positioning. I often have to adjust the position or the focus because of temperature changes in the projector cause the Len shifts Just enough to lose focus or misalign with the projector screen. ... MoreI purchased this projector a year ago. Even after year it’s running on the web OS 5 while newer less expensive projectors are running on webOS 6. Also there are few other issues that keep people have complained about that could be fixed with firmware upgrade just take a look at AVForum. If anybody from LG is reading this please support this product.

Amazing 4K projector

This LG HU810PW UHD Smart Dual Laser Projector is by far the best projector I've ever laid my eyes on . The clarity of brightness of this projector is beyond spectacular. Upon unboxing and setting up the projector, it took a few minutes to get it going. The setup process was super easy. The projector has 3 hdmi port 2 usb port, ethernet and one optical port. Upon turning on the projector, the first thing I noticed was the brightness of the picture. I have an older Epson projector and the picture sharpness of this projector blows it away. The projector has several built in apps which is very convenient. Popular apps like Disney+ and Amazon Prime is included. Netflix is the only app that was not included. I tried the projector indoor as well as outdoor. When it was outdoor, it has to be pretty dark for you to enjoy it. But for inside, you can have the lights on and still enjoy the picture quality. The dual laser makes a huge difference. I recently watched Black Widow on this projector and it was an amazing experience. The sound quality was very clear. It has built in speakers on both sides of the projector. I also link my bluetooth speakers to it to create a surround sound experience. Constant DTM/HDR issues, an immense amount of blue

Iris settings below 6 are basically unusable as the blue goes crazy and can't be calibrated out.Furthermore, a ton of challenges with HDR content looking very dark with crushed blacks and grey backgrounds on many titles, implying the Dynamic Tone Mapping algorithm needs a ton of work.Netflix does not work as a built in app. 24p handling is poor (incorporates 3:2 pulldown and fails 24p tests). DOESN'T PROJECT 2.3:1 ASPECT RATIO

I bought this projector because of its excellent online reviews. However,it appears to have significant design error in that it doesn't appear to project a 2.3:1 ASPECT RATIO which is the standard aspect for native movie projection. Unfortunately, not everyone has a 16:9 aspect ratio screen. My last 2 projectors (Panasonic) were able to project a 2.3:1 aspect but for some unknown reason (also to their customer support people) this LG projector does not. It also does not state this in its manual. I have worked with customer support and they have moved my request "upstairs" to their engineering department and now have received no further response for the last 2 weeks and am unable to reach them. Excellent picture and quality

I bought this projector to replace an excellent Epson HD LCD projector. I was attracted to the laser light source and liked that this LG model had two separate colors which I thought would reduce the likelihood of rainbow patterns and indeed I haven't noticed these at all so far. The 4K is crisp and the picture is bright. HDR mode is very noticeable and I like the range of picture options. I use an Apple 4K TV and Xbox Series X so wasn't too interested in the onboard WebOS but its generally pretty responsive and intuitive so probably useful to have. The projected image does have a small thin light border and in super-widescreen 2.35:1 mode there are of course lighter bars at top and bottom; I'm not sure why with all the adaptive dimming technology they couldn't make ... MoreI bought this projector to replace an excellent Epson HD LCD projector. My advice is save your money on the expensive screen and splurge on this projector if you are thinking about it. I do think this technology is a generation ahead of the last and what's nice is it's also LG quality (I knew they made the best LCD IPS panels for computer displays as we have 6 of them, but now find they make really good projectors too) and really nice design and aesthetics. Switching on and off is fast and reliable and ambient noise seems quieter than anything else we have in the media room. We run a 30ft HDMI cable originally intended for 18Gbps through the ceiling and I was glad it didn't have to be replaced and meets all the XBox and Apple diagnostic tests at 4K/60Hz and 1080p/120Hz and works well with ARC sound too, even with a 3 year old receiver.

Getting everything set up was easy and quick for us to start watching our cinematic content. The picture was sharp with the 8.3 mega pixels of real 4K UHD, dual lasers, and contrast ratio makes the watching experience so much better. Great projector @ this price point

I purchased this projector to replace my 13 year old 1080p Mitsubishi. After many hours of reading reviews and watching YouTube videos, I finally decided on this projector. Although it was more than I had originally planned to spend, I couldn’t be happier with my decision. It is not quite as good as a 4k tv at the same price point, but in my opinion the little bit of picture quality you give up when watching the projector is more than made up for when can immerse yourself in a movie theater size image. I have the projector set back 15 feet from a 120” 1.0 gain gray silver ticket productions screen. Neither I or my wife have experienced laser speckle that I had read about and was concerned about. This is a fantastic projector with a TON of great features and capabilities that can fit almost any application and environment. No projector is perfect, and this one is no exception. Installation is a little tricky. If you are too far back, and you are display wall limited, you might have some issues. The zoom is good, if you are within the field of view. But if you are too far back, the projected screen will be too big. So just bear that in mind when you are installing. Setup was a breeze - resizing the picture and getting the video settings right was simple. There is a lot of customizability available for almost any situation that you can find yourself in. The picture is fantastically crisp - true 4K videos look amazing in 160". The colors are crisp and clear; blacks are truly black, even in a lit room. I am not a fan of that soap opera effect that all TVs and projectors have these days; this projector has a way to turn it off completely, or to scale it back so you still get some of that capability, but not the full blown. Operationally, my only complaint is getting audio setup properly. There does not seem to be a way to get audio output through the HDMI cable when using the smart capability on the projector. In other words, if you are streaming on the projector, I have not been able to use my speakers via the wired connection through my amp/receiver. There is bluetooth capability, so if that works for you, then you will be set. Overall, this is an awesome projector; runs quiet, puts out a fantastic picture, and is a nice addition to my media room!I received this projector at a discounted price. That being said, we have a decent amount of light control within 12 ft of the screen (no windows). Primarily we needed something bright; next I wanted resolution, contrast, and color saturation. The Right Purchase for my Criteria

With that said the house is isolated from neighbors and can be made relatively dark at night. But, this is not a dedicated theater room.My criteria is twofold. 1. Given that the projector is ceiling mounted, it must work not be a giant obtuse looking projector (ruling out the Epson models I was really interested in). 2. It had to work from the same 13' distance to my 96 screen so I didn't have to get into tearing apart the finished ceiling.Less importance was put on getting a projector that worked great in daylight, it just has to be functional. While it is sizeable the shape makes it less obvious than the smaller grey Yamaha it replaced. I actually quite like the look of it. The throw distance has a 1:1.6 adjustment which works really well. I was able to use the exact mount already present. Lastly it is quiet enough and stays cool to sit directly over my couch.The only area of sacrifice has been its performance in light. When the screen is retracted I have a 65 TV present and I can't see using the projector during the day. It simply is not great at daytime viewing in daylight conditions. However the picture is really good for night time movies and it has been a great step up from the 1080 projector. HDR and 4k movies are really excellent.I would certainly recommend it, you won't be disappointed unless you need that daytime viewing.
