Needed to update my old sammy (series 8 led) to get a bit more from my PS5 & to improve stream clarity for the odd movie or binge series when not gaming. After much head scratching, I finally chose LG's C1 oled. The C1 isn't the latest model & the C2 & C3 are brighter (worth considering depending on your viewing conditions) but in my opinion you cant go wrong with any of them, Incredible image quality, great features, good remote, snappy & useful interface (I'm told the C2 & 3 are even faster, but I was still impressed). If I really had to nitpick - the power cable on the C1 specifically is a little short & internally attached (non removable) so again depending on layout you may have to run an extension... seems a weird thing for a manufacturer to skimp on ...Ā MoreNeeded to update my old sammy (series 8 led) to get a bit more from my PS5 & to improve stream clarity for the odd movie or binge series when not gaming. I believe the C2&3 have the power lead centrally situated on the rear to lessen this issue. But thats so minor & I get the feeling I'll move over to LG screens permanently now, I'm that happy. Speaking of happy - Richer Sounds.... (used the B'ham store for many years, now moved so Solihull branch now for me) but as with their entire company in my experience, with their collective product knowledge, prices, enthusiasm to help (without pushiness).... The only thing I don't quite understand is honestly why would anyone shop anywhere else?? 10/10

I bought it on the recommendation of basically the entire internet on it being the best TV for PS5. And on that front, it succeeds admirably. And the picture itself when watching movies or anything else is really fantastic. Paired with and LG 3.1 channel Atmos enabled soundbar it's truly a luxurious entertainment experience on all fronts. Menus are clunky, non-intuitive and unresponsive, apps crash constantly and don't update regularly, the TV itself disconnects from the internet frequently (despite being hardwired with a brand new Cat6) and the remote feels like an early 2000s Wiimote. It's just a bad, bad, bad UX. I never really saw anyone mention this in the countless reviews I read and watched prior to dropping three grand on this beast, so it's possible this is just a me problem, but I really hate the experience. So for picture and sound quality, 5 stars, heck 10 stars. For user experience and ease of access, two thumbs down. Sorry LG, try a new UI next year please.

Also note there is now a new C2 and it has Carbon-Fiber ooh-la-la and other stuff I don't recall.I'd be happy to recommend this LG C1 to my friends and family.

Purchased this well over a month ago so the family has had time to settle into using this new display. Bear in mind, we hadn't upgraded in nearly a decade and were coming from what we thought was an OK 43" plasma, and that tech was already on its way out in 2012-2013.The results were startling. Standard HD appeared far more detailed and natural with better contrast, but the UHD content? Mind-blowingly rich and enveloping. We used Consumer Reports' settings as a starting point to start tweaking settings based on whether it was coming from our Google TV, UHD BR player or Xbox One. It's definitely worth investing time on your settings to get the most appropriate picture you can create for your purposes, sources and environment. It's definitely worth investing time on your settings to get the most appropriate picture you can create for your purposes, sources and environment. And the wireless remote configuration makes it pretty easy to navigate without having to maintain line-of sight.I knew even a standard LED display would have been a step up, but LG's OLED implementation is pretty amazing. I'm incredibly pleased with my purchase.Haven't used WebOS much, but in brief it appeared to be just a full-featured as GoogleTV as far as app availability. If you weren't invested in any other ecosystem for pooling your streaming content together, you could easily get started here.Gaming from our old Xbox One S is incredibly smooth. While the old One S is HDR only on the gaming side (except BR playback can do 4K), it takes full advantage of the HDR capabilities and high refresh rate. Amazing, positive experience.Incidentally, each input's display settings can be configured independently. Or, you can set one up and apply it to all inputs. In the words of Ferris Bueller: "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."
We purchased the LG OLDED 55C1 PUB approximately 2 weeks ago. Our Sony Bravia 46" died and had to be replaced. After investigating features of current TV'S and recent reviews I decided on the LG. Because of the smaller bezels, we were able to go from a 46" to a 55" due to the limited space we have. I must say that the picture is just incredible. Our source is AT&T U-VERSE which broadcast in 1080P so we're not getting the full benefit of 4K. Regardless, the picture quality is just incredible. No falloff at various angles. The instructional videos were very helpful in properly unpacking and setting up the unit. My grandson and I had no difficulties with that. Certainly with acquiring a recent technology, there was and still is a learning curve. In spite of that, the picture right out of the box is excellent. It is easy to experiment with various options concerning video and audio adjustments and revert back to the factory settings if so desired. The Magic remote is fairly intuitive. There are 2 settings that are not easily accessible on that remote compared to my U-VERSE remote. With the U-VERSE remote, I can easily FF and rewind and also get the program info. With the Magic remote, I have to dig into the menu a little bit in order to find those features because those buttons are not on the remote. Overall, we are just tickled with the audio and video performance of this TV. The unit itself is very classy looking. We have been a long time fan of LG products and their quality. Any reviews that I've read have rated the LG C1 series as number 1.
from a luxe point of view, this screen checks all the boxesas it provides the seamless equivalent of 4 27" 1920x1080 monitors* without 'shrinking' the pixel size (meaning the characters on this screen are the same size as a typical/traditional desktop monitor)BUT,it has some sort of internal motion detection that is continuously, gradually dimming the screen, which is irritating, to be sure. At this point initial service call generated no solution, and promised follow up is conspicuously tardy.AND,wow - this screen puts out *substantial* heat, which might be what the mfg is trying to control with the dimming, i.e., presumably power reduction. when I say heat, think of opening a oven door... which is not something you would notice from across the room ...Ā Morefrom a luxe point of view, this screen checks all the boxesas it provides the seamless equivalent of 4 27" 1920x1080 monitors* without 'shrinking' the pixel size (meaning the characters on this screen are the same size as a typical/traditional desktop monitor)BUT,it has some sort of internal motion detection that is continuously, gradually dimming the screen, which is irritating, to be sure. LG service department told me that it was because my internet speed was too low. I have a solid 60mbs supply from BT, with no speed connection problems with any of my other devices? In the last week the wireless connection seems to have sorted itself out, fingers crossed. I couldnāt access any Freeview channels via my aerial, which worked fine with my previous tv. A new connection lead from Amazon sorted that one out. Some HD channel pictures are better that others. The SD channels are a complete mixed bag, some have a reasonable quality picture, others are almost unwatchable.Overall though I am very pleased with the tv.
At the time of this review I have 1373 hours on this panel in roughly 4 months of owning it. I have thoroughly enjoying using this panel as my daily driver for all my screen time. This is my first Oled in the home. I have stared at them for hours at store displays but the richness of the blacks never really hit me until I got one in my cave. For my setup of sitting rather close, direct viewing angle and in a dark room; This TV rocks. The colors and 120 refresh rate really stepped up how great my games and movies look. Picture wise I could go on for days as a gaming panel because it looks and does exactly what I was looking for. Quality 1440p gaming up to 120fps with amazing colors and blacks.Let me get over a few things that I don't like. LG's operating system is not my favorite. It feels sluggish, cluttered and never very user friendly for navigation. The integration with Google Home is buggy and not as fluid as I hoped. The internal speaks do leave something to be desired for sure. Not a huge problem for me because I tend to wear noise cancelling earbuds or headphones almost all the time, even when home. If you intend to use this like a normal person, I highly suggest a external sound system. Even if the external sound is just a sound bar. I have the TV tabletop mounted but it is very close to the wall; So I have tried the wall mounted and tabletop mounted setting for the internal speakers. Neither really improve the sound when I am not using external sound.
The picture quality is absolutely superb whether it's used for gaming, streaming, or movies. Thanks to the OLED screen, the blacks are extremely black, and the color is far more accurate than any other television I have owned. This TV just makes you want to watch more and more high-quality content.I ended up getting the 55" instead of the 48" and would urge others also to go a size (or two) bigger than planned. After two weeks I'm already kicking myself for not just getting the 65" as it looks that good.As it is an OLED, it's not quite as bright as the Samsung QLEDs, and the screen is also quite shiny with a mirror-like finish, so avoid putting the LG C1 in bright rooms or opposite a sunny window, as reflections can be a problem. The inbuilt LG OS is okay, but ...Ā MoreThe picture quality is absolutely superb whether it's used for gaming, streaming, or movies. There were some annoying features at first (such as auto-playing ads on the menu screen), but I managed to disable this. I definitely have some concerns with regard to LG's privacy policy/data collection, so if you feel similarly, I'd recommend an Apply TV, and not enabling the voice command feature. In terms of usability, the remote works well and when shaken, a pointer/cursor pops up (for quick typing or selecting apps). There are also various physical buttons for apps like Netflix and Prime on the remote itself, so you can get where you need to be without too much faff/navigating through menus. Apps load fast, but the OS does seem a bit clunky at times, so not sure how it will fare after a few years.Overall, this is a great purchase, especially now that the newer LG C2 has arrived.

Unlike an LED with backlight the OLED does not have this and is reportedly better on your eyes. This does mean though that the peak brightness is not like that of an LED but upgrading from a plasma that had limited brightness, the tv is more than bright enough.Menus are fairly easy to navigate and the integration with other connected devices means I donāt need to constantly use more than one remote.Cons.I have had to use a wired Ethernet connection as when watching HD content on Disney and Netflix the quality would continually drop.Occasionally the TV will present a out of memory message and the screen will start glitching, turning on and off until it switched off completely to reboot. This is extremely frustrating as I purchased this TV partly for its advertised gaming features. You will be in the middle of a game and the tv will bring up this message and will bugger up whatever you are doing. Hopefully in your case you can pause the game. Not in my case.If itās wasnāt for this issue the tv would get a 4-5 stars, but this is a really frustrating issue and demonstrates why having some of the best tech isnāt always worth it. Itās a shame because it is a great tv especially for the money. Iām sure general use of this tv most people wonāt see some of these issues but itās a shame they happen at all.
